We in America will celebrate Thanksgiving Day tomorrow. We all have so much to be thankful for. All praise to Our Lord. Thanks to you Padraig for this forum and to all its members for your contributions. God Bless.
Happy Thanksgiving to all. I know that this is an American holiday, but one that should be shared by all. It is a time we reflect on the many gifts that God has given us. Especially the gifts of faith, family, home, work, health and freedom. As we share our traditional turkey meal this day, I do so in a different way. A way that I am more profoundly aware that this may well be the last Thanksgiving Day as we have known it to be. One day soon, I believe, we will not have the many gifts listed above in the same way. This is because many, if not most, people have all but already lost their faith, struggle in family, work, with their health and are loosing their homes, because man has turned from God the giver of all. Today I will reflect more on these gifts than usual. I know that God will not be mocked indefinitely and his justice will be unleashed on the whole world for its many grave sins. But once it is over, Thanksgiving will have a new and more prayerful meaning. It will be a time of faith renewed. The Thanksgiving Day we in American have known is fading quickly. This Thanksgiving Day takes on a new, more somber feeling. One that will be more prayerful throughout the day and a realization of a new experience of doing without. One that is keenly aware that our gifts from God have been abused. One that is aware that we are literally at the threshold of a new era. One where future Thanksgiving Day's will not necessarily be shared in large family gatherings with all the trimmings. Soon every meal will have a deeper appreciation and every day lived will be a thanksgiving to God in a new way. Thank you God for loving us in spite of our many sins. May this Thanksgiving Day be one of heart felt thanksgiving for all the gifts you have given us Lord, especially those that we are not even aware of.

Glenn, You do us a great service. Thanks for perseverance in your mission! Safe in the Hearts of Jesus and Mary!
In the homily at mass yesterday, father started with a wonderful quote that really has me thinking a lot. "It is not happy people who are thankful. It is thankful people who are happy!" We have so much to be thankful for and thus be happy in our giving of thanks! Peace to you all and I am thankful for God helping me find this wonderful online community of devout believers and friends.
I am truly thankful that my son came home a few days ago safe from Afghanistan. So many have not come home! He is wrestling with two of his three boys (5,2 and 5 mo.) today. Thank you Jesus!
