Thinking and praying about the many, many, many Signs around us. I think we may be lulled into a false sense of security that things are getting better. But this is not the case. We can see that the Tribulation is ramping up and ramping up very, very quickly. Or to put it another way heaven is very, very angry indeed. Take abortion for instance. The abortion mills are still churning away like crazy. Abortion is only one instance of the ongoing huge evil in both the World and the Church.
You must be thinking of Revelation 6:8 “I looked, and there was a pale green horse. Its rider was named Death, and Hades accompanied him. They were given authority over a quarter of the earth, to kill with sword, famine, plague, and by means of the beasts of the earth.” The Kennedy family are Catholics: “We said the rosary at least once a day, oftentimes three times a day,” Kennedy said. “We prayed before and after every [meal]. We read the Bible every night. We read the lives of the saints. We went to church, sometimes twice a day. We would go to the 7 o’clock Mass and 8 o’clock Mass in the summers. It was our whole family, and it was really our whole community. It was part of me growing up.”
White horse in literature and especially in Greek mythology symbol of freedom and courage etc. Heroic symbolism most often.
On a much more sedate, but incessant challenge, we continue to have a severe lake-effect snow pattern off the east shore of Lake Ontario. The main problem is the snow has been steady with few breaks. In addition, there have been no thaws. The local school districts have already run out of snow days and they are now adding school days in June to meet State requirements for the number of school days. Geralyn and I have a 70 ft long -30 wide drive way. Usually we pile snow on the west side of the driveway because we initially push the snow over the yard in front of the house, But the banks of snow are now 7ft high in places and we're running out of room. Last night we had another storm come through with high winds. The snow was so hard packed against the back door that we initially could not open the door. Simple, go out the front. No, can't do that because the snow has come off the front metal roof and buried that entrance. We'll probably be able to get out the front door some time in March. Anyway, we were able to get the back door open and begin snow removal. So we've now been focused on pushing back the snow banks on the east side of the drivway. They're at 6 feet and climbing. This morning the lake effect winds are so strong they've extended east as far as Albany and along the Hudson River! In some locations the snow banks along the nearby roads are above 6 feet. I'm glad a winter like this is not too frequent, especially now that I see in the news that roof cave-ins are occurring in some homes due to the weight of the snow pack. Lord have Mercy!
We are not at such a terrible state as you Terrybut we have been beaten around by storm after storm this month. And the latest yesterday into today. Unpleasant. Your description of being literally snowed in has happened to us more than once in the past. You have ALL my sympathy. And prayer.
I giggled when you said your mum thought it was the end in the late 70s! Lol! I pray God doesn't drag this on, I'm becoming very impatient lol.
I remember a winter we had like that we had in the north shore Boston area. We couldn't get out the front door or back door so onto the garage. Back door blocked but hey, let's open the big garage door. It was completely blocked so we hacked our way out. With us it was ocean effect snow. My husband drove a big van that you walked up a staircase to get in and we still couldn't see over the snowbanks so crossing intersections was fun{not}. One day I was shoveling the driveway again trying to enlarge the driveway with no place left to put the snow and I screamed out STOP THE SNOW GOD! I turned around and there was my brown scapular buried in a snow bank. How it got off of my neck and into a snow bank barely showing I don't know, but it did stop snowing after that-Thank you God! Please God-STOP THE SNOW for Terry and afflicted with all this snow and wind! I write this as my window just nearly got blown in by the wind. Jesus have mercy on us!
We lived in Michigan's upper peninsula for five years. We had to shovel our roof off, so much snow! Yes, there were roof collapses. In Green Bay, Wi the whole roof of the Comfort Inn over the swimming pool caved in. What a mess . . .so I had five years of that and it was enough. We headed down to southern Alabama where it was warm . . .too warm and three hurricanes! I said that was enough. So, we came back to NE Indiana, just south of where we lived previously. We are like the three bears, too hot, too cold, JUST right. Plus I am near the Amish here and I like that. And the Mennonites, they are so busy busy. This is our twelfth house in 50 years, so we have moved alot. I used to think I had gypsy in me somewhere back in the dna. Yes, the signs they are all around us. I lived in Upstate NY when I was a kid, north of where Terry lives. Winters are brutal, the cold is brutal. I feel for you Terry, been there done that and am too old now to do it anymore. On a positive note, the robins have returned to Michigan a month early, and I saw five flocks of geese heading north last week. So, spring is just around the corner.
Well, your prayers partially worked. We got 6 more inches as the band moved north to the county line. But it has drifted south again and may give us up to another foot. The sad reality is the band will park itself overnight in the southern part of Oswego County and by morning they will get between 1 and 2 feet of snow. The weird thing that has made things more difficult is an unusual trend. Lake effect snow can be voluminous but often is light and fluffy with less water content. But for some reason this year the snow is also heavy with higher water content. Interestingly, the weather stations haven't commented on this. but my arms have noticed it! Lord, keep people safe on the road.
I can't even imagine so much snow. We had a few days after Christmas and the country came to a complete standstill. I'll pray for better weather for you.
Maybe it's best that most people are not observant enough to notice what it is. Where is this thing sourced from?
I loved your last two lines. Metaphorically, they give me hope for what has been some challenging days here.
