The Lieutenant Colonel that was a Priest
    [IMG]

Dr. Gonzalo de Federico, a military doctor, tells us about a conversation he had with the military chaplain, Lieutenant Colonel Fr. Isidoro, on the air base in Getafe, Spain, in the spring of 1970. Fr. Isidoro explained to Dr. Gonzalo how the girls in Garabandal discovered that he was a priest, despite the fact that he arrived when the ecstasy had already begun and that he was wearing his military uniform.

Spring 1970. After lunch while on guard in the Getafe Air Base. While I was drinking coffee with Pater (Note: this was how a military chaplain was called), Lieutenant Colonel Fr. Isidoro (I don’t remember his last name) asked me, “Do you believe in parapsychology?” I answered, “I do not have experience with it.” Then he said, Well, I am going to tell you what happened to me in Garabandal. I was very interested in the case and went to ascertain it personally, but I didn’t want to show that I was a priest, so I went in my uniform.

"I arrived when the girls were in ecstasy and were already speaking with the apparition, surrounded by a great crowd… One of them said, ‘I have to kiss the hands of all the priests? Right away…’ And she did. When she finished, she spoke with the apparition again and we heard her say, ‘There is one more? I didn’t recognize him dressed that way.’ She came towards me and kissed my hand.

“The only way to identify by the uniform which of the Armed Forces a person belonged to, especially while wearing a trench coat, was by the circular emblem on the cap was a different color for each branch: red for flight; blue for intendance; white for intervention; yellow for sanitary; cadmium red for juristic; black for aircraft engineers; and purple for ecclesiastic. How could a girl from a town in Cantabria know this if she had never seen a uniform in her life? I was amazed.”

He asked me, “What is your opinion?” I couldn’t give him my opinion then, nor can I give it now… I retell it the way I remember it.

Hello to everyone here. In case you did not see this today I thought I’d post and share. I’ll also give my opinion as well and will say so when it is an opinion or a possibility of happening as my opinion.

First the facts: we know that one of the pre Warning events is “shortly after an important Synod,” is when the Warning will happen. (Mother Nieves-Conchitas teacher and advisor when Conchita was young) We had a Synod in 2019. The human definition of “shortly” and Gods could be 2 different things as Gods thoughts and ways aren’t ours. My opinion is “shortly” would be a year or less. The last Synod (2019) is becoming further and further away. So why am
I posting all this? Because there was a scheduled Synod in Oct of 2022. That all changed as announced today in two links I will explain and link here.
First, the New Synod and “Synodal” process will now be from Oct of this year, continue in Oct of 2022 and now culminate in Oct-2023. It actually starts per the documents in the first link below at the Local Parish level.
So coupling the fact now of the culmination of this Synod in Oct of 2023, along with the known fact of the Warning being in an “even” year, sets up the possibility of a 2024 Warning (early 2024) and an April Miracle in the same year (2024). (My opinion because Jan-April of 2024 is “shortly after”the Oct 2023 completed important Synod.”)
Oh why is this Synod “important?” Part of it is going to be on who can receive the Eucharist. What’s more important than the Eucharist? At Garabandal Our Blessed Mother Said:”less and less importance is being placed on the Eucharist.”
So-is this Oct-2021-2023 Synod “THE SYNOD” that precedes the Warning-The Warning spoken of at Garabandal that is to happen “shortly after an important Synod?” Could be!!! Of course Only God and Our Blessed Mother Know!

    Here are the links-
first the timeline Synodal content and process.
Second-A Vatican News story on it.
    Thank you.

Thanks John for the post. After re-reading this I feel I should clarify that this is a "Synod", but in a different form, now a 3 year, 3 phase "Synodal Process".

There is no Synod this year at the Vatican, (as in the past) It’s a "Synodal Process" opened this Oct. by the Pope, starting at the local level. “A decentralized Synod" (NOT AT THE VATICAN as usual)
The Synod was conceived by Pope Paul VI as a way to continue the collegial experience of the Second Vatican Council. During the ceremonies commemorating the 50th anniversary of the institution of the Synod of Bishops, Pope Francis expressed his desire for a common path for “laity, pastors, the Bishop of Rome.” Now, for the first time, a "decentralized Synod". This will be very interesting for many factors. May this finally be the "Synod" that precedes the "Warning " ? Will it cause a Schism ?

    SCHISM
A passage from the book “ She went in haste to the Mountain” :BY EUSEBIO GARCIA DE PESQUERA, O.F.M., CAP.

Later Conchita wrote it down briefly on the back of a holy card of the Child Jesus, which Serafin (Conchita's Brother) keeps concealed and which none of the family has seen. And she told him that it would occur WHEN A DEFINITVE EVENT IN THE CHURCH TOOK PLACE, and she also explained it to him. Only in this way does Serafin know the date of the miracle.....

Later Serafin and I discussed the following excerpt from a leaflet written by Dr. Puncernau: “ During one of my trips to the pastures, I was alone with Serafin and we were eating in the barn. After eating, I tried to draw him out since it was said that he knew from Conchita when the Miracle would be.

I drew the conclusion that if he knew, he didn't want to say. The only thing that I got definitely from him was that it would be preceded by a SPECIAL HAPPENING IN THE CHURCH. After many questions and answers, it seemed clear to me from his vague remarks that it would be something LIKE A SCHISM. That is the way I understood it.”

And what do you say about Dr. Puncernau's opinion? I asked Serafin.
—” He is free to think what he wants. But I don't think I gave him reasons for such an opinion.”

But will this happening actually be a schism in the Church?
—” I HAVE NOTHING TO SAY.”

