There are some leaders who actually believe the end of the world will bring spiritual enlightenment. As a Christian, i should also be praying for the return of Jesus. But I'm chicken to what that actually entails. But the muslims believe, leading us to that point, will bring the leader they are waiting for. In Iran, they said they would sacrafice Iran for the return of the mahdi (savior). Maybe some leaders have the same goals.

London Catholic school believes government order threatens its identity
London, England, Mar 26, 2015 / 05:29 pm (EWTN News/CNA).- A prestigious Catholic school in London fears that altering its admissions criteria – as it was ordered to do by an English government agency following a complaint from the British Humanist Association – will damage its Christian identity.

Bishops conferences are not the Magisterium, Vatican doctrine chief reminds Cardinal Marx
    Vatican City, Mar 26, 2015 / 05:00 pm (EWTN News/CNA)
Cardinal Gerhard Mueller, prefect of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, has told a French paper that doctrinal, or even disciplinary, decisions regarding marriage and family are not up for determination by national bishops’ conferences.

“It is an absolutely anti-Catholic idea that does not respect the Catholicity of the Church,” Cardinal Mueller said when asked, “Could certain doctrinal or disciplinary decisions on marriage and family be delegated to the episcopal conferences?”

“Episcopal conferences have authority on certain matters, but they are not a magisterium beside the Magisterium, without the Pope and without communion with all the bishops,” he continued.

    continued.....
Responding to the assertions of the president of the German bishops' conference, Cardinal Mueller, who was ordained a priest of the Diocese of Mainz, remarked that “an episcopal conference is not a particular council, much less an ecumenical council. The president of an episcopal conference is nothing more than a technical moderator, and he does not have any particular magisterial authority due to this title.”

“Hearing that an episcopal conference is not a 'branch of Rome' gives me the occasion to recall that dioceses are not the branches of the secretariat of a bishops' conference either, nor of the diocese whose bishop presides over the episcopal conference.”

Such an attitude, he said, “risks in fact the reawakening of a certain polarization between the local Churches and the universal Church, out of date since Vatican I and Vatican II. The Church is not a sum of national churches, whose presidents would vote to elect their chief on the universal level.”

Pretty sobering analysis of the ME situation. And the last paragraph is what really strikes me. It appears to say by allowing Iran to have nukes, the region will be more stable. This is just plain scary and to think we have "leaders" in DC who really believes this strategy will work blows my mind. Of course, in the end, it is all under God's plan but it's going to be a rough time.

Thanks for the video, ive been pondering the Israel question the last few days. Im all for the state of Israel to defend herself I agree with Voris the new Israel is the Catholic Church not the state of Israel...
Paragraph 877 - I. The Hierarchical Constitution of the Church
In fact, from the beginning of his ministry, the Lord Jesus instituted the Twelve

The name of Israel can be said collectively of the Church as the New Israel--Saint Paul speaks this way in Romans--but it would not appear appropriate to apply this to ourselves individually, given its strong association with the collective sense of the Covenant people of God--Old and New Testaments. That line of thinking would be more along the lines of a view held by certain Protestants, who see themselves more individually than collectively when it comes to religion.

    ALSO...

I am told that the fellow who has been a guest on EWTN, who calls himself a Hebrew Catholic and wear a Yamulka, is "bordersline heresy" since in the gospel it says you can't be Jewish and Catholic. I disagree with her and think he can bring in more Jews to the fullness of Catholicism, but I don't really have a good enough way to respond. HELP. God bless, Bernadette
Answer by Fr. Robert J. Levis on 01-22-2007:
Dear Bernadette, Yes, one can be both Jewish and Catholic in this respect. He believes all the revelation of God made in the Old Testament to and about Israel, but also that Jesus' Incarnation and Redemption established a New Israel, a closing out of the First Covenant with replacing it with another Covenant. The Covenant of Christ completes fully the Israelite Covenant. Fr. Bob Levis

    QUESTION
A member of my family who has joined a protestant church often talks about how America needs to be loyal to Israel. He believes that since God made a covenant with them our nation would be in big trouble if we ever"turned our back on them."
My understanding of our Catholic faith is that the Roman Catholic Church IS the New Israel.Christ's Church where all our loyalty should be.Likewise the patriarchs (popes?)Israelites,Kings etc.of the Old Testament are the Old Testament"Catholic Church."
I have heard other fundamentalists talk like him too.
Have you ever come across this argument?
    Thanks and Happy Easter.

