I have been working the last of five nights in a row and was tired. I got a little upset, with some loss of inner peace and decided to restore inner calm by meditating on the Cross. This seems to me a sure fire road to restoring peace by showing compassion to Christ dying, tortured on the Cross.

As I gazed at the Cross flames shot up in front of it and I heard a multitude of demons cursing and deriding Jesus as He hung there and suddenly I saw the Cross from their perspective, very different from my own. Whereas I viewed Him as Saviour, they who are Eternally damned do not. The sight of the Cross is not, as it is to be one of greatest consolation, for them it is a source of great pain and anguish.

I also saw that though they hated Christ they nevertheless knew in their deepest core the Justice of their being in Hell. This did not been they accepted it but they knew through and through that they deserved it. But no compunction whatsoever for their sins.

It seems to me in seeing things from the other side of this life, that such sight is carried on the very , very gentle breeze of the Holy Spirit. It also seems to me that the things I see are more real than the things that I see with my physical eyes. How can this be? Because the ultimate reality is love and God is Love. In this life we are cut off from this reality by sin. In the life to come we shall see God and reality as He really is. Now though as St Paul tells us, we see but in a glass darkly.

Every now and then though the breeze of the Holy Spirit bows go gently and parts the veil. To the Reality Beyond.

O Most Holy Trinity, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, I adore Thee profoundly. I offer Thee the most precious Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity of Jesus Christ present in all the tabernacles of the world, in reparation for the outrages, sacrileges and indifferences by which He is offended.

As I reflected on this I thought how easily and unfortunately sometimes I do look at the “crosses” in my life much like this. I see them as only hurtful and try to be avoided rather than as a means to salvation. How often I want resurrection - happiness and peace- but reject the crosses. And yet here on THE CROSS is the example and the way. Christ Himself did not reject his Cross but willing grabbed it knowing it was the only way to salvation for mankind. God provides the grace freely to me to accept the cross and I need the courage to grab it as Christ did to realize the gift of salvation he bought for me through his passion, death, and resurrection.

Appreciate very much your sharing your vision
