    TODAY IN GARABANDAL HISTORY:
    FRIDAY APRIL 13, 1962
A sacramental communion given by St. Michael to Conchita in ecstasy at the Pines, on the feat day of St. Hermenegild, a martyr of the the Eucharist honored as the “Clovis” of Spain. Now some have suggested he is the Miracle Martyr Saint ,but I have two possible problems with St. Hermenegild, who by most accounts was Spanish, and Conchita said the martyr saint was not Spanish. We have no idea how old he was, though he was a grown, married adult leading a revolt, so it would not have been clear to her that this was "a young martyr of the Eucharist" after she consulted the calendar in her home.

    Recollections of Benjamin Gómez
A man who witnessed several miracles at Garabandal

He tried to lift the girls in ecstasy and couldn’t
He saw a man in Purgatory
He was cured when near death
He saw Mary at the foot of his death bed
He taped the girls saying the rosary and heard Mary’s voice
He saw the Host appear on Conchita’s tongue “the Little Miracle “

    TODAY IN GARABANDAL HISTORY:APRIL 16, 1962

    THE "HOLY WEEK" AT GARABANDAL

Mercedes Salisachs, a Catalonian mother of five children, and also a woman of Letters well known in Spain, became an outstanding protagonist of the Garabandal event. She went to the famous little village four times, her first and overwhelming stay occurring during the Holy Week of April 1962. And quite understandably, since she was then to learn, at the end of the paschal vigil, through Mari-Loli but on behalf of the Blessed Virgin, that one of her sons, Miguel, a young talented artist-painter, killed in a car accident at the age of twenty-one, "was in heaven and that he was 'accompanying' her every day!"

    Pope Benedict XVI & Garabandal

Pope Benedict XVI knows all about Garabandal , and been very receptive to learning more about it. Not only has he met and interviewed Conchita, ( When I personally spoke to Conchita about the meeting in the Vatican , she told me she only met him when he was Cardinal Ratzinger, not as Pope Benedict.)
He has all the latest investigation papers, eyewitness testimonies of the miracles, etc. performed through the intercession of Our Lady of Garabandal, sent to him by the well known promoter the late Fr. Francis Benac, S.J. He has also read the Garabandal book
    “ O Children Listen to Me “

Cardinal Ratzinger became the Prefect (head) of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, on November 25, 1981,the Vatican department in charge of protecting the sacred deposit of the faith handed on from the apostles. Considering how close he was with Pope John Paul II, who was a vocal supporter of Garabandal, him meeting Conchita, reading up on the subject, it’s no surprise to me, that he is a believer too. The reason I say this is I have it on good authority that he has conveyed his belief to a Vatican priest ,who is also a Canon Lawyer (who wishes to remain nameless ).

According to journalist John L. Allen Jr.'s 2005 biography entitled: 'Pope Benedict XVI: A Biography of Joseph Ratzinger' (pages 118-119 ) his interest in Garabandal began long before becoming Prefect of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith. It actually began when he was a professor of theology at the Gustav Siewerth Haus Academy, located in Germany's Black Forest. Every summer he gave a course in dogmatic exegesis at the private academy from 1970 thru 1979. It is said that he knew of and took the Garabandal apparitions seriously even then. Author John Allen, Jr. confirmed this from several of Joseph Ratzinger's former graduate students.

Monsignor Juan Antonio del Val, in addition to giving permission for the movie made by BBC, made a personal investigation for several years about the Apparitions of Garabandal and is one of the witnesses on the video, “Garabandal, the Eyewitnesses,” produced by Michael Tubberty and published in more that thirty languages by Monsignor Roman Danylak, titular Bishop of Nyssa, Rome, Italy. (January 24, 2000).
Monsignor del Val testifies that the findings of the investigation of the Apparitions of the Most Holy Virgin Mary in Garabandal were sent to the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith; more specifically, to Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger. ( This led to Pope Benedict XVI interest and belief in Garabandal).

Glenn, I hope you are doing well. So many of us are watching these crazy world events unfold and feel that the Warning could happen relatively soon.

Since you mention the fact that the Miracle will coincide with the feast day of a Eucharistic martyr in the above post, I was wondering if there is any mention of this in the book Garabandal by Jaques Serre and Beatrice Caux and if so would you be able to provide the quote?

Specifically, I am curious if it is stated in this book that the saint is young because the only mention of the saint being young that I can find is in relation to the vision of Saint Tarcisius which Conchita experienced. You may be able to provide more information on this in general but in any case, I do wonder what the Serre/Caux book states about the Eucharistic martyr if anything. Thank you as always.

I checked all the pages that were related to the Miracle details, and none had any information about the Martyr. Sorry .

    Mary on Penance

Conchita said “ One day, during an apparition of Our Lady, we were wearing a "cilicio" around our waists (a chain worn for penance), although very loosely and, so that she would realize that we were wearing it, we would touch it every in a while. She said to us, “Yes, I know that you’re wearing it. But that’s not exactly what I ask of you all, nor is it what is most pleasing to me. What most pleases me is your fidelity in your daily, ordinary life.”

