Yesterday evening we attended an anniversary Mass celebrating 100 years of Saint Teresa's Church in the Donore Avenue area of Dublin, where I grew up. I made my First Communion there in 1966 and was Confirmed a few years later. What I hadn't known was that it was the first Church in the world to be dedicated to Saint Therese of Lisieux, after her Canonisation on 17th May 1925. A special souvenir booklet proclaimed this on the front cover. It was an unexpected gift that Relics of Saint Therese were brought from Whitefriar Street Church for the celebration and we were able to receive a blessing with the precious relics after Mass, which was concelebrated, the main celebrant was Bishop Paul Dempsey. A wonderful event and a great opportunity to meet some old friends I hadn't seen in a long time. Here's to the next 100 years! Some photos from the parish Fb page:
