It's quite astonishing really.. He seems such a truly good guy too. Like someone you would like to meet; very honest.
By not being brought up as an Orthodox Jew John didn’t have a lifetime of reinforcing that the saviour is still to come. His open mind was truly a gift from God. Bishop Barron had an interesting interview with a Jewish person some time back were the guy asked the Bishop straight out if, since he did not believe in Jesus as Messiah he would not be saved. Bishop Barron fumbled and dropped the ball. of course, since being straight about it would have meant not being nice....and heaven forbid we do or say something that wasn't nice. I kind of sympathise with the Bishop on this since I would have been tempted too. It's hard to be straight sometimes.
