Feast of the Chaste Heart of Joseph Explained with Special Prayer of Consecration

The Feast of the Most Chaste Heart of St. Joseph is celebrated on the first Wednesday after the Feast of the Sacred Heart of Jesus.

The Chaste Heart of St. Joseph

St. Joseph is known as “the just man” and, as such, was a man of singular virtue. This strength of character, this reign of virtue, extended to all aspects of his life and his person—including his heart. His whole being was oriented to his God. His love was properly ordered, his affections purified. Unlike St. Joseph, we tend to struggle, and oftentimes fail, with matters of the heart. Our culture certainly does not hold the virtue of chastity in high esteem. Therefore, it can seem incredible to us that a man like Joseph was able to rise to the lofty challenge presented to him: to be the “chaste guardian of the Virgin” (and of all virgins) and the foster-father of the Son of God. Such a task requires both remarkable human virtue and unexcelled amounts of God’s grace. St. Joseph had both.

The tradition with regard to the age of St. Joseph varies (the Eastern Church holds that he was an old man, while the West concedes that he may have been much younger), but at the heart of the issue is the fact that it was Joseph’s virtue—not merely old age, lack or virility, or lethargic passions—that safeguarded the perpetual virginity of the Mother of God, and allowed him to guide and protect Mary and Jesus with such strength of pure love.

This should be a great consolation to us who still wander in this vale of tears, striving for holiness. St. Joseph was a great man with a “most chaste heart” but whose love was certainly not cold. For this reason, the Diocese of Charlotte’s logo for the Year of St. Joseph depicts his Most Chaste Heart inflamed with love and adorned with the white lily of purity. The heart of St. Joseph should give us great hope that purity of heart lies within our reach, thanks to the grace of God and the intercession of Joseph-most-chaste!

    PRAYER:

To your Chaste Heart we consecrate ourselves, on this day, O Glorious Saint Joseph. We consecrate our families and all that we have. Just as you protect Jesus and Mary, protect my soul and my life also, O my Beloved Protector, against the dangers that surround me and attack me.

O Glorious Saint Joseph, teach me to love deeply the most Holy Hearts of Jesus and Mary, so that you may come to love deeply as they your Most Chaste Heart, honoring it and making it known, as you deserve and ought to be Honored and loved for all eternity. Amen!

Sacred Heart of Jesus, have mercy on us.

Immaculate Heart of Mary, pray for us.

Most Chaste Heart of Joseph, pray for us. AMEN

Thank you. :) Our whole moving process has been in St. Joseph's hands, and after waiting for what's seemed like forever to find someone available to do the needed fixes on our house to make it market-ready, a reliable contractor who is completely booked for the rest of the year just had a cancellation and is starting on our house on Wednesday! So it's pretty neat to find out this Wednesday is in honor of St. Joseph's most chaste heart.

What I find so interesting was the Triduum of hearts was preceded on Thursday by the Solemnity of St.John the Baptist. Make way for the Lord! Then Roe v Wade fell.

What is interesting about this is that no one has ever witnessed anything like this before. Hence the crowds. The first time they appeared was February 2021. Also Termites. Toads.

Clouds of stinging insects are mentioned in the book of the Apocalypse.

We saw this all before in Egypt with Moses.

I have to wonder if all those fish leaping out of the water were trying to eat mosquitoes and other swarming insects.

    Grecian Formula?

No! While Grecian Formula CAN be used on beards, it's much less expensive to use a product like "Just For Men": GF can't penetrate the coarser hair of a beard; and it may irritate the skin on your face. FWIW, there are dyes made specifically for beards, but it's much less expensive to make your own using coffee grounds and cocoa powder.

It's clear to me that he uses beard butter, a conditioner made specifically for men's facial hair. The beard is healthy, well-kept, shaped, and trimmed, not growing out in all directions. Not any split ends that I can see. In times past, a beard like that would be making a statement about power and prestige -- you can't wear something like that without investing time in maintenance, just like certain hair styles on women require extra effort to maintain (such as having longer hair).

Bit of history here: until the invention of safety razors, razors used for shaving were blessedly sharp and VERY expensive, so being clean-shaven on a regular basis was a sign of wealth. Most men had beards because they couldn't afford the equipment or the time to shave every day. Men went to the barber shop weekly not just to "get a trim" but because the barber had the equipment and the training to use those shaving razors. The development of the safety razor coincided with the spread of hot-water heaters in homes, so you didn't need to wait by the stove for the water to heat up so you could shave.

And yet, I sense a great disturbance in the force ...

Specifically, the Church of Satan views abortion as one of its sacraments and is going to push a case in a red state (such as Oklahoma) where abortion is outlawed. They'll make a "Freedom of Religion" claim that this prohibition is discriminatory, etc.

Thing is, US law already recognizes that Freedom of Religion can be made secondary when there is a compelling interest in doing so. Two examples: Mormonism allows polygamy, yet for Utah to be admitted as a state the Mormon Church had to renounce it. The State had a compelling interest in preserving traditional family values. Another example is in Islam, where the Quran requires that a body must be buried before sundown. Yet, when there is suspicion of foul play, the coroner's office can keep the corpse until all of the necessary tests have been done -- the compelling interest of finding a murderer outweighs the religious practices of Islam.

If the Supreme Court were to go so far as to declare the fetus "human", then this "sacramental sacrifice" can be prohibited based on the societal need to oppose and prevent human sacrifice.
