I just wanted to understand the reason behind this lack of transparency in their communication with the general public. Are they afraid that people might grow weaker in their faith when they see their spiritual leader falling ill? Since yesterday, I’ve seen many foolish and blasphemous comments on social media questioning why the Pope wouldn’t turn to prayer for healing instead of seeking medical treatment. Perhaps the Vatican fears that such deeply disrespectful objections might start popping up everywhere? If we read the life stories of various saints, such as St. Thérèse of the Child Jesus and St. Faustina, we find little reason to believe that holiness and communion with God necessarily go hand in hand with robust health.
That is quite true, in fact the saints were often in ill health even from childhood. Mother Angelica was a good example. Anyway how do they know that the Pope is not praying for healing? He has millions praying for him. I am sorry people are saying such nasty things. It is a consequence of the Church turning into what appears to some kind of political party.
