They will blame everyone and everything before they recognize the hand of God. To the elite powers God is their enemy. They will never acknowledge His sovereign power and yet to us humble folk it is patently obvious. May they accept God's grace to see themselves in His Light and repent. May all who stand in need receive these generous graces--including myself.
I know God knows exactly how to bring hearts back to Him...but I can't help wonder at His words, when I return will there be any faith left on earth. People are turning into savages before crying out to God for mercy. I guess that's why we fast and pray. For our souls, our families, and that the grace of conversion spills out on the whole world. That's why I believe there has to be an illumination of conscience........its the only answer.

Steve Ryan, SDB The suicide epidemic is tragic. The Associate Press (AP) reported last week that there were more suicides last year in the United States then in any other time in our 250 year history. Sad. Why? Why so many suicides – men, women, young adults, teens? The AP report tried to blame the rise in suicides on the “growing availability of guns”. Another common reason given by the media is the crisis of mental health in our nation. Another is the exposure to violence in the news and in all mass media – video games included. Let me just say that all these things contribute to self-inflicted terminal violence. But all of them are superficial explanations for a much deeper problem: the crisis of meaning in today’s post-Christian culture. The suicide epidemic is symptomatic of the secularization that has robbed most people of an ultimate meaning in their lives. There used to be in American society a sense of God’s presence in our lives. There used to be a sense of spending your life in service of others. There used to be a sense of interdependence that we were made to sacrifice and serve others – my family and the common good. There used to be a sense that tough times will come but with God’s grace and trusting that a better day lies ahead, the hurts, pains, sorrows and broken relationships will heal. Many people now lack an objective higher ideal outside of maximizing their own pleasure and comfort. Superficial distractions and short-lived moments are the only foreseeable goals of our existence. Living for little moments of happiness, one after another, is what people seek. This only works for so long. There are only so many fleeting moments of distracted highs before reality sets in. Life has lots of challenges and pains. Life is hard at times. We must deal with difficulties, not run from hard things. We have trained ourselves to be escape artists: escaping from sacrifice, escaping from the hard work of human formation and escaping from a relationship with God. Previous generations had a less comfortable life than Americans in the 21st century. They did not despair as easily. All the higher ideals that used to be cherished and give people something outside themselves to live for, that made sacrifices and suffering worthwhile – nation, family, and especially religion – are now disregarded, thought of as meaningless. God, marriage, having children, a sense of patriotism are all under relentless attack by new ideologies that dominate public life. A lack of purpose is really at the core of the issue. Why am I here? What is the meaning of life? If one cannot answer the question of the ultimate meaning of one’s life, he or she is likely to despair. What’s the answer? God is the answer! The first lesson in the Baltimore Catechism, what was taught in every Catholic school from 1890 to 1980, helped many a generation understand this: ON THE END OF MAN Question: Who made the world? Answer: God made the world. Question: Who is God? Answer: God is the Creator of heaven and earth, and of all things. Question: What is man? Answer: Man is a creature composed of body and soul, and made to the image and likeness of God. Question: Why did God make you? Answer: God made me to know Him, to love Him, and to serve Him in this world, and to be happy with Him forever in the next. Question: What must we do to save our souls? Answer: To save our souls, we must worship God by faith, hope, and charity; that is, we must believe in Him, hope in Him, and love Him with all our heart. Right now, with a quarter of the 21st century almost under our belt, we have a good portion of two generations of Americans that is searching and yearning to live (and die) for something greater than themselves. But they do not know what that something might be. Hello! It’s God, people. Whenever the establishment offers an alleged higher ideal to people – like saving the planet and the human race from “man-made climate change” or “considering changing your sex from the one assigned to you at birth” – it just causes more anxiety and depression. So we distract ourselves further into deeper meaninglessness. Jesus Christ is the answer to our hearts’ longing. As Christians, we must be ready to love broken people searching for meaning and be prepared to preach about the Love of God with clarity and charity.
Great article that I can see playing out in my own family. Without the anchor of faith it is difficult to persevere through troubled times. There is presently an undercurrent of apathy, and depression that began with the lockdowns, and has only been exacerbated by rising interest rates, student loan debt, skyrocketing housing costs and food prices. It is a severe reality check for our younger generations, most of whom never faced any hardships thanks to their baby boomer parents who came into age when the American dream was attainable. The bottom line is, if God is not in the center of your life you are living on the edge, and it is a slippery slope to despair. I loved the Baltimore Catchchism, it served me well in life, and built a strong foundation of faith.

I don't really find it incredible that Satan has taken over the Church, that the Vatican has Fallen and we have the most abominable Pope in history. This was long foretold and is I believe part of the Third Secret of Fatima. But what I did find incredible is that most Catholics and even clergy do not realise it and that even the Bishops and Cardinals who do have a good sense of things remain constantly silent.
