True Mario, but that would not make much sense for the context of the story in Genesis. The punishment for the serpent was because he deceived Eve, woman so thus the destruction of the devil would then come through woman. She shall crush his head....Mary in whom brought forth Christ. Christ is the one who defeats satan but it is because of this pure vessel, this new ark of the covenant, this "she" that brings forth his crushing. When you read Mystical City of God by Venerable Mary Agreda, the devil knew and searched always after this looking for the woman who would come to be his undoing. He scoured the earth for thousands of years always looking for this woman. Mary was God's secret from the beginning and at her birth he placed 1,000 angels around her to protect her identity from the devil.
Both good points Mario and Andy. But the word "it" makes no sense in the KJV "Now the King James bible: 15 And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel. Is Jesus or Mary an "it"?
Digging up an old chestnut here I know, but, I had a wonderful read of the Catechism of St. Pius X recently. I read it cover to cover quite quickly and have a feeling I will read it many more times in my life. I was amazed at just how my times I read items in the Catechism of Saint Pius X that either I don’t know, or didn’t clearly understand until I read it. On this thread, replying to my own post five years later, Pope St Pius X explains what to do with a Protestant Bible. Believe it or not, burning it is OK (I’m just a surprised as you I’m sure). When I read the below in the Catechism, I immediately thought of this question I had in this thread.
