Just reading on local news NI that diesel could hit £2 a litre (£9 a gallon /approx $12 a gallon) by the end of the week. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-northern-ireland-60650159 This is going to hit me hard as my work is 45 minutes from my home - so a round trip of one and a half hours worth of fuel per day.
Terrible. The cost of housing has skyrocketed too, the average family will not be able to endure much more of this.
I wound up using up most of my prep stuff a couple of years ago. The hardest thing for me to face was that I had 6 bags of flour wrapped in plastic to keep out the bugs. I found out the hard way that the plastic didn't keep out the mice. Every bag of that flour had to be tossed. Still, I might go ahead and buy some extra foodstuff next paycheck -- some extra flour, some dried milk, stuff like that. I may even make some more ghee (shelf-stable butter) to keep on hand.
St Therese.... Falling asleep in prayer is falling asleep in the arms of Jesus. A postulent asks the superior... "Is it OK if I smoke when I pray?" SUPERIOR "Absolutely not, devote yourself fully to prayer" Postulent: ' "Is it OK for me to pray when I smoke?" SUPERIOR: " Absolutely, strive to pray always."
miker, I have been asked by my pastor to close Adoration with Benediction at 10pm every Thursday. Usually I arrive at 9pm so that I can spend a good chunk of time with Jesus. So yes, it can be very relaxing; and yes, your wife is correct. So I look to spend a chunk of that time in silence, but I also fill in some segments with a Chaplet of Divine Mercy, a Scripture passage, or whatever to avoid dozing off. This is especially important if someone else is present hoping to assist during Benediction. It would be embarrassing to fall asleep and leave him or her hanging.
There is talk of oil reaching 300 dollars a barrel if the west hits Russia with oil sanctions. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-60656673
I'm beginning to think that all these things are not 'bugs', but features in the programme. One way of drastically reducing our usage of fossil fuels.
When the full impact of the cost of oil escalates and the world economies crash, it won’t be pretty. Thank the globalist who are engineering this…there is a back story and we’re not privy to it….yet.
Biden banned oil imports into US. In his speech he says the US needs to use this opportunity to move to clean energy sources. Refraining from saying anything else
Combine all that with the objective insanity of 'Modern Monetary Theory', whereby one can borrow forever without consequence and which has created unprecedented and unimaginable amounts of debt.
Ananchal, I'm wondering if the Biden administration is planning to use this fuel crisis (gasoline prices are heading to all-time record highs and possible shortages are soon on their way leading to God only knows what, I 'm thinking of Venezuela) as a reason to allow mail-in ballots for the elections in November like they did 2 years ago during the pandemic. "Never let a crisis go to waste". I find it a little difficult to think of anything else but the war in the Ukraine for the past week or so but these upcoming elections are quite crucial. Without the Republicans regaining a majority in the House then Biden and his cronies will not be brought to justice and will continue to wreak havoc on the US and the world. The Democrats know this and I believe that they will be up to any possible trick they can use to keep their power in the government.
David Healy, Sunday at 6:24 PM Davids' post led me to a Eureka moment that I'm sure y'all had been aware of a long time ago ( It just takes me awhile to catch up with everybody else)! You know how God always pulls something good out of something..."not so good"? Well. I think he did it again! I think he used the dreaded Covid 19 as a unforeseen spiritual BONUS!! The lock downs...our withdrawal from society and the ensuing isolation that we all had to endure were just what HE needed at this time in history. WE no longer had the excuse that we were too busy..dashing here an there ....running around doing the "stuff" of our daily lives. NOW... we were home 24/7 and had plenty of time to respond fully to the urgent pleas of Our Lady to PRAY! PRAY! PRAY! and pray some more. VERY CLEVER ..... don't ya think?? In the beginning I ...like many others spent most of that time occupying myself with all kinds of distractions while waiting for things to get back to "normal". But...as time went on ... I was feeling the urgency of our Mothers pleas and my prayer/ spiritual life increased more and more... as she requested.. I considered myself lucky since I am retired and at this stage of my life have no else to cater to. I have to admit...I did start to get bogged down with the political discussions on this forum and found myself spending tons of time searching for information related to the deliberations there of. (I think I posted something about that on one of these threads). So ...I dropped out of most of those topics because it took away from my prayer time ( which...by the way... takes up much of my day). I like to consider myself a Prayer Warrior and doing what ever Mother Mary asks of me I consider to be my JOB!! In fact ..when this pandemic started to die down and I was slowly beginning to go back to do the things I used to do before Covid arrived (this was my EUREKA moment!) I found that I just plain did not have time for these normal daily activities...they infringed on my prayer time!! Gotta go... third rosary for the day !!
