In Christianity, the central core is the revelation that ‘The Infinite’, the ‘Wholly Other’; ‘That which cannot be named’; is revealed to us as a deeply personal loving God, In Jesus Christ. Many prefer Deism, an impersonal force who made the Universe, then left it alone. A relationship does not enter into the equation, nor any concept of love, obedience and humble service to the creator.

Christians often forget the depth of God’s love as presented to us in Jesus Christ. He told his Apostles, and tells us today, “That to see me, is to see the Father”. It is a hard reality to grasp. It is for me. All the years as a monk I have struggled with this central mystery of Christ Jesus’s revelation of the Father’s love for each of us. It is because my heart is protected. I fear the pain that love brings, yet I seek to dive more deeply into it. So there is an inner contradiction that I experience that can only be healed by the grace of the Father’s burning love. There is a standing invitation to allow ourselves to be drawn into the eternal dance of the ‘Holy Trinity’, which will never be withdrawn from God’s side.

The paradox to this is that in order to fully allow God’s love to embrace me, I have to grow in the understanding of my inner-self and the often not so beautiful aspect of that. I can be fearful, that leads to anger, which at bottom, anxiety is feeding it all. I am 69 years old and at this stage of my life, finally starting to open up and to trust in God love for me. It has taken many self-inflicted wounds, the experiencing of my own self-hatred, and alienation, that has slowly healed me.

For in my darkest hour, when filled with my own misery and isolation, the light of God’s love has always broken through. I have accepted the fact that I am pursued by God, and that God will never let me go. Yet I am free and have had to make a choice to trust even when drowning in my own misery. For it is all lies, that I am beyond help, or healing, or mercy. We are all vessels of God’s love and each of us is called to allow Christ Jesus to incarnate in each of us. Our capacity to receive God’s love grows as we continue to grow in love and trust. When I pray I now feel my connection to every human being who are on their journey towards healing and deeper intimacy with God, for we are all one in Christ Jesus.

In the book “In Sinu Jesu”, Jesus speaks to a Benedictine Monk of his love for each of us, and in a special way, for the priest, and how that love is manifested in his abiding presence in the Holy Eucharist. As a Catholic, I can take the reality of Christ Jesus’s Eucharistic presence for granted. This book can open up anyone’s heart to the infinite depth of God’s love for each of us, without exception.

Karl Rahner stated that ‘private revelations’, are given to the church at different points in time because it is needed. It is not a new revelation but stated in terms that can be understood by people in certain eras. Today, love has seemed to have grown cold, or colder. So we need to be reminded of the Fathers infinite love for each of us.

On Tuesday, January 26th, 20 10 (pg. 139) Jesus relayed this message to the Benedictine monk:

“Do you not see how much I have been calling you to trust in me? Trust is the key that opens all the treasures of My merciful and infinitely loving Heart. I am touched by a single act of trust in My merciful love more than by a multitude of good works. The soul who trusts in Me allows Me to work freely in her life. The soul who trust Me, by that very fact removes the obstacles of pride and self-determination that impede My freedom of action. There is nothing I will not do for the soul who abandons herself to me in a simple act of trust”.

Either ‘fear’ or ‘trust’ is growing in the soul. The more we love, fear will lessen. The opposite is also true. The more we believe ‘fear’, then ‘trust’ will weaken. Fear is a form of self-absorption, trust is letting go of being overly concerned about one’s self and seeking to grow deeper in intimacy with the beloved.

As Christian we are called to be lovers, to show forth Christ infinite love for all. When that is forgotten, then fear, and anxiety, and anger will come to the fore. That is how we protect ourselves from others, we place barriers. It is only by the healing of our inner defenses, which we receive through Jesus Christ, that we can let go of fear. It is not something we can do on our own, yet we can make a free choice to trust and in that God’s healing love will flow through us.

There is nothing that can stop God loving us, yet we can choose to turn our backs on that reality. Each day is a new beginning. Each moment even. For no matter where we find ourselves, there is always a way out through the merciful love of Christ Jesus. We stop being victims and can step forward in hope and faith and love. –Br.MD

I am only half way through this book, because I will only read one or two messages from our Lord in adoration daily. The words are to intimate and powerful to read it like other books. The one thing I believe that keeps many faithful from entering into these type of messages, is it because they have not grasped our Lord's own words: Matthew 18:3 "And said: Amen I say to you, unless you be converted, and become as little children, you shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven." Luke 18:17 "Amen, I say to you: Whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a child, shall not enter into it."

It seems to me that the more one enters into the study of the faith, the less many become trusting in our Lord's words as a child. Many things he and our Lady have revealed through their messengers, which he wants us to know over time, is often dismissed as heretical even if it is not contrary to doctrine, because they refuse to see things through the eye's of the simpleness of the faith as a child does.

    Mark,

Due to an intense level of responsibilities over the last 6 months, I had curtailed my time on MOG. I have missed pondering your meditations. I have missed you. It is good to be back. This theme of trust reminds me of the Novena of Abandonment:

    Day 9

Pray always in readiness to surrender, and you will receive from it great peace and great rewards, even when I confer on you the grace of immolation, of repentance and of love. Then what does suffering matter? It seems impossible to you? Close your eyes and say with all your soul, “Jesus, you take care of it”. Do not be afraid, I will take care of things and you will bless My name by humbling yourself. A thousand prayers cannot equal one single act of surrender, remember this well. There is no novena more effective than this.

O Jesus, I surrender myself to you, take care of everything!

    Fatima,

I sense a little frustration and disappoint in what you have written. It reminds me of a time in the life of my family when we were discerning whether or not to leave a parish because my wonderful wife and I were growing weary of doing damage control. Our pastor was sowing confusion in my older children through the content of his homilies. A family in the parish whom we loved and trusted (godparents of our son, Patrick), chose to stay because the deeper concern on their hearts was being addressed by a close-knit group of families in the parish. At that time the Weinbergers chose to stay and we moved on to another parish. Sometimes God works on a particular heart issue that differs from what He is working on in the hearts of others. I am often a weak creature who can only handle one issue at a time.:)

Safe in the Refuge of the Immaculate Heart!

Mario, I see why our Lady normally appeared to children and not adults. Faithful children are quick to accept Mary's messages (Fatima children, Bernadette, LaSallette children come to mind. While heaven does appear to adults, it is normally ones that are poor inspirit, but there has been the Jonha's well. I agree we are all on a journey of faith and God's grace is sufficient for all. In the end, God will sort it all out.

    continued from above:

Book of Heaven, December 17, 1903 The adoration that the Most Holy Virgin did when She encountered Jesus carrying the Cross. The true spirit of adoration.

Continuing in my usual state, for a few instants I saw blessed Jesus with the Cross on His shoulders, in the act of encountering His Most Holy Mother; and I said to Him: ‘Lord, what did your Mother do in this most sorrowful encounter?’
And He: “My daughter, She did nothing but a most profound and simple act of adoration. And since the simpler the act, the more easily it unites with God, Most Simple Spirit, in this act She infused Herself in Me and continued what I Myself was doing in my interior. This was immensely pleasing to Me, more than if She had done any other greater thing. In fact, the true spirit of adoration consists in this: the creature dissolves herself and finds herself in the divine sphere; she adores all that God does, and she unites with Him. Do you think that when the mouth adores but the mind is somewhere else, it is true adoration? That is, the mind adores but the will is far away from Me? Or, one power adores Me, and the others are all disordered? No, I want everything for Myself, and everything I have given her, in Me. This is the greatest act of cult, of adoration, that the creature can do for Me.”

In revelations to an Irish monk, presented in the book In Sensu Jesu, are these words: "I will give you My light about the things that weigh upon you, or sadden you, or perplex you. Bring everything to Me and I will give you in exchange My grace and My love. It is fear more than anything else that prevents you from coming into My Presence with confidence, with hope, and with a quiet heart. Approach me with childlike confidence and you will never be disappointed." And so, a prayer given us by a priest:

Heavenly Father, You are light; and in You there is no darkness (cf. 1 John 1:5). In the beginning, when You created the heavens and the earth, You said, "Let there be light," and there was light.

Lord Jesus, You came into the world as a light, so that no one who believes in you should stay in darkness (cf. John 12:46). I believe that You are the light of the world (cf. John 9:5), and I want to become a child of the light (cf. John 12:36). I want to follow You and have the light of life (cf. John 8:12). I want to live by the truth and come into the light (cf. John 3:21) -- the true light that darkness has not overcome and that gives light to everyone (cf. John 1:5, 9).

Lord Jesus, You came to baptize me with the Holy Spirit and fire (cf. Luke 3:16) and to bring fire to the earth (cf. Luke 12:49). You have called me in righteousness and have taken hold of my hand. Make me a light for the nations, to open the eyes that are blind, to free captives from prison, and to release from the dungeon those who sit in darkness (cf. Isaiah 42:6-7).

Lord Jesus, BATHE ME WITH YOUR LIGHT. Set my heart on fire with the power of Your love. Fan into flame the gifts that you have already given me (cf. 2 Timothy 1:6) and fill me afresh with the Holy Spirit so that I may be clothed with the armor of light (cf. Romans 13:12) and speak the word of God with boldness (cf. Acts 4:31).

In the beautiful name of Jesus, I declare that I have seen a great light and that a light has dawned in my heart (cf. Matthew 4:16). In the powerful name of Jesus, I proclaim that I am a child of the light and a child of the day (cf. Thessalonians 5:5) and that I am going to let my light shine before others so that they may glorify my Father in Heaven (cf. Matthew 5:16), who has qualified me to share in the inheritance of his holy people in the Kingdom of light (cf. Colossians 1:12), where night shall be no more and where the Lord God will be my Light for ever and ever (cf. Rev. 22:5). Amen

In my reading of In Sinu Jesu today in adoration I read the following:

2/13/09 "Make the writings of My little Josefa known to the priests I will show you. They will find in them a remedy, a comfort, and a source of confidence in My merciful love. They are not for all; not all are humble enough to hear the message of My Heart, but the broken and the wounded, those devastated by sin will understand them and will rejoice in the message of My love".

One of the first books I read after the story of Fatima 30+ years ago, was the one written by Sister Josefa Menendez, called The Way of the Divine Will. Perhaps this is why I love the mystical and life of those who gave everything to God's Divine Mercy, His Divine Will. Josefa was surely loved by our Lord and a true suffering servant unknown by even the other Sisters around her until she died at the age of 33. Then the learned through her mystical writings how so very close to God she really was.