Answer by Fr. John Echert on 04-28-2005:
The Church is not under any obligation to support efforts by the modern state of Israel to seize control of the land of Palestine, under the guise of an Old Testament promise. The Son of Man Himself brought about the destruction of the ancient Jewish temple and God allowed the sack of the city of Jerusalem twice in ancient times, thereby bringing to an end the old form of worship and religion which was transcended by Christ. If God did not protect the old form of worship and promise, then why would the Church be under such an obligation? Some Protestants--especially Pentecostals--vigorously support a "right" of modern Judaism to possess Israel, in large part because of a false apocalyptic expectation that Christ will come to rule from Jerusalem once this takes place and because of a wrong understanding of the Old Testament vis-a-vis the New.

God made a covenant with the Jewish people. Brother Al is not Jewish :). Eventhough God sent His son and was denied by His people. That does not mean God cut them out and threw them away. In the Old Testament... God says he will never leave His People. Old Testament prophecy also states the temple will be rebuilt and all Jewish people would return to the land of there ancestors. Guess what... it is happening.

So, why should us Catholics care. We should care because it is the birth pains of the return of Our Lord Jesus Christ. Everything is falling in place and the Jews (for good or bad) will play a major part in the end of days. When the temple is rebuilt...all nations will gather to war against Israel (Armageddon). Seems like its coming to pass in front of our eyes. But at its lowest point Our Lord Jesus will come from the clouds to destroy His enemies. (So dramatic).

If you don't believe the spiritual version lets try the humanist version. If muslims take over Israel, Jews as well as Christians will loose their place of worship in Jerusalem. Jews and Christians will be persecuted and Holy sites will be destroyed.

    God Bless Israel

The Holy land is better off in Israels hands than radical muslims for sure...No Doubt ! Israel blocks the Church in Israel as was noted during papa Francis visit last year.He needed the goverments permission to celebrate Mass in the upper room

Jesus said to them, "Have you never read in the scriptures: 'The very stone which the builders rejected has become the head of the corner; this was the Lord's doing, and it is marvelous in our eyes'?" (Matt 21:42) The meaning: In spite of the rejection of Jesus by the majority of Israel, He would become the head of a New Israel, which is the Church.

The remnant of Israel which accepted the Messiah is the core of the New Israel, that is, the Church. This would include the Blessed Mother, the apostles and all other Jews from the start of the Church. And should any present Jews accept Jesus Christ as the Messiah, they too would be incorporated into the New Israel which has been reconstituted in Christ.

That is how I was always taught (remember the veil in the sanctuary tearing in half representing the old covenant)but it seems the church is changing that belief also, kumbaya.

The question to Father is basically what your saying on the Old Testament Covenant

We may be crossing over each other in terms of our use of terms. Simply put, the New Covenant in Jesus Christ is the fulfillment of any and all covenants past, so that distinctions between Jesus as a Jew or Christian make no sense—at least in the sense that all Jews true to the covenants should have accepted Christ. The only reason we now distinguish between Jews and Christians is that Judaism, as a whole, did not accept the Messiah and so it separated itself from the direction God intended and forced the circumstances of separate religions. The true Israel from Christ to the present is to be found in the Church and it is our realistic hope, based upon the text of St. Paul in Romans, that at some point there will be conversions from modern day Judaism to the Israel of the New Covenant to which we belong. In effect, Judaism went into schism with its covenant by not accepting the Messiah. God has not abandoned His people but for the present, they are not in the fullness of the covenant God has established. For the sake of the past covenants, God continues in a special relationship with the Jews, but we should pray for their conversion to Christ.
    Thanks,

ALL this sabre rattling isn't good !

GREAT FALLS - A team from Malmstrom Air Force Base successfully tested an unarmed Minuteman III missile early Friday morning in California. This is the second missile Malmstrom has tested in less than a week at Vandenberg Air Force Base.Air Force Global Strike Command airmen launched the intercontinental ballistic missile equipped with a test re-entry vehicle.

The launch team, under the direction of the 576th Flight Test Squadron from Vandenberg, included airmen from Malmstrom. About 40 minutes after launch, the re-entry vehicle "impacted" in a pre-established test area in the Pacific Ocean near Guam.

That was an interesting bit of history I did not know before. I also read this after Aviso put the link on his Garabandal bog.

I guess it is reassuring to me. It seems to validate that this event (miracle or not) can be seen as a sign from God that will ultimately work for His Good.

....but it could also indicate a heavy crucible for the Pope himself in the process.

The essential idea is that this sign is a "harbinger of suffering that purifies", as opposed to a "blessing that affirms".
