It's not because God cannot hear. Its because we cannot. Romans 1:9 "... without ceasing I make mention of you always in my prayers." 2 Corinthians 12:8 Ephesians 1:16 "Cease not ... making mention of you in my prayers." Philippians 1:3, 4 "Always in every prayer of mine for you all making request with joy." Colossians 1:9 "... since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you ..." Philemon 4 "... making mention of thee always in my prayers." 2 Timothy 1:3 "...without cen we easing I have remembrance of thee in my prayers night and day." For if we cannot understand what we ask, how could we understand if we were to receive...andif we recieved without understanding we would receive unworthily.
I knew some Ruthenian Catholic Nuns that told me once that I was to only pray for things once. After that I was talking just to hear my head roar....they never prayed the Rosary because they prayed the 'Jesus Prayer'-"Jesus Christ, Son of God, Have mercy on me a sinner." Over and over and over again. I pray both, but I always remembered that statement by them. I pray Novenas for intentions that are specific, over and over for 9 days, so I 'm certainly repeating myself there. However, I think that the idea is to go FORWARD with Graditude. TRUSTING that God has heard your prayer, and sometimes he says no. One of my favorite Priests, Fr. Peter Dally of Oregon had the same cancer as your daughter. His doctor gave him 5 mo. to live. He lived 7 years. He was an Episcopal Priest on Vashon Island off the coast of Oregon and he was one of the first 20 priests in the U.S. welcomed into the Catholic Church by PJPII back in the early 80's. He brought his wife and 4 children and 120 of his parishoners with him into the Church. What a saint! His wife is one of my dear friends and wrote several books, "Married to a Catholic Priest" was one of them. She said that although it was exausting going forward , it was one of God's great gifts of time for them. He obtained dual rites and died a Byzantine Catholic PRiest. Time is Gods. Your frustrations are real. Don't ask why. Ask How. How can you help do HIS Holy Will. Pray everyday that you want to do his will and that you will go through every door he opens and not go through every door he closes ---and GO! Don't stand still and spin your wheels and wring your hands. Don't loose your faith over this. Gos is still in charge--and be thankful for that. I hope that helps. I'm praying for you sister!
