I had no sleep last night either. I fear there are many sleepless nights in our future. Yesterday was such a dark day. I was lying awake last night thinking about how terribly cruel it was to deliver such sorrowful news on Christmas week. A good father would do everything possible to protect his children, but sadly this Pope has chosen to protect the wolves. The declaration, issued on December 18 by Dicastery for the Doctrine of the Faith Prefect Cardinal Manuel Fernández, and signed by Pope Francis, claims to offer an “innovative contribution to the meaning of blessings” which allows the “possibility of blessing couples in irregular situations and same-sex couples without officially validating their status or changing in any way the Church’s perennial teaching on marriage”. While affirming that the Church “does not have the power to impart blessings [proper to the sacrament of marriage] on unions of persons of the same sex”, the declaration permits priests to offer a non-liturgical and “spontaneous pastoral blessing”, i.e. a new category of blessing, to such couples. I think that a stance of neutrality becomes somewhat unsustainable from that moment on. Any clergyman around the world may be faced with a question to which he can only say "yes" or "no" as an answer. I believe this consolidates the division of the church down the middle, even before the conclusion of the synod.
This declaration is just so bad not only in the decision itself but in the potential relativism it creates. Someone commented that the current evil regime seems to pull these wicked rabbits out of their hat always around great Church Feasts and Holy Days. It would not surprise me. I would be very surprised if at least a few of these people are not perverts and heretics but actual Satanists. My heart goes out to honest, good people and their poor families who live in the Vatican at the moment. People like the Swiss Guards the Attendants, the cleaners, the drivers and so on. What a truly horrible place to try to bring up a family.
I fear this 'declaration' will but hasten the attack on the church that surely is to come. A gay couple will at some point take to court the church for discrimination; i.e. for not 'marrying' them in the same way they do a heterosexual couple. What happens then? Do they shut churches everywhere? The courts become involved. The secular media machine will most certainly swing into full, anti-church propaganda mode. Yep, the attack is imminent. God save us!

I woke up yesterday the 19th December, to find this hideous declaration Fiducia Supplicans from pope Francis and Cardinal Fernandes. It threw me for a loop. Being in Australia we are a day ahead so the news came on the 19th. When my disabled husband woke yesterday, I spoke like a rabid banshee! I think I was trying to ease my pain. My husband is not a practicing Catholic, but he was the only one I could speak to at that time and so he listened; God Bless his heart. Just before noon while explaining to my husband the gravity of Fiducia Supplicanst, I started to vomit. I ran to the sink and heaved uncontrollably until I managed to control my physical self . This happened twice during my discourse with my husband. The pronouncement by the Vatican rattled me to this extent! Fiducia Supplicanst, has made me acutely aware that our holy mother church could be stripped of everything that belongs to her, a scenario so cataclysmic horrific that we may be left with nil priests, nil edifices, nil guidance, nil supports, left to our own devices. I consider myself a steadfast and praying catholic, but this document really rattled me yesterday, to such an extent that a fleeting thought of becoming orthodox entered my brain as an answer! However the most blessed Virgin Mary answered my prayer as usual, reminding me to remain faithful to Her sons commands of faithfulness to His One Holy Catholic and Apostolic Church. It is very,very difficult and hard. There is a story, I have no idea if it is true or not, that when Our Lord showed Padre Pio what would happen to the Church in our times he actually fell down in a dead faint. It wouldn't surprise me if this were true.
