Anyone paying attention to Turkey? Erdogon chooses Easter Sunday of all days to unify and consolidate his power?

    http://www.hurriyetdailynews.com/po...ogan.aspx?pageID=238&nID=109917&NewsCatID=338

Power will be gathered in one person to avoid strife: Erdoğan

The government-supported constitutional amendment will concentrate power in one pair of hands “to avoid strife,” President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has said, appealing to voters from the main opposition Republican People’s Party (CHP) and Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) as the referendum campaign gathered momentum.

“Didn’t we once see the president throw a booklet of the constitution at the prime minister of this country?

What an inappropriate thing! They made us go through that. But we are now lifting that. We are collecting power within one person so throwing out booklets will not happen again,” Erdoğan said at a rally in the eastern province of Elazığ, Feb. 18. He was referring to a notorious event in 2001 when former President Ahmet Necdet Sezer and former Prime Minister Bülent Ecevit quarreled during a National Security Council meeting, prompting a political and economic crisis.

“As the power of the prime minister and the president will unite in the same person, there will be no disputes, conflicts or quarrels,” he added, criticizing opposition’s characterization of the charter amendments as “regime change.”

Erdoğan has long supported shifting to an executive presidential system. Opposition voices say the proposed changes will bring about “one-man rule.”

“The work done in the amendment is about re-organizing the relationship between the legislative, executive and judiciary,” Erdoğan said in Elazığ.

“Today, some of those who oppose the constitutional amendment are doing it because they do not know the extent of the issue, while others oppose it because it may disrupt their interests,” he added.

“My brothers and sisters who have given their hearts to [the ruling Justice and Development Party] AK Party, the [Nationalist Movement Party] MHP, the CHP, or even the HDP, I’m calling out to you: Let’s join in unity and togetherness,” Erdoğan said, while revisiting the ruling party’s controversial suggestion that “no” voters will be voting in line with terrorist organizations.

He also blasted the opposition’s criticism of the article re-establishing the president’s link with his/her party for violating the “impartiality” principle of the president.

“Is it suitable for a human being’s character to be impartial? It is not. We have to be realistic,” he added.

Meanwhile, Erdoğan also spoke at an opening ceremony for infrastructure projects in the southeastern province of Gaziantep.

“April 16 will be a rebirth. I hope this will be a new resurrection, [and] it will be a sign of revival. We will receive the outcome that would be shameful for those who do not trust you and those who don’t believe in you,” he said.

Referring to recent terror attacks in Turkey, Erdoğan said, “Turkey needs strong governance.”

“Turkey needs strong governance while it passes through its fragile era. We have to change the system to come to a conclusion in our fight against terrorism; [we have to shift to the new system] for the success of our fight in the region and to attain our 2023 targets,” he said.

Large asteroid to hurtle past Earth on April 19

The earth has asteroids whizzing past it several times a week but these are smaller in size that the one expected on April 19 (AFP Photo/)

Paris (AFP) - An asteroid as big as the Rock of Gibraltar will streak past Earth on April 19 at a safe but uncomfortably close distance, according to astronomers.

"Although there is no possibility for the asteroid to collide with our planet, this will be a very close approach for an asteroid this size," NASA said in a statement.

Dubbed 2014-JO25 and roughly 650 metres (2,000 feet) across, the asteroid will come within 1.8 million kilometres (1.1 million miles) of Earth, less than five times the distance to the Moon.

It will pass closest to our planet after having looped around the Sun. 2014-J25's will then continue on past Jupiter before heading back toward the centre of our Solar System.

Smaller asteroids whizz by Earth several times a week. But the last time one at least this size came as close was in 2004, when Toutatis -- five kilometres (3.1 miles) across -- passed within four lunar distances.

The next close encounter with a big rock will not happen before 2027, when the 800-metre (half-mile) wide asteroid 199-AN10 will fly by at just one lunar distance, about 380,000 km (236,000 miles).

The last time 2014-JO25 was in our immediate neighbourhood was 400 years ago, and it's next brush with Earth won't happen until sometime after 2600.

The April 19 flyby is an "outstanding opportunity" for astronomers and amateur stargazers, NASA said.

"Astronomers plan to observe it with telescopes around the world to learn as much about it as possible," the US space agency said.

Besides its size and trajectory, scientists also know that its surface is twice as reflective as that of the Moon.

It should be visible with a small optical telescope for one or two nights before moving out of range.

2014-J25 was discovered in May 2014 by astronomers at the Catalina Sky Survey near Tucson, Arizona.

Also on April 19, a comet known as PanSTARRS will make its closest approach to Earth at a "very safe" distance of 175 million km (109 million miles), according to NASA.

The comet has brightened recently and should be visible in the dawn sky with binoculars or a small telescope.

Asteroids are composed of rocky and metallic material, whereas comets -- generally smaller -- are more typically made of ice, dust and rocky stuff.

Both were formed early in the history of the Solar System some 4.5 billion years ago.

