Jesus Prayer meets the Divine Mercy

We need Divine Mercy more than ever right now.

I’ve modified the “Jesus Prayer” for my personal use and this is my prayer throughout the day, even if I’m not able to pray or repeat anything more at that moment:

    Lord Jesus Christ,
    Son of the Living God,
Have mercy on me, a sinner,
    and on the whole world.

That way the Jesus Prayer takes on a more intercessory aspect than it otherwise would - kinda like an “east meets west” cross between the traditional Jesus Prayer and the Divine Mercy prayer

I used to use a chotki with it (https://catholicexchange.com/the-chotki-our-other-overlooked-prayer-beads), but now I just say it three times together, over and over.

It’s my one go to prayer I can say at any time. E7CE70B1-DFAF-4B59-8520-C15F0C7D5B4D.jpeg 332CB69F-246D-4F3A-ABD9-EC9985990219.jpeg

The above prayer is beautiful and encompasses so much!

Like You Brian I have modified prayers, so as to incorporate the messages and graces offered by our dear Mother and Our Lord Himself.

I have did this with the three Hail Mary devotion.

Three Hail Marys is a traditional Roman Catholic devotional practice of reciting three Hail Marys as a petition for purity and other virtues. Believers recommend that it be prayed after waking in the morning, and before going to bed, following the examination of conscience at night.

Our Lady has expanded on this over the centuries!

*In the 17 Century the Angelus ascribed to Pope Urban II, but initiated by Pope John XXII in the year 1317. The triple recitation is ascribed to Louis XI of France, who in 1472 ordered it to be recited three times daily. The form of the prayer was standardised by the 17th century.

*In 1830 at Rue Du Bac where Our Lady appeared to St Saint Catherine Labouré, I once read that we should pray 3 Hail Mary's with the invocation of “O Mary, conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to Thee” between each Hail Mary.

    * Additionally I have also read That Our Lady in 1858 when appearing to St Bernadette in Lourdes wanted this invocation recited: By Thy Immaculate conception Oh Mary make our bodies pure and our souls holy

    * and again I have read that the sorrowful Heart of Mary should be venerated before and with the Immaculate heart and I remember it stressed that the sorrowful heart of Mary would be invoked and venerated in the last times. Sorrowful and Immaculate Heart of Mary, Pray for Us

    * I also have devotion to the Rosa Mystica. Rosa Mystica Pray for us

Therefore For Many years I pray the Angelus as below.....

    V. The Angel of the Lord declared unto Mary,
    R. And she conceived of the Holy Spirit.

Hail Mary, Full of Grace, The Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners now, and at the hour of death.

O Mary, conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to Thee
"By Thy Immaculate conception Oh Mary make our bodies pure and our souls holy"
"Sorrowful and Immaculate Heart of Mary, Pray for Us"

    "Rosa Mystica Pray for us"

    V. Behold the handmaid of the Lord.
    R. Be it done unto me according to Your Word.

    V. And the Word was made flesh,
    R. And dwelt among us.

Pray for us Oh Holy Mather of God that we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ

    Let us pray:

Pour forth, we beseech You, O Lord,
    Your Grace into our hearts;
that as we have known the incarnation of Christ,
your Son by the message of an angel,
so by His passion and cross
we may be brought to the glory of His Resurrection.
Through the same Christ, our Lord.

    Amen.
