I have a holy hour once a week and would like it to be that day
Although I go much more often and pray for all on this forum as well as other intentions

Thank you very much to each and everyone who has already responded, and so enthusiastically at that -especially Padraig (y)

There is the suggestion of one particular devotion -the Hours of the Passion- that comes from another thread. I think it is great to offer ways in which people may be able to get more involved into daily prayer.

What I was thinking is a little more global and would require more members to step forward.

Of the people who responded two mention specifically a weekly Holy Hour -and as a "professional" :) pray-er I too do Adoration daily, and maybe others also.

Then there is Holy Mass: do people in the forum attend daily, or several days a week? If so, that could go into a calendar of Masses at different hours every day given the time zones.

Some people have their daily routine of prayer. For instance my father attends daily mass and then prays the Rosary with Radio Maria at the same hour every day.

This is the kind of information I was thinking of to fill up the hours of a weekly calendar. It wouldn't matter what kind of devotion or prayer you prefer. And of course there should be room for people praying with no specific time in the day but also included in the day as a whole.

In this way, if we had enough people -or new commers who want to join us on this- we could create something like a weekly calendar of prayer, whether by time or by devotion. This is what I had in mind as a chain of prayer.

Maybe this is too complicated for the forum -even technically- to have it organized.

This morning at Mass it surprised and struck me that I had the forum present in my prayer in a new and powerful way.

Maybe we don't need to complicate ourselves creating structures. Maybe it is more about a personal commitment to be united in prayer for each other as we share so much of values and faith in this forum.

So these are my thoughts at this point. Personally I'm taking to heart this commitment for myself -and this might be the first step also for others, whether they have already expressed their support or not -: Pray for the Intentions of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, and for members, their intentions, and their families.

We can entrust this to Our Blessed Mother -as Mario says- to guide us, and see what happens.

Padraig, and all, what do you think?
Once again, thanks to all and everyone.

My thoughts are to keep this simple and have a person sign up for an hour commitment of prayer for the intentions originally posted in this thread. Your prayer can be a rosary, 7 sorrows of Mary, the Virtues of Mary, stations of the cross...whatever you feel called to do. You can commit to an hour a day, a week, a month...whatever you feel called to do. To start, you would just need a spreadsheet with the days at the top, and the 24 hours of a day going down, and fill in the boxes with people who commit to the hour. Very similer to perpetual adoration. Just as the fruits of perpetual adoration are enormous for a parish community and even the city perpetual adoration occurs, the fruits of this on the forum would be just as fruitful. As Padraig said...the forum would literally fly and people woul be attracted here like bees to honey! But of course the goal is to play our part that Mary needs us to do for the salvation of mankind...and this may be part of the picture...so no biggie really :rolleyes:

Yes this sounds fine. I suggest a central time, say the Vatican ?Rome time and everyone as they commit to whatever time also gives their own time zone and fill in accordingly. I agree to be flexible, very flexible is best, not to worry too much about gaps as will fill later.

I also agree we need an organisor maybe even a bit of a boss. to implement the plan? Work the thing together. ?

I suggest posting a thread and then just filling the segments in . Also we could continue the thread by people maybe bringing some thoughts from their prayers to the thread. Eventually the full 24 hours should be filled. :)

I have always thought of this forum as a prayer chain anyway. whenever someone needs help people from all over the world pray for them, something I love about this forum. Formalizing it sounds like a great idea. In a way it answers a problem I am having. Since I travel so much, I miss at least half of my adoration times now. I have a lady who graciously takes my times when I am gone, but I miss them personally. Also with all this cold weather and snow here, I miss many even when I an home, for instance tonight I should be going, but they canceled it again because it snowed today. I am not on board with all the cancellations, think they are being way too reactive about it. They called it off two days ago in anticipation! Bu I have no control over that. I am thinking that since I was fretting over this just today, then got on the forum for the first time in two weeks today, then read about this today, that God is sending me a message... (y)

If I used my adoration time, it would be every Tuesday morning at 4 am Rome-time. Perfect.

I should read back first, maybe this suggestion of yours Padraig is a better and more flowing approach. Plus keeps us all on motheofgod.

I'm amazed and delighted!! We are ready to take off !!!!!!
Indy, you are a genious, that's exactly the kind of thing I had in mind.

I would suggest that we add one more row to every day, at the end of the 24 hours, something like :"Any Time" in the day so that people who don't have a set time but a set devotion that they do every day although at different hours depending on the day, they can also add their names, and maybe an initial of the devotion, or the aproximate time that it takes them to pray.
This is to allow broader participation from people who might feel intimidated by the full hour slots.

Also, don't know what would others think, but maybe we could have the hours divided in two half-hour slots? again to make it more friendly for people to sign up. Let's see what others think about this.

Thank you very much, Indy. May God reward you!

And thank you again to everyone, from Padraig to each one of you. And especially a bigh THANK YOU to our Patroness and Queen Extraordinaire, our Mother and the MOTHER OF GOD, for giving us this gift of grace that will help us move one step forward into a real community of prayer and discipleship. All for the Glory of God!

I seem to be able to access and modify the information in the spreadsheet whether I'm signed in or not. We would need to check that it is not accessible for non members -basic safety I think.

I like the idea of half hour slots - it will come at the cost of making the spreadsheet bigger though.
There's also simply noting within the hour slot the part of the hour you'll be praying.
There's nothing to stop more than one person making an entry within the slot.

I hope I'm not being too pushy since this is wcwts's idea, but maybe we call this project MoG Perpetual Prayer Garden since I think it better describes what this will be, and Padraig wrote a lot about the gardens of prayer. also it would be great if Padraig could add to the forum page the person who is praying at that time. similar to how we can see members logged on and visitors. iit could link to the spreadsheet so people don't have to log in. that is a technical project that may not be feasible. anyway...just some suggestions :D

The forum would probably blow up if I tried that Cathy. :) I have grown wary of tinkering too much with the insides of things on the forum, computer programes are so touchy and merciless and I am a computer cretin. o_O

Thanks very much Indy, for putting this work in it is kind of you. I like the idea that it is so simple and people can add or subtract as they like. It kind of organises itself.

I have put my name in and will start tonight. People should do this as a joyful thing and not feel scruples if they miss out a little. It is not like organising Perpetual Adoration. :)

I would love to see the effect it has on the forum. Many graces I ams ure.
