I get what you mean, but I feel something is off about it all, others feel the same...

Pray and faith. God does give us leaders at critical moments. That doesn't mean idolatry on our part. Moses was chosen leader to bring people to the promised land. He wasn't God. She pointed all the time to God as did Charlie Kirk.
I hope and pray that I like Moses will glimpse the promised land before I depart this life.
God bless America may she rise from the ashes.

I personally don't see CK as a leader tho. I've watched clips of him verbally attacking ppl. What changed it for me was when I saw he wouldn't let a young liberal woman speak. She said he kept interrupting her. Then he said to the crowd 'Men, don't go for a woman like this.' Or something along those lines.

CK is imperfect, we all are, but he totally degraded the young woman, publicly humiliated her. I don't see CK & Candace Owens as good leaders, they are so aggressive with ppl.

I know they probably lose their cool, but it then becomes a personal attack rather than getting their point across...

I can't watch Candace Owens at all since I find her so aggressive. Ppl ought to speak the Truth but there definitely has to be a more gentler approach. What good does it do to personally attack someone? It may completely turn them away from God... When it comes to our families we are likely to lose our filter, but with these public figures, I just don't know anymore... I choose to focus on God alone...

I really mourned the death of the kids that got killed at Mass. At first, I mourned Charlie, but the more I see & feel, things feel sooooooo off. But my opinion means nothing, only God knows the Truth. I am glad that others online feel the same tho, that this feels performative, this feels different. In time, God will reveal it all.

Others online make valid points, like if these public figures like Candace Owens are for God, why don't they reveal the truth about the deep state's agenda?? None of it adds up, they all have to be in cahoots with one another...

  6. Brave Irish woman initials G O' Dou... has some good insights into this. Also another brave Irish American housewife initials L. W. has some good blogposts about this. The end game is to take away free speech, gun control, and more surveillance.

Beautifully said. I guess i am weary of conspiracy theories. I am just about to enter the chapel for my hour of Adoration. That is the only strategy I have. Im praying for everybody. God knows my sins are enough to bring on God's wrath but in His mercy He has forgiven me. I forgive everyone--known and unknown--may they be with me in heaven.

I don't have Instagram and the link opened for me. It's a clip of Charlie Kirk saying that executions should be public, promoted by Coca Cola and children should watch them. He's not happy with the current long drawn out system and he, personally, would put someone's head on a chopping block. That's the spirit of the anti-Christian, more specifically anti-Catholic, French Revolution.

I finally managed to watch Erika's speech. The problem with Catholic Erika's speech was canonising her husband. According to Erika, Charlie who had never been to Confession, never consumed the Body of Christ in the Eucharist, and had supported dreadful atrocities wearing the cloak of love of Jesus, saw Jesus in Heaven the instant he died. How does that fit with what we Catholics hold to be true? If Charlie had been an LBTQ advocate showing signs that he was on the brink of seeing the error of his ways but not there yet, would we be canonising him now?

I also looked at the list of speakers at the event, some of them advocates of mass murder. Jesus told us that not all who call Him Lord will enter Heaven but only those who do the will of the Father.

You mean the Gemma O'Doherty who believes Erika Kirk deserves an Oscar for her acting and that she is burying a dummy version of her husband?

I watched some of the key speakers. It was good to hear that God was at the center of their speeches and the gospel was proudly shared. I thought Erika's speech was moving, and actually led to Elon Musk quoting the Our Father on X, " Forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us." Erika's forgiveness towards the man who took had husband's life had a profound effect that could be regarded as an act of mercy for our nation to lift the scales from people's eyes, encouraging a return to to faith. It was refreshing to hear so many politicians freely talk about God. I do wish that there had been a mention of prayers for Charlie's soul. So many speakers believed that his soul went directly to heaven, but I did have to remind myself that Charlie was an evangelical and not a catholic like his wife. As practicing catholics we need to pick up the torch of faith and pray for Charlie Kirk's soul when others do not understand and cannot pray for him. Yes, the memorial service had the look of a political rally but this may have been unavoidable due to the abundance of politicians in attendance. It may not have been perfect or up to our very Catholic standards, but this moment to honor Charlie's life united us in faith. I still have many questions surrounding the circumstances of Charlie's assassination, but I do not believe that this poor man is still alive.

Thank you for this excellent post. Yes we must pray for Charlie's soul and all those do not have the benefit of the sacraments. And I'd like to add it is a long standing tradition to speak charitably of the dead. They are now in the hands of God and He alone knows the inmost soul for good or ill.

It is indeed a long standing tradition to speak charitably of the dead. Using the veneer of Christianity in the interests of partisan politics is not. There's nothing Catholic about promoting a Protestant as an icon of Christianity. It is indeed very much a Catholic tradition to pray for the repose of his soul but there are no indications that anyone asked for that at the memorial rally.

I believe that Charlie is dead and I believe that the young man in custody killed him. I also believe that there are questions to be answered about how that young man changed from an apparently ordinary, law abiding, possibly confused, citizen to an assassin. Unless those questions are answered, any proposed solutions are merely papering over some huge, widening cracks.

I think Fr. Z is a pretty straight and conservative voice. I appreciate his comments .CK was like most of us- imperfect and in need of being saved by Jesus Christ. He acknowledged this. I also feel he was on the path To crossing the Tiber. I pray for his soul.

Perhaps I am misreading this but I seem to have triggered some real anger here. I had no intention of doing so. Please accept my apology for whatever I said that upset you.

Be careful with what you are finding online. While there is a lot of suspicion around the shooting of Charlie Kirk, I believe that we are possibly witnessing a technique known as "blowing the well" being used. This is where so much information comes out that it becomes difficult to decipher what actually happened. Where the noise overwhelms the truth. The problem with the video above is that no entry wound was found from behind the head and more specifically no blood was seen on the back half of Charlie's body. Which is very problematic for a head shot from behind given that he was wearing a white t-shirt.

There is a problem however with there being no exit wound from a 30-06 shot, which is demonstrable in the video above as well. I am sure there are reasons why this could have happened, and maybe they happened in this instance. But it is very strange. You can take down bull moose with a 30-06.

You certainly didn't upset me and I'm not angry. I had never heard of Charlie Kirk and have no strong feelings about him. The Tucker Carlson video I posted earlier in the thread was a warning bell for me.

What concerns me is the possibility of Christian indifferentism spreading to Catholics and a political party, controlled by we know not what, being touted as the foremost defenders of such Christianity. It's chiefly America's problem but the problem for me is that whatever takes hold in the hegemon tends to find its way here. Christian indifferentism is a fruit of the Reformation and I got the impression from Tucker Carlson and his guests that TPUSA is a combination of that indifferentism with a national identity.

I'm Catholic first, not second or third. Perhaps I was mistaken in believing that to be the guideline for all members of the universal Church.
