Ok, I just found the rest of the story. They found him insane. Of course anyone shooting a Nun and kicking her would be insane. And he was in psychosis. So he is committed to a mental institution. He was not set free. If he had been psychotic, then he would have attacked anyone. They would not have their state policy of bombing churches in Lebanon and Gaza, expelling Christians, spitting on them, and killing several priests. They have also smashed statues of Christ in the head with hammers, banned Christians from gathering during the Easter holidays for the first time in history, and representatives of all Christian Churches have publicly stated that they have been severely abused and terrorized. This release is clear evidence of their policy that no one will be held accountable, and he certainly will not be placed in any institution. If the situation were reversed and this had happened in a Western country, it is obvious that the person would receive a prison sentence and would in no way be able to justify it as a mental health episode.
This is true, anywhere else being mentally ill would never get you off the hook. Joe Stalin and Adolph Hitler may well have been half out of their heads. But it does not mean they were not evil and would have been held accountable for their actions. All the serial killers who ever lived could have been found mad. But they would still have gone to jail and or executed. Walking out of jail Scott free after assaulting a nun in this horrible fashion like this in public is horrendous. He should have been locked up and the key thrown away. Totally no sympathy. I wish I had been there at the time he attacked that poor sister. There would have been no need for a court.

Six years is the maximum, but they will probably release him soon.
Exactly , it is like an SS officer on trial in Nazi Germany for hitting a Jew. It was never going to go well.