    Sheesh...and now this:

Christian Orthodox Leader Calls on Erdogan to Repent and Convert from Islam or Find Himself in Hell with Mohammad

Greek Orthodox Bishop, Metropolit Seraphim of Piraeus has caused controversy by urging Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan to convert to Orthodoxy with Russian President Vladimir Putin as his godfather. And no, it’s not a joke.

In a 37-page letter to Erdogan written in Greek, Metropolit Seraphim asks the Turkish leader to denounce his Islamic faith and be baptised in the Ecumenical Patriarchate of Constantinople.

“If you want to save yourself and your family you should convert to Greek Orthodox Church, the only real faith,” Seraphim writes, reports Keep Talking Greece.

“We propose and we advise you to come to the arms of the Greek Orthodox Church before the end of your life on earth.

“Otherwise, you will unfortunately find yourself, your family and your people in the same place where Allah, Muhammad and his followers are, ie. in the place of suffering, eternal and unending hell.”

The timing of this letter could not be better considering the path that Erdogan is choosing to take his countrymen. Make no mistake, Turkey will be and is now much more powerful than Iran for the simple fact that the US sees it as a strategic ally in the ME. This is an unholy alliance and one we will regret in time. It deeply angers me in fact given the actions that Turkey has taken in the past and which it resolutely refuses to be held responsible for.

Some Greeks Turn to Elder Paisios' Prophecies on Russia-Turkey Conflict | GreekReporter.com
The tension that was created after the shooting down of a Russian jet fighter by Turkish warplanes has led several Greeks to refer to Elder Paisios‘ prophecies about war between Russia and Turkey.

The ascetic monk Paisios, who became Saint Paisios by the Holy Synod of the Greek Orthodox Church in January, was known for his prophecies and predictions. One of them was that Istanbul, once the capital of the Byzantine Empire Constantinople, will become Greek again.

Specifically, Paisios wrote: “Events will start that will culminate with us taking back Constantinople. Constantinople will be given to us. There will be war between Russia and Turkey. In the beginning the Turks will believe they are winning, but this will lead to their destruction. The Russians, eventually, will win and take over Constantinople. After that it will be ours. They will be forced to give it to us.”

The text reads further, “(The Turks) will be destroyed. They will be eradicated because they are a nation that was built without God’s blessing. One third of the Turks will go back to where they came from, the depths of Turkey. One third will be saved because they will become Christians, and the other third will be killed in this war.” This is based on the Saint Kosmas prophecy.

Saint Paisios reposed on July 12, 1994. One of the things he wrote was, “I wanted nothing else but God to keep me alive for a few more years so I could see my country expand. And it will expand…”

“Turkey will be dissected. This will be to our benefit as a nation. This way our villages will be liberated, our enslaved homelands. Constantinople will be liberated, will become Greek again. Hagia Sophia will open again,” the text reads.

“Turkey will be dissected in 3 or 4 parts. The countdown has begun. We will take the lands that belong to us, the Armenians will take theirs and the Kurds their own. The Kurdish issue is at the works,” the text continues.

Paisios wrote further: “As long as there is faith and hope in God, a lot of people will rejoice. All that will happen in these years. The time has come.”

Saint Paisios the Athonite was born Arsenios Eznepidis in July 1924, in Farasa Cappadocia. His father was called Prodromos and his mother Evlampia. He had eight siblings. On August 7, 1924, a week before the Greeks of Farasa returned to the homeland, he was baptized by the parish priest, Arsenios, whom the Orthodox Church recognized as a saint. Arsenios insisted and gave him his name “to leave a monk in his place,” as he said.

Five weeks after the boy’s christening, on September 14, 1924, the Eznepidis family, along with other refugees, arrived at Piraeus and then went to Corfu, where they stayed for eighteen months. The family then moved to Igoumenitsa and then to Konitsa where Arsenios finished elementary school and got his diploma with “excellent conduct.” Ever since he was a child, he was writing down the miracles of Saint Arsenios. He had an inclination towards monasticism and wanted to become a monk.

Arsenios went to Mount Athos to become a monk in 1949, right after his discharge from the army. He stayed for one night at the Monastery of Saint John the Theologian in Karyes and then slept in the hermitage of Saint Panteleimon, in the cell of the Virgin Mary, where he met father Cyril, abbot of the monastery, and followed him faithfully. After spending time in various retreats of Mount Athos and Sinai, he moved to Koutloumousio monastery until he became seriously ill and passed away in the summer of 1994.

He was buried in the Holy Monastery of Saint John the Theologian in Souroti, Thessaloniki. Since then, every year on July 11 to July 12, the anniversary of his death, there is a vigil in the Sanctuary Retreat, with thousands of believers attending.

Elder Paisios wrote four books, published by the Holy Monastery Saint John the Theologian: Saint Arsenios the Cappadocian (1991), Elder Hadji-Georgis the Athonite, 1809-1886 (1986), Athonite Fathers and Athonite Matters (1993) and Letters (1994).

Elder Paisios became known for a number of controversial political statements and prophecies. These include the prediction that a war with Turkey will lead to a restoration of a Greater Greece that includes Albania, Macedonia and Byzantium (Istanbul), and the mass conversion of Turks from Islam to Orthodox Christianity. Many Greeks compare Paisios to Nostradamus.

