Whatever about the intellectual side of him, Pope Francis shows here evidence of a good heart. His attitude, if reports are correct, is not shared uniformly by all the movers and shakers in the Vatican, but Pope Francis' wonderfully spontaneous gesture has probably wrong-sided them.

Interesting to note that the doctors have expressed surprise at the discovery that they are not God.

That child is still breathing unaided, 22 hours after they switched off his life support last night. The judge is calling the advisors around the family "fanatical and deluded" . The judges medical "experts" said Alfie would last minutes after being taken off the ventilator. And, the judge has also said the boy should be allowed home to die and not allowed to go to Rome.

What is this country turning into.

Bella, Alfie was my first thought when I woke this morning and I will continue to think and pray for him and his family all day today.

Me too, Carol. I woke up fearing the worst, having gone to bed knowing he had been extubated. I couldn't believe it when I heard he was still going. They had to fight to get him some extra oxygen and hydration early this morning. I have been praying so hard today for this miracle of life to continue, to show those so called experts of the law and of medicine that our God is an amazing God. A court hearing late this afternoon was still talking about "letting him home to die". That's all these people want: for a two year old child to die, so that they can say they were right all along.

Has the UK constructed a new Iron Curtain, beyond which its citizens may not travel without permission? Stalin is alive and well.

My heart breaks for the Evans at the latest court ruling to not allow the baby to travel. The treatment in Italy is as much for the little one as it is for the parents.... for the days ahead. When God takes back a child, the only solace from grief for most parents is that they did all they could. That there's nothing more that could have been done.

Today before Mass I spoke with the priest about Alfie and he said he had heard. He praised God that Alfie was still breathing on his own. There were two priests there today due to the sophomore class of St. Mary's High School being on retreat there. During the petitions, a priest prayed for the people in decision-making authority, so he got a prayer in without changing the way the Mass had originally been planned. I was very grateful. I did recently read a tweet that Alfie has been fed. I also know there has been a hearing but I don't know the outcome. I prayed for this after Mass today when they had the Novena to Our Lady of Perpetual Help. There must be a multitude of people who are praying and who are outraged.
