I am not denying original sin. I believe Jesus's teachings were pacifist. He went like a Lamb to the slaughter, as did the apostles. Father, forgive them for they know not what they do. So I would say even self-defense is questionable but I agree that if there are children, women or more vulnerable then we are called to self-defense. So while there may be some battles required, a longer term strategy of war seems inexcuseable. If the other warring party persists indefinitely then withdrawal and giving up ones property would be required. I think Pope Francis got it right on the death penalty. In the Old Testament such things were necessary. Now, as St. Paul says we must let go of the old-man and put on the new-man, the mind of Christ.
I wasn't referring to you with regard to original sin it was a simple observation that many people deny but so obvious to see in a dysfunctional world. You are not a pacifist as you agree with the right to self defence in some limited circumstances.
At the opening of the rosary today, Pope Leo did {paraphrasing} say in the intentions to pray for the conversion of hearts. He said more but I can not recollect it all.

My family joined in. Will and my husband called from the car on the drive home from the hospital and my younger kids and I prayed it with them over the phone.

I can at least say that before Vatican 2, We were told not to trust our feelings. Our feelings are not facts. ( also a 12 step rule.) Too much of our personal feeling in our faith leads to false mercy, which has been pushed by Pope Francis and now Pope Leo. The rules do not change because we feel bad for someone. The poor we will have with us always and yes we should help as we see fit but it's all about EQUALITY in society. Same food same pay... socialism. That's what it all points too. I'm starting to believe alot differently about Vatican I was just in Philly yesterday. I grew up in Delco.
