I only remember seeing one Islamic plaque in St. Sofia. Looking at this video, there are at least four! And the writing includes the names of Muhammed, some of his grandchildren as well as some caliphs. You can see how ugly and incongruous they look. https://www.khanacademy.org/humanit...al-europe-islamic-world/v/hagia-sophia-mosque Given half a chance, Erdogan will turn it into a mosque and it wouldn't surprise me in the least to see representatives of Western governments falling over themselves to attend the grand opening.
The balance of power is changing. Turkey is becoming alienated from the US and seems to have moved closer to Russia. This may have embraved the bishop. An attempt to bring Turkey in will topple the EU. The Eastern countries will not stand for it.
Erdogan will make the most of Turkey's strategic position. NATO is a gift that keeps on giving for him. Like all Islamists, he wants the Islamisation of Europe. (I have heard even moderate Muslims refer to lands lost to the Crusaders as "Islamic lands"). Russia can't deliver on that goal. Merkel conceding joint citizenship for German Turks in return for slowing the flow of migrants was a mistake. She cracked under pressure then and he knows that all it takes to get what he wants is the right pressure at the right time. Hungary might hold out for a while but will cave eventually. Poland is the key Eastern country and joint pressure from the EU and NATO will get Poland into line. The Polish government is already under pressure and don't forget that Donald Tusk is Polish and has a support base at home which is likely being used to undermine the Government.
http://liturgicalnotes.blogspot.co.uk/2017/05/fatima.html Fatima I beg to remind you that, in as couple of days, the Fatima centenary will be under way. I wrote the following last October. The Fatima visionaries, poor little peasant mites, are unlikely to have known this; but, in the first millennium, May 13 was sometimes a festival of our Lady within the Roman Rite. To me, who incline to share S John Paul's view that in the workings of Providence there are no coincidences, this seems interesting. This is how it happened. In 609, Pope S Boniface IV dedicated the old Roman Pantheon, built originally by Marcus 'Actium' Agrippa but subsequently rebuilt after a fire, as the Church of Sancta Maria ad Martyres. He did this in collaboration with the emperor Phocas ... not an altogether nice chap, but possibly the last emperor, I think, not to use the style Basileus; it had thus taken more than six centuries to dissipate the old Roman gut sentiment which animated Brutus and his associates, to the effect that no-one in Rome ought to deem himself Rex ... but I'm rambling again ... Phocas donated an Ikon of our Lady which is still enthroned above the Altar of that Church; and the relics of many of the martyrs were disinterred and brought into the church; hence its name. This was the period when Marian Ikons, and relics of Saints, used to be processed round the wall of Constantinople when barbarian enemies appeared on the scene; I rather suspect that Pope S Boniface had in mind to construct a defensive powerhouse in Old Rome rather than merely to stimulate pious devotion. Pre-modern, and particularly First Millennium, Christianity has a very practical and down-to-earth side to it. Possibly Pope and Emperor may even have had in mind the idea that, just as Actium had (according to the Augustan PR machine) saved Rome, so the Theotokos and the Martyrs might do the same in their own day. In the early centuries of the English Church, this festival on May 13 seems to have been important. The Leofric Missal, the Altar Book of the early Archbishops of Canterbury, based on texts brought to England by S Augustine, includes it and, interestingly, demonstrates the continuing relevance of this festival by including in the text later scribal additions and adaptations. Perhaps the Church of S Mary in Canterbury emulated the mother church in Rome. Something similar appears to have happened in Exeter (to which the Leofric Missal was later taken), where a Saxon church of Sancta Maria ad Martyres lay, I think, West of the present Cathedral and on the same axis. I am sure that the significance of the Martyrs will have struck readers. The Third Secret of Fatima is full of the theme of Martyrs and Martyrdom; indeed, we are still living in an Age of Martyrs which rivals any earlier such age. I would draw the attention of those who do not know it to the official CDF documentary collection of 2000, The Message of Fatima, and especially to the fine and elegant exposition by Cardinal Ratzinger. To which I return on Saturday. Sancta Maria ad Martyres, ora pro nobis
http://www.ewtn.com/v/experts/showmessage.asp?number=326829 EWTN.com - The Three Days of Darkness Question: Where in the book of Revelations does it read about the three days of darkness and the end of time? Answer: The prophecy of three days of darkness is not in the Book of Revelation but in the revelations of the end times provided by Catholic prophets St. Caspar del Bufulo, Blessed Anna Maria Taigi, Blessed Elizabeth Canori-Mora and Blessed Mary of Jesus Crucified. These holy Catholics of the 19th century, the last two of whom Pope John Paul II beatified, speak of a Minor Tribulation of the world (minor compared to the Great Tribulation of the Antichrist at the end of the world), as a time of purification leading into an age of peace. This "era of peace" is presumably that prophesized to the children of Fatima, and which St. John Eudes, St. Louis de Monfort, and others, have spoken of variously as a Marian age, or an Eucharistic age, or a Social Reign of Jesus Christ. It is not, in Catholic prophecy, a physical reign of Jesus on the earth, such as the Protestants expect, since that is the heresy of millenarianism. Rather, it is a time in which the Church will flourish, the Gospel will be spread to the far corners of the earth, but which will eventually devolve into the time of the Antichrist, whom Christ will slay with the breath of His Coming. THAT will be the end. As for the three days of darkness, when it is said all light will be extinguished and hell loosed upon the earth, it is said to be the culminating event of the Minor Tribulation, and follows upon what man has reaped by his own self-will: war, violence, natural calamities and disease. Is it to be taken literally or figuratively? I don't know. Regarding the Third Secret of Fatima