She also once told us, “If you were to see an angel and a priest together, you should honor the priest first.”

Glenn, Thank you very much. You answered my question, I wanted to know either way. I know that the martyr is mentioned in the book referred to as Conchita's Diary and also in Harry Daley's book but I thought that there was no mention of the martyr in Serre/Caux's book. Thank you.

At age 16 Conchita was already was spiritually wise: "There is no point in our believing in the apparitions if we do not heed the message."

    (Star on the Mountain, p. 118 )

“To guess at dates regarding the [prophesied] Miracle shows a lack of faith in the Blessed Virgin .Indeed, the energies expended on this are so much better spent on living the Message! “

March 2013 Glenn’s conversation with Conchita

With all of the arguing over which of the different visionary’s is right, predicting dates, the future of our new Pope, the direction of the church, I've learned one thing, its all distracting, and detracting from our spiritual goals. The best advice I ever got was from Conchita ( when I asked her about the direction of all these things) ,she talked about maintaining your spiritual life (Confession, penance ,mass, communion, the rosary, etc. ) and she said

" I surround my self with good people, pray and don't worry " .

( Sounds like she took the advice of her friend Padre Pio )

    Mari-Loli's 3-day journal written on
    April 19-20-21, 1967.

Several years ago Julia Mazon, the mother of Mari-Loli, one of the four Garabandal visionaries, found some packed-away things long forgotten from the days of the apparitions and beyond. Among these precious objects was a journal Mari-Loli kept while making her retreat in Balmori, Spain, in April 1967. She was not quite 18 years old.

Loli's writings are so deeply profound... never before read or published by anyone but what shines through is her simplicity and sincerity in such a way they cannot but help to increase the spiritual life of one's soul. Her intense desire to be so completely united with the Lord through the Holy Virgin Mary, is so overwhelming that she manages to capture her most intimate thoughts as she takes pen in hand to record them. Never did it cross her mind that one day her writings would shine out with tremendous hope not only to those who profess and try to do the will of God and yet fall so many times but to all humanity particularly the youth in the world. Therefore, I feel compelled to share them with you during this point in time:

    1st Day - Spiritual Exercises - April 19, 1967
I am going to start my exercises in which our Lord and the most Holy Virgin will speak to me by means of Rev. Father Gustavo Morelos. I propose to listen with great love and confidence so that our Lord by these means will illuminate my life so I can walk down a righteous path. I desire that in these days of intense union with our Lord and the Blessed Virgin my spiritual ideas will become clear.

Virgin Mary, grant that I through these exercises I may learn to love you as you deserve and wish to be loved. Please don't forsake me not even for an instant. I am so weak that I immediately stumble and fall. Do not permit Oh Lord, that at the final judgment you will ask me to give an account and find my hands empty.

    MARY TEACHES CHARITY

    September 16, 1962

There is a man in the village who is half crazy and does stupid things that could be very wrongly interpreted by the visitors who don't know his mental condition. He had been in an insane asylum for a year and now has decided to stay here. This is causing trouble and annoyance, and he will have to be sent away.

During the ecstasy on that day, Loli and Conchita went to the house where this disturbed man, Alfonso, was staying. And with a crucifix they made the sign of the cross on the pillow of his bed. And while passing by him, they gave him the crucifix to kiss several times. The disturbed man froze on his knees. That night Father commented: "What a lesson in charity the girls have given us." Everyone who had been talking about the necessity of throwing the insane man out of the village was touched — above all, the Cardinal's secretary, Father Guillermo Hausschildt, who had thought of refusing him Communion. He said: "It is clear the Virgin wanted to give us a lesson."

Conchita was asked why she had gone to the place where the deranged man was and had repeatedly given him the crucifix to kiss. She answered, "The Virgin told us:

'’You despise him, but I love him.'" A response like this put us down, making us see our great lack of charity.

2nd Day - First Talk - Summary of the Talk Regarding Meditations - April 20, 1967

In order to meditate well, it is necessary to keep your mind centered on the theme about which you are meditating because otherwise your imagination will wander to other things that have happened or you might want to do.

Oh Virgin Mary! Help me to be holy and carry the small crosses that you send me with joy and resignation, so that all that I do I will do for the love of your Holy Son and you.

Second Talk - "From Whom Do I Come?"
To think that I am here because of an act of God's love towards me. This alone is enough for me to be good. So many beings in your imagination to whom you have not given life.

Oh Lord! Thank you so much for having chosen me. Help me Lord, so that I can do everything well, and in that way you will be pleased in having selected me.

    Why Am I Here?
Oh Lord! I know you have created me to be a saint. Help me to attain this title and try day by day to be more so, that my life may be a continuous act of love towards you. Lord, when I do not feel You near me, don't permit me to be dejected as I am now. Help me, otherwise I cannot have peace and interior joy.

    Where Am I Going?
I know Lord that I have to go toward You. Help me so that this idea becomes engraved in my soul. I know this because it has been made know to me through the Holy Church.