BISHOP MORLINO CALLS FOR ALL TO RECEIVE COMMUNION ON TONGUE WHILE KNEELING

For I have learnt for a fact that nothing so effectively obtains, retains and regains grace, as that we should always be found not high-minded before God, but filled with holy fear. –St. Bernard of Clairveux

[IMG]Last evening, April 11, 2017, the Diocese of Madison joined with Bishop Morlino at the Chrism Mass. It was a glorious evening, with many of our priests in attendance.

During Bishop Morlino’s homily, he alluded to a recent March 31 address by Cardinal Sarah, the “Vatican Liturgy Chief” (Prefect of the Congregation for Divine Worship and the Discipline of the Sacraments). In his address, Cardinal Sarah was forthright in calling for a recognition of “the serious and profound crisis” which, since the Council, has affected the liturgy by placing man and not God at the center of worship:

“The serious crisis of faith, not only at the level of the Christian faithful but also and especially among many priests and bishops, has made us incapable of understanding the Eucharistic liturgy as a sacrifice, as identical to the act performed once and for all by Jesus Christ, making present the Sacrifice of the Cross in a non-bloody manner, throughout the Church, through different ages, places, peoples and nations,” he said.

“There is often a sacrilegious tendency to reduce the Holy Mass to a simple convivial meal, the celebration of a profane feast, the community’s celebration of itself, or even worse, a terrible diversion from the anguish of a life that no longer has meaning or from the fear of meeting God face to face, because His glance unveils and obliges us to look truly and unflinchingly at the ugliness of our interior life. But the Holy Mass is not a diversion. It is the living sacrifice of Christ who died on the cross to free us from sin and death, for the purpose of revealing the love and the glory of God the Father,” he added.

The notion that the Church is in crisis is not new. Pope Benedict XVI wrote, “I am convinced that the crisis in the Church that we are experiencing today is, to a large extent, due to the disintegration of the liturgy.”

In his Chrism Mass homily, Bishop Morlino highlighted the fact that the Catholic Church is very good at social issues at every level – Catholic organizations, dioceses, parishes and individuals – but, ours is a crisis of faith, revealed by less than 25% of Catholics attending Mass any longer (less than 5% in many parts of Europe). Where we are failing is in a lack of fervor in our faith, Bishop stated. This is most evident in how we, as priests, are offering the Mass, and how the faithful are praying the Mass.

Bishop Morlino went on to speak about “actuosa participatio” as being more about “actual participation” than “active participation.” Bishop lamented that we seem to feel everyone needs to be busy “doing something” at the Mass, when it is more important that we are deeply contemplating what is being done at the Mass … that God is made Present – Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity. This should stir our soul and fill us with awe and wonder. But, are we too busy to take notice?

A year ago, Bishop called for all tabernacles to be in church and in the center of the sanctuary. Last Fall, as part of the Bishop’s overall plan to add sacred beauty and reverence to all Masses in his diocese, Bishop Morlino encouraged all of his priests to strongly consider Cardinal Sarah’s call to offer the Mass ad orientem. Bishop Morlino then announced he would, from now on, be offering all of his Masses ad orientem.

Now, during last evening’s Chrism Mass, Bishop Morlino concluded his homily by appealing to all of his priests in his diocese to strongly encourage their parishioners to begin receiving Communion on the tongue while kneeling, beginning this September.

Praise be Jesus Christ! Now and forever!

  16. This Miracle of the Holy Fire coming down on the tomb of Jesus on Holy Saturday (Orthodox) "has been publicly recorded for at least 1600 years". It occurs on the eve of the Orthodox Easter. This first video is a pretty good explanation in English. The second is the actual occurrence in 2015. There are other videos of that but are in some other language:

"The descent of the Holy Fire at the Tomb of Christ every Holy Saturday is the only miraculous event in human history which has taken place each year on the same day

"The descent of the Holy Fire at the Tomb of Christ every Holy Saturday is the only miraculous event in human history which has taken place each year on the same day for more than one thousand years...[It has been publicly recorded for at least 1600 years!]...Each year, at noon on Holy Saturday, a light descends on the Tomb of Christ, the Holy Sepulchre, and ignites the ever-burning oil lamp in the Tomb's interior, while at the same time a blue incandescence from the same light diffuses throughout the Church of the Resurrection, illuminating the entire area and spontaneously igniting other lamps and candles around the Church. The light is identified with the supernatural light that radiated inside the Tomb of Christ during His Resurrection." (Haris Skarlakidis, "Holy Fire: The Miracle of Holy Saturday at the Tomb of Christ", p. 11 & Backcover)

The #holy_fire ( #holy_light ) is a miracle that happens every year in the church or resurrection the bright Saturday day in Jerusalem. The patriarch enters to Christ's tomb holding candles and pray, then goes out with the candles lighten by the holy fire that never hurts when people touch it. Security is tighten there at that time, and make sure that there isn't any source of light inside the tomb or with the patriarch before his arrival. Our Lord #Jesus #Christ is alive and this is a substantial testimony in our days for us to prove it! So we can see His holy light and live it as well

    Glory be to our #God.