the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith wrote that the prophecies of authentic private revelation, like those of Scripture, are symbolic. So, perhaps it refers to the times in which we live, in which hell does seem to be loosed. But symbolic prophecies can have exact historical fulfillments, as the shooting of the Pope did in connection with the Fatima secret. So, perhaps it will have some more literal fulfillment in an event of evident divine punishment. Even the Third Secret threatens that, in the angel's sword poised to strike the earth unless man repents. Finally, since prophecy is intended to change our behavior to conform to the will of God, it could be that these prophecies, from reliable and holy sources, could or have been mitigated (lessened in intensity, or even changed to a different event). Like the prophecies fortelling the coming of Christ, it is entirely possible that only after the events will Catholics be able to look back and identify their exact fulfillment. For a thorough summary of the biblical, patristic and Catholic prophetic tradition regarding the end times, read Desmond Birch's Trial, Tribulation and Triumph (Santa Barbara, CA., Queenship Publishing). See also my FAQ Endtimes/Millenium/Rapture
Nobody is compelled to accept private prophesy. I wonder if describing predictions as symbolic is, on the part of some, another way of not believing in these prophecies? Perhaps a form of denial? Yet, many of these private prophecies are very specific and couched in language that is plain and unflorid. Not only that, but, as the EWTN article above states, the prophecies of Fatima were very specific and some have materialised such as the 'errors of Russia', predicted ante facto to the October Revolution, and the outbreak of WWII, in which Our Lady was more accurate than the historical consensus.
linked removed see http://motheofgod.com/threads/attention-all-members-cyber-attack.10639/#post-172855 I hope I got this link right. It is from alleged messages from Jesus to Bonnie, a lady in Australia. I find this credible, and it is from 2013.
Glad you removed the link Thanks What I read online was an alleged message from Jesus to Bonnie A retired lady in Australia In 2013 He told her about the three days of darkness I just thought it was a current confirmation
I think because of my misconceived notions I miss these things which were right in front of me. Also, when Brian posted this I knew I had read this already online and therefore skimmed it. This is more proof of what I stated on the Signs thread about the 3 Days of Darkness is more than likely correct, a culmination of the minor tribulation which will be mostly man made. If we all believe that some of these ungodly rulers could be possessed, than when they make use of their barbaric weapons why wouldn't this be foretold has hell loosed upon the Earth?
I am inclined to believe your way of thinking , Carol55, except for one thing that I have read in the past. I have no clue where I read it, or if it was in more than one prophecy, and that is that we cannot look out our windows because no one can see the wrath of God and live. We are supposed to draw our curtains and shades tightly, not let anyone in, since demons will try to imitate our loved ones, and beg us to open the door. We are to light our blessed candles, and pray prostrate on the floor for the entire time. Our animals who are outside will be protected. So I do remember that the Three Days of Darkness involve the wrath of God. Sorry that I can't remember the origin.
Of course, I cannot be certain of anything and I have also read a prophecy about this appearing to be from heaven, may be in part it is? I am not certain about animals that are outside being protected but that is a good concern.
Don't forget the secrets revealed to the visionaries of Medjugorje. One concerns a permanent sign (column of smoke during the day, pillar of fire at night?) to appear on Apparition Hill. After the secrets which will change the world comes the Era of Peace.
I have noticed when God speaks (and it has only happened to me twice and I have assumed it was indeed Christ because both times the word came true) it was both literal and figurative. So amazing and wonderful. Symbolic but also actual as it happened. Perhaps the darkness of evil extinguishing the light of grace is thesymbolic part but then a real dense darkness will also fall. Just speculating here
I just came across this old post of mine. I think that I should have stated something like the following, we may experience Divine Peace but I wonder if it will last more than 3.5 years. I don't think it will be a false peace, it couldn't be a false peace if it is Divine but will it end in 3.5 years or will it last longer than that. I pray that it lasts a long time. The reason I came across this old post was due to the reason that I could not remember if I posted the following already and I was searching for the information. I heard this a few weeks ago and I just was reminded of it today, the temperature of the surface of the Sun is 5778 kelvin degrees. The Sun is said to represent God. So, could this suggest that the Hebrew year of 5778 which begins at sunset on 9/20/17 will be a significant year for Israel and possibly for the rest of the world. Time will tell. From Wikipedia, "The Sun is a G2V star, with G2 indicating its surface temperature of approximately 5,778 K (5,505 °C, 9,941 °F), and V that it, like most stars, is a main-sequence star.[51][52]" https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sun
Carol, is there some mistype in your posting or is there some sort of sign in the Hebrew Year 5778 and the temperature of the Sun at 5778K. It does seem an odd coincidence otherwise. Just wondering.
Julia, I apologize for not being more clear. My post is related to the Revelation 12 Sign that many people are anticipating to occur on 9/23/17, which is the day after the Feast of Trumpets (Rosh Hashanah) which will begin the Hebrew year 5778. I have also read that 5778 means divine peace. I hope this help explains my previous post. PS- The following thread will give you more information about the Revelation 12 Sign, http://motheofgod.com/threads/the-revelation-12-sign-wcwts.10718/
I have a question; what is the Church's official position, if any, on Soufanieh? What impressions do posters here have of the events at Soufanieh, and do you feel that they are valid / genuinely from God? Thank you!
