I just watched Father Chris Alar also and he was very clear! he actually confirms what I was fearing might happen to good priests…that couples would come for blessing just to push the envelope.
Agree, Fr. Gorin must be in denial and from what I've seen on social media, many clergy are in denial. I don't think that they have given the situation enough thought, or they are very afraid. Clergy are already getting requests for blessings from gay COUPLES, not individuals, and many priests have indicated that if their bishop allows it, they will comply. The homosexual Trojan Horse that Fr. Martin has been working on for years has finally busted into our Church. This document isn't about general blessings at all, it is specifically designed to bless gay couples. This is exactly what Fr. Martin wanted. The next step will be approval of homosexual marriage unless God intervenes. We need to brace ourselves for the possibility that some of us may be forced to leave our parishes. The bishops of every diocese should issue a statement on this document immediately. We have the right to know whether or not our bishops will allow blasphemous blessings of gay couples. There is nothing holy about this document, it is nothing but double speak meant to cause confusion and division. We will no longer have a universal Holy Catholic Church if some bishops allow blessings for those in "irregular " situations while other bishops refuse to allow this in their diocese. It does indeed put bishops and parish priests in a terrible position. Any clergy who refuses to comply will be likely be targeted, they will be placed in the same position as the baker who refused to make a wedding cake for a gay couple.
I think we all need to chill. Not saying it's not diabolic it is. But.... Christ suffered this betrayal on the cross and we in a much more limited way must now share in it. We know these things must pass. Our job is to steer ourselves through it whilst keeping faith and charity and being a light to those around us. And...praying for the poor fools who are actively promoting it. It was never going to be pretty. Chin up. Christmas approaches.
Father Alar is very, very innocent. He appears to have no idea whatsoever that he is dealing with the diabolic.
Yes I agree. Never heard of him until recently and I listened to some of his stuff on the mass and thought the guy is not that clued in at all.
This will usher in the schism. Those who see this as a political move and those who are the politicians. Even though we know what it says, there will be those who put a 'spin' on it. Already Priests and Bishops are taking sides. Unbelievable . . .
AED I hope all gets fixed in time for Christmas. It réminds me of a situation that happened to me years ago. We had moved into our present house in the previous 12 months. We were hit by a freak storm on Christmas eve and part of our roof was blown off. It was scary but as in all these things it could have been worse. Electricity in the area was out for the best part of a week. We all slept in one room and ate all the sweets and biscuits. We adults drank all the whiskey. Ever since I have a gas cooker. I'll pray that all will work out soon.
I'm not surprised, people are very upset and no longer trust anything that comes out of the Vatican. I really like Fr. Gorin, but I just cannot agree with him on this.
Thank you Jo. We need the prayer. There is substantial flood damage along with wind damage. A very nasty storm. I wonder how Mary's Child is doing in NH? MC are you in the same fix we are?
Thank you maryrose. It sounds like you had an adventurous Christmas that year! I have been thinking seriously of getting a gas cooker too.
Don't let it drag you down. The evil one wants us to be discouraged. The priest at Mass last Sunday reminded us that Gaudate Sunday is about being joyful no matter what trials we face and no matter what's going on in the world. I often gritted my teeth watching Lofton's videos. I was trying to get some balance because we're supposed to give the benefit of the doubt and I had gone too far with my criticisms,. Similar to some of what's coming out of the Church lately, Lofton states the official doctrine. He's a theologian so that shouldn't be hard for him. Then he goes on to whitewash what's staring everyone in the face: that sin is being promoted under the guise of mercy for the sinner. How stupid do they think we are? The timing of the release of this document makes it even worse. It wouldn't surprise me in the least to see the Cathedral in Vienna or Cologne decked out in rainbow colours for some not quite liturgical ceremonial blessing at Christmas. Worse than that, there's something in the document about couples going to shrines for blessings. Satan is so out and proud these days, we could see one of these shams at Knock or, perish the thought, Fatima. The fact that the prohibition of specific wording for these blessings is being promoted as a good thing, supposedly because that would make it look more obvious that the Church officially approves of the unions, also leaves me shaking my head. Blessing two people as a couple de facto blesses the coupling no matter the sanctimonious denials by people like Lofton or the smarmy pretence of the document's wording.. Imagine how priests like Fr. James Martin will use magisterial approval to ad-lib the whole shebang. We're on the brink of a world war. Catholics are being murdered and driven out of the Levant by people claiming Abraham for there father. And where is Christ's church focused? On downplaying the gravity of a sin crying to heaven for Vengeance. Does the Magisterium really believe that this is what the world needs now? Rod Sterling will be along any minute to welcome us to the Twilight Zone. It's just as well that the Eastern Orthodox doesn't have much of a presence in this country because this is a time when I might have been tempted to seek refuge from the hypocrisy. Then I remember that a member of the Orthodox Church can have up to four living spouses. For all its dirty linen, we're in the one true Church founded by Christ. He didn't promise us an easy ride, but we know that the battle has been won. Hang in there. We can ride this out. Our help is in the name of the Lord who made Heaven and Earth.
