Saw this in 'Minute Meditations' by the Franciscans. Union With God In our daily lives we need to be conscious that we are going to live forever. We want that eternal life to be with the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. This is the one goal, the one prize, for the Christian: union with God. Don't allow anything, no matter how good, how exciting in this world, sidetrack you from that.
I had a private meeting with Fr. Hardon years ago. I had no idea who he was, my friend thought a lot of him tho. He told me I would find union with God. He saw it. I had no idea what that meant either! He also told me I would have many spiritual children. I thought he meant I would have many miscarriages...and lots of babies in heaven--which kinda upset me cause I had just had a miscarriage at the time. Now that I look back, I realize how blessed I was to get spiritual direction from him. Hope I make it !!
It's amazing how a Word from some one , especially a priest can lodge in the heart for ever and ever. I recall when I was 18 hearing the smae thing from two very holy old priests (long since dead) caled Father Bede and Father Benignus. That was nearly forty years ago and though I didn't think much of them at the time tehy have stayed wthme all the while. I think a Word of the Lord has that effect ( a Word of Knowledge) that it sticks forever. The same thing goes for true dreams, visions, apparitions, whatever. They stick in the heart like super glue.
