It's true , Dolours ; this guy is anti Irish. I have heard very bad reports about him and his like. The very same kind of person down the centuries who came out to public executions and laughed when they were murdering the Irish or Catholics in general.

However ..and it is a big however. By defending their freedom we defend our own. By not defending them e place ourselves in jeopardy.
I choose to defend a Klu Klux Klan enemy like Tommy Robinson because I choose to defend myself.

The Enemy of my Enemy is my friend.

I posted the above quote to my Facebook page. I will be honest, I am more than a little frightened, not for what will happen tomorrow but for what will happen in the months to come.

I have no problem with any of that. Just don't make him out to be a hero. England hasn't been a Christian country in a very long time. Most of those people waffling about Christian Britain haven't seen the inside of a church since their baptism, if they were baptised. And they would turn on you just as fast as they turn on the Muslims if you pointed out to them that if they and their parents had let all their children be born and raised them in the Christian faith they wouldn't have to worry about the loss of whatever culture they think they are defending. Trying to tell them that it takes two or three people paying into the welfare system to fund one person's benefits would be like talking to a brick wall.

He is a hero in as much he fights for the common freedom. Ireland too is no longer a Christian country.

The enemy of my enemy is my friend.

Of course they would turn on me as fast as look at me.

Of course their atttudes to looking after the poor and needy are abhorant. Basic Catholic teaching on Social Morality and even common human compassion shows us this.

But a , 'They've got it coming attitude', won't bring us any further forward. The simple fact remains that in defending their freedom ,we defend our own. They're coming for us next. Make no mistake about it.

    They're coming for us.

I don't defend him because I like him or agree with him. I defend him because , for the very selfish reason , I am defending myself. ...and the reason I defend myself is that I am defending freedom.
So yes, I consider Tommy Robinson as a hero is that he speaks truth to power.

I'm absolutely with you on defending his freedom, and I'm not proposing a they've got it coming attitude. Sorry if I didn't make that clear. In this case, however, the enemy of my enemy is not my friend. Despite that, I fully support the effort to secure his civil rights. And I have no doubt that they will come for us next.

None of these people spoke out when the Irish were being tortured, beaten and imprisoned without trial or due process. My own father and brother were interned by them without trial or jury.

I don't have to like these people or even agree with them.

But in fighting for their rights I am fighting for my own.

It is totally selfish, if you like. I have never really had freedom. One of the first things my brother said when he moved to America was what a free country it was.

Apparently Tommy Robinson had a trial, although there was no mention of a jury. Was he tried under some kind of anti-terrorism law?

Reading about the gag order and such, I kept flashing back to a line I read in a science fiction short story:

"There is no censorship in Britain. There are simply some stories the press is not allowed to print."

What they did first when he protested was to do a search on him. They found he had got his house mortgage fraudulently so they used that to imprison him.

Then when he got out of prison they put a gagging order on him to , 'Keep the peace'.

Once he tried to make a utube video outside the court which was trying a huge gang of Muslim rapists and paedophiles they arrested him for, 'Breach of the Peace' and speedily put up in jail .

Then they put the D censorship notice on all reports of trial , his arrest and all protests....

...so of course this is Internment by another name.

Sometimes they don't need a gag order. The press can be very compliant when it suits them. Social media has shown them all up but the powers that be are getting to grips with that.

Wouldn't it be good if there were an alternative internet source - maybe a satellite version which couldn't be controlled by governments or the usual billionnaires. I suppose it would be flooded with porn and disinformation.

If they used the justification that he was violating parole, then in American terms, it would have been an administrative hearing. Not a trial per se, but simply determining if he did in fact break parole:

"We have photos of you attending Burning Man, when the conditions of your parole specifically stated you were not to leave the State of Iowa. Did you in fact attend Burning Man? Was your presence required in order to preserve life or limb, yours or someone else's? Did you ever attempt to get your parole officer to approve your attendance? Was there ANYTHING to justify your attendance? No? Then we find you in violation of your parole, with immediate incarceration for a period not to exceed XX months."

After the hearing is over, when you're in prison, your lawyer can start appealing, but not until you're in jail.

    There is the internet.

Make no mistake about it , Catholics ( I mean real honest to goodness Catholics.. not the Pope Francis's or Cardinal Timothy Dolan's) like ourselves are at the very, very, very top of their , 'To do', list.

    Always were.

    Always will be.

It's just that now they happen have ordinary Joe Public right behind them , cheering them on, once again.

What IS a "D censorship notice", to someone not familiar with British law?

The powers that be are getting more control over the internet. They're starting with social media but will get to internet forums soon enough.

This is true, in addition to search engines like Google already filtering and prioritizing what they want us to read and think of as relevant.
