Maybe for the locals but the American visitors were TLM people so most likely kneeling for Communion is the norm for them. People kneeling on the street, however, must have been a sight to behold.
I'm seeing this mixing up with quite a few news posts. The earthquakes have been too close. It must have many on edge. The news post I attached mentioned the possibility of other quakes as a result of this one - but in other distant regions. Very worrying.

It's interesting that Israeli Deputy Minister Ayoob Kara was in Italy doing a diplomatic visit when the earthquakes started. He suggested that the earthquakes were divine punishment against Italy for not taking a stand during the UNESCO vote denying Jewish ties to the Temple Mount. For the record, Italy did NOT vote in favor of the resolution denying Jewish claims to the Temple Mount (as well as pretty much all other Jewish sites in Israel); however, they did not vote against the resolution but chose to abstain.
