The bells

I had been struggling to pray this morning feeling slightly under the weather.

But when I heard the church bells ring at 12 for the Angelus it awakened the desire for prayer in my heart. And that desire has stayed with me.

What is it about bells that resonates with the soul & inspires us?

I hope there are bells in heaven.

 

I wish we had bells. We just a siren at noon!

 

The bells for the Angelus in Medjugorje are wonderful. You can hear them at 6 o clock in the morning when you are there, also.

 

Fr Ripperger says the ringing of blessed church bells drives away demons. Amazing.

 

I remember hearing the Angelus bells ringing in the woods. So haunting, it made me homesick for heaven.

I used to ring the bells in the monastery. One afternoon I slept in an hour and so then did everyone else. The Abbot was furious. I told him maybe we could have done with the extra sleep. This didn't help.

I loved ringing the bells.

What a beautiful sharing. I'd give anything to hear church bells in place of what we have here. I'm so glad you heard what you did. And I'm pretty sure heaven will have the most beautiful bells.

How sad Sunday is without Church. How empty.

I was listening to a little piece of Gregorian Chant earlier on and it reminded me so much of the purity of bells ringing.
