I don't think it is any specific seer or visionary that is prompting people to make some physical preparations. I think it is more personal prayer and as Kathy says...listening for nudges from the Holy Spirit. And I am very positive no one here would be hoarding anything.

I myself have not been prompted to do much at all. I have gotten stuff that would be wise for most households to have, such as a solar powered emergency radio and solar powered flashlight. I will now be getting some extra food to have on hand but I will not go crazy or hoarding. It is just prudent given how crazy the world is and the just in time supply chain strategy supermarkets have in the US means that shelves would be empty in no time with even a non-major event.

I suppose we are living in turbulent times (just saw a news report about the Iraqis complaining about Turkish troops in their country) so it's no harm to have some extra food on hand as we would do if we lived in, say, an earthquake zone. Shelters and guns, though, sound a bit more far-fetched. That's the kind of stuff that reminds me of the Protestants who think they will be "raptured".

I had to laugh when I read this Dolours. I think a true rapture-believing protestant would be the last person to do survival prep as they don't even think they'll be here. ;)

I am not trying to convince you to prepare Dolours, it is just that some people insist that we should not and we should just trust in God, whereas I think God works through His creation and He has given us warnings now. I am doing some prep because I feel called to, if others don't wish to it is fine. It just bugs me when some (not you) try to make me feel inferior in faith because I am not trusting the Lord enough.

Right enough, if God is going to magic them into space until all us baddies are wiped out, they won't need any guns. Are they storing plant and grain seeds for when God puts them back on earth as the new Pilgrim Fathers?

I could be wrong, but I think that people who advocate trust in God rather than pitching in with some preparation are concerned about unnecessary pressure being put on those who can't afford to prep, maybe even leading some people to make imprudent decisions about money they have saved or are saving for children's education or retirement.
