Hi Jo. Did you read this, from your own link: "
This story is from the 10/10 the updated story is here"

    From your link i.e. https://greekcitytimes.com/2023/10/10/orthodox-church-gaza-not-bombed/

And when you click the updated link instead of the old story, it says:

"The interior ministry in Gaza has declared the Greek Orthodox Church building in the central city to have collapsed, attributing it to Israeli raids."

    https://greekcitytimes.com/2023/10/20/greek-orthodox-church-gaza-collapses/

So the first is from 10/10, and the 2nd is from 10/20, as the dates for each show.

https://twitter.com/jacksonhinklle/status/1715399066664784143 Video in the link. The bombing going on is clearly indiscriminate, as I called it out long ago and said it would be in the OP. The facts and figures available the time - more in 6 days than the US did in an entire year in Afghanistan, and then Gaza is almost 1/2000th the Size of Afghanistan, for anyone who is able to do the analysis or has read it - alone left no doubt about the conclusion.

Subsequent facts have only made it more clear and left hardly any doubt about the intention. Let's pray for discernment as we seek the Truth. In Jesus' Name. Amen.

The report may be exaggerated but it seems the Church was actually targeted. Here's the Vatican's response: https://www.vaticannews.va/en/churc...trike-on-greek-orthodox-building-in-gaza.html

Xavier, I know that you mean well, but do you think you might be over-using the copy and paste? It reminds me of that Wasserman Shulz woman in the US. She overdoes the antisemitism accusations so much that she'd turn anyone against the Jews. I expect to read some day that she called someone an anti-semite because they made a mistake about the time of day. And let's not forget that Biden is "Catholic" albeit the kind of Catholic who can't be accused of having the dogma live loudly in him.

Well, ok, but as St. Bernadette said: "My job is to inform, not to convince", all I want is that the information is out there. Then people can read for themselves and make their own informed decision. I've not seen anyone else analyze the relative sizes of Gaza and Afghanistan and arrive at the conclusion of what was coming many days before many others who've now caught on did it. That I did myself. Other times I feel others have already done a good and accurate job of analyzing what is going on, no doubt after comparing multiple streams of news themselves and arriving at the Truth. Then, I share what they did, because I think it accurate. But ok. I agree with what the Churches said in the link you shared. God Bless.

"In a strongly-worded statement, the Greek Greek Orthodox Patriarchate condemned the strike.

A statement released 19 October stressed that “targeting churches and its affiliated institutions, in addition to the shelters they provide to protect innocent citizens, especially children and women who lost their homes as a result of the Israeli bombing of residential areas during the past thirteen days, constitutes a war crime that cannot be ignored.”

The World Council of Churches (WCC) has also strongly condemned the attack.

“We condemn this unconscionable attack on a sacred compound and call upon the world community to enforce protections in Gaza for sanctuaries of refuge, including hospitals, schools, and houses of worship,” said the WCC general secretary Rev. Jerry Pillay. “Our prayers go out for healing to all those wounded, along with our condolences to Patriarch Theophilos II and all our Greek Orthodox brothers and sisters in Christ.”

When I saw this Vatican link it prompted me to do a little more research, so thank you for sharing this. According to USA Today, the Gaza church bombing that was was originally reported on 10/9 and posted to Twitter/ X was indeed fake news. A more recent bombing that occurred just yesterday on 10/19 did unfortunately hit the church.:(

The following editors note was added to the USA Today article to clarify the situation:

Editor's note: Saint Porphyrios Orthodox Church was bombed on Oct. 19, 10 days after the claim fact-checked here. This does not affect the rating for this claim since at the time it was made the church had not been damaged.

Yes, they bombed the compound, killing many people there. The aim seems to be to clear Gaza of as many Palestinians as possible and then carpet bomb it to smithereens. The strike is meant to scare the people out of there. That also seems to have been the intent of the strike on the hospital. People who know warfare say that Hamas are in tunnels and if the Israelis don't carpet bomb it they will have to do urban warfare which is more dangerous for their own forces. The poor Palestinians know that if they leave now they will never be permitted to return. God help them.

