    What an amazing blessing that the road trip was cancelled. We just never know what's waiting around the corner for us. God is good.

    I still hadn’t heard anything yet by 1:00 this afternoon, so I just asked my nurse when I’m scheduled for surgery.

    He said I’m not on today’s surgical schedule yet and probably won’t have surgery till tomorrow because they ordered a review of my medications list and complicated medical history for surgical risks prior to surgery!

    I’m getting IV fluids but I haven’t eaten anything since Tuesday morning. I had no appetite Tuesday or Wednesday but I’m feeling better today and getting hungry.

    But I’m npo (no food or water by mouth) because there’s still “a chance” I might have the surgery yet today.

    Does a “forced fast” count as a spiritual fast? LOL

    This hospital never asked my faith nor offered the presence of a priest or minister.

    My spiritual director (with whom I was supposed to be camping out west right now) was classmates in seminary with the pastor stationed just across the main road from this hospital complex.

    He just contacted this church and requested his friend to come up to perform Anointing (Last Rites) prior to my surgery.

    God is good. Lots of small miracles in the midst of this sickness.

    My sister and a couple friends asked me if I’d like visitors while I’m here, but all of them would have had to travel distances to get here, so I asked them to just pray for me.

    Frankly I’m “alone” but not lonely; Christ is at my side.

    LOL! Definitely NOT starving!

    Actually this is a convenient way to “jump start” an earnest effort at returning to serious dieting. I’ve already lost 85 pounds over the last ten years but would like to lose 30 more.

    I’m ok. I’m used to fasting. It played a part in my prior weight loss.
    I have it on good authority that one may have peace and joy despite being a grump. Maybe :whistle::cool::cool:
