How do you handle family prayer when you have company?

We have been praying the rosary as a family before bed for about a year and half. We have one eight year old son. We also try to read the daily Bible readings at that time too.

We have company at our house all weekend. We are wondering how other families handle prayer time when you have people at your house? Do you just say we are going to pray the rosary before bed you are welcome to join us? Skip it for that night? I struggle with pride and what people think. Yes, even when it's friends and family I feel like people may think we are acting holier than thou.

Thanks for any suggestions/answers you would be willing to share.

It's not pride at all. Ask them to join you and if they do that is great but if they decline, then I would gather your family at appropriate time and pray. I think you may be surprised and they will join you in pray!

"We are going to pray the rosary before bed, you are welcome to join us" sounds perfect to me. No pressure, no fuss; if they join you, great; if they don't, that's fine too. More often than not the 'holier than thou' attitude exists more in the eye of the beholder than in the one doing the action. We can't control how others choose to perceive us, the best we can do is just humbly serve.