I watched today part of an interview with Victor David Hanson. He is someone I had respected. That interview drastically changed my opinion of him. I hadn't the stomach to watch to the end. The cold, callous way he spoke about what he expects the Israelis to do appalled me. He likened it to how the Americans took Fallujah and came across as equally dismissive of the residents there.

War...the devil revels in it! Death and destruction breeds alienation, hatred, and desire for revenge. Think of WWI. Millions died and millions wounded. The victors, who also instigated the expansion of that war, ignored President Wilson's peace proposal. They dumped the guilt upon Germany and imposed harsh reparations. Fifteen years later Hitler cultivated the latent resentment which in turn led to WWII.

The Evil One inflames hearts with hatred and the desire for revenge. Justice, justice, justice is the resultant cry of the victors with revenge as its true foundation.

Matthew 5:43 You have heard that it was said, ‘Love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ 44 But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, 45 that you may be children of your Father in heaven. He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous.

Mario, I keep thinking of this, too. There are no winners in war, just casualties and pain. The devil pushes and pushes for war, murder, and the destruction of mankind.

My late French teacher, born in 1898 in Louisiana, told us that World War I was touted as the “War to end all wars.” She got married after that war ended to a young man who had fought in WWI and returned home. Their oldest son was killed in WWII and I can still hear the anguish in her voice as she said, “World War I was supposed to be the war to end all wars.”

Xavier, I think your views on the war in the Middle East are good food for thought. Often, I find myself in agreement with your statements on this matter. Also, it seems you are coming from a basis of strong personal Catholic faith, which unites people here.

Perhaps, by heavily use of the copy and paste function and by publishing very many posts, you are overdoing it a bit, thus putting off some people whom you might otherwise convince. Just a thought...

    God bless!

Xavier, I think you've strayed into the "convince" territory. This has gone beyond putting things out there.

Michael, thanks, I appreciate the feedback. Will consider it. In the meanwhile, another hospital in Gaza received a Bomb Threat from Zionist Israel.

"ISRAEL IS THREATENING TO BOMB ANOTHER HOSPITAL Palestine Red Crescent Society received a threat from Israel that it will bomb Al-Quds hospital, which holds over 400 patients and more than 12,000 civilians already displaced by Israeli bombing. Israel is a criminal state!"

Some people are like: "if it happens beyond my borders, I don't care about what happens to the people there". A callous attitude indeed and not at all a Christian or humane one, let alone a pro life one that affirms every life does matter. We're seeing precisely the mistakes made after 9/11 repeating themselves. I stand with Pope St. John Paul II the Great who opposed the Iraq War which "Bibi" Netanyahu and other liars and terrorists pushed for.

I will never stand with Zionist Israel or any terror state that bombs civilians including women and children let alone churches/places of worship indiscriminately.

They're openly acknolwedging it was them this time: https://www.wsj.com/livecoverage/is...for-church-blast-in-gaza-ItyUvoIPaeNBEsIeIS6J

"The Israeli military said that a blast Thursday night on the St. Porphyrius Greek Orthodox Church campus in Gaza City was the result of its airstrike.

The blast resulted in the collapse of a building adjacent to the church where dozens of people were sheltering and killed two people. Hundreds were sheltering on the campus of the church. The Israeli military said a wall of a church in the area was damaged. “The incident is under review,” it said. The Patriarchate of Jerusalem didn't respond to request for comment Friday. On Thursday, it denounced the incident as an Israeli bombing."

a us congressman Justin Amash wrote:"I was really worried about this. with great sadness, I have now confirmed that several of my relatives (including Viola and Yara pictured here) were killed at Saint Porphyrius Orthodox Church in Gaza, where they had been sheltering, when part of the complex was destroyed as the result of an Israeli airstrike. Give rest, O Lord, to their souls, and may their memories be eternal. The Palestinian Christian community has endured so much. Our family is hurting badly. May God watch over all Christians in Gaza—and all Israelis and Palestinians who are suffering, whatever their religion or creed." https://twitter.com/justinamash/status/1715470077196194068