Please direct me to where you read that this synod will discuss who can receive the Eucharist. I'd not heard this and want to hear more.

This decentralized synod is very concerning.

It involves many topics per the 2 links I posted. It starts at the local
Level and all input is given on every thing. Changes “could “ be made and on a liberal level would effect Catholics (or perhaps even non Catholics) receiving Communion when things that were always known as sins and not worthy of Eucharistic reception without sacramental confession become worse than it already is. By being “okayed” as can receive. Thus the Warning will be coming and is needed directly from God To “change the conscience of the world.”
satans greatest victory (for now) is there is no sin and he doesn’t exist.
Here is another link article advising of all the input and topics to be put forth in phase 1 at the local level.
As Garabandalists we know God is sending the Warning. And it will be when things are “at its worst and appear as if the church has disappeared.”
Things will be getting a lot worse in every way. We aren’t at that point yet. Peace!

I just read the entire article, in addition to the first two links you provided, and I haven't seen anything about a possible discussion of who can or can't receive communion. I haven't seen any specifics on what will be discussed, other than the interviewer asking a vague question about the role of women in the Church. I saw the term "communion" discussed, but it wasn't about the Eucharist; it was used in the sense of "unity", like people being in communion with each other. Am I missing something?

Also, if anyone else wants to chime in, what is this all about? From the interview: "Many commentators rightly emphasise the theme of the Church as the People of God. However, for Pope Francis the sensus fidei best characterises this people that makes them infallible in credendo. This traditional aspect of doctrine throughout the history of the Church professes that “the entire body of the faithful… cannot err in matters of belief” by virtue of the light that comes from the Holy Spirit given in baptism." This is a traditional teaching of the Church? I only remember learning about the infallibility of the Pope when teaching matters of Faith and morals in communion with the bishops. How exactly is the whole body of Catholics going to be infallible when the vast majority of Catholics today disagree in matters of faith, choose only what they want to believe, don't believe in the true presence of Christ in the Eucharist, etc?

Yes. Confusion. Thus God is sending the Warning at its worst to “change the conscience of the world.” But yes you are correct there is no specific reference to who can or cannot receive communion from the information. I also saw the word “communion and participation at first read. There is a comma between the two words.
The fact remains however The confusion and “no sense of sin” is what’s causing Catholics to receive The Eucharist regardless of any sense of having sinned or sin on ones soul. Without going to confession. This input at every level could make things worse still in regard to confusion and “sense of sin.” Thus the Warning will be sent to “correct us all.”
    Peace!

Ok, so I read a very good summarization of what "Sensus Fidelium" truly means. This quote contains all that it DOES NOT mean, which I think is very helpful to know, and I truly hope is the understanding of all engaged in this new synodal process:

    "Views of laity aloneEdit
The Second Vatican Council made it clear that sensus fidelium (sense of the faithful) does not mean sensus laicorum (sense of the lay people), as if it were a charism granted to the laity in isolation from the Catholic Church hierarchy, and as if the clergy were not included among "the faithful".[5] It stated:

The entire body of the faithful, anointed as they are by the Holy One, cannot err in matters of belief. They manifest this special property by means of the whole people's supernatural discernment in matters of faith when "from the Bishops down to the last of the lay faithful" they show universal agreement in matters of faith and morals. That discernment in matters of faith is aroused and sustained by the Spirit of truth. It is exercised under the guidance of the sacred teaching authority, in faithful and respectful obedience to which the people of God accepts that which is not just the word of men but truly the word of God.[6]

It declared that Christ fulfils his prophetic office "not only through the hierarchy who teach in His name and with His authority, but also through the laity whom He made His witnesses and to whom He gave understanding of the faith [sensus fidei] and an attractiveness in speech so that the power of the Gospel might shine forth in their daily social and family life.[7]

    Independent of Church magisteriumEdit
In a speech to the International Theological Commission on 7 December 2012, Pope Benedict XVI distinguished between the authentic meaning of sensus fidei and a counterfeit understanding: "It is certainly not a kind of public ecclesial opinion, and invoking it in order to contest the teachings of the Magisterium would be unthinkable, since the sensus fidei cannot be authentically developed in believers, except to the extent in which they fully participate in the life of the Church, and this demands responsible adherence to the Magisterium, to the deposit of faith.[8]

This distinction was expressed also by the Second Vatican Council in the passage quoted above, in which it states that the discernment of the faithful in matters of faith and morals "is exercised under the guidance of the sacred teaching authority, in faithful and respectful obedience to which the people of God accepts that which is not just the word of men but truly the word of God".[6]

What may be a contrary view was expressed in an article by the editorial staff of the progressive United States periodical National Catholic Reporter: "Blessed John Henry Newman said that there are three magisteria in the church: the bishops, the theologians, and the people. On the issue of women's ordination, two of the three voices have been silenced, which is why the third voice must now make itself heard. ...Our message is that we believe the sensus fidelium is that the exclusion of women from the priesthood has no strong basis in Scripture or any other compelling rationale; therefore, women should be ordained. We have heard the faithful assent to this in countless conversations in parish halls, lecture halls, and family gatherings. It has been studied and prayed over individually and in groups."[9] A branch of the Cardinal Newman Society countered this view by quoting what the Pope coincidentally said only four days later, and by commenting: "One need not look very far in Catholic circles nowadays to find some mention of sensus fidelium which literally means 'sense of faith'. ... Recently, the term has been misused to argue for same-sex 'marriage', contraception and even women's ordination. It's a form of 'Magisterium by Gallup' in which a person argues that most Catholics agree with them on an issue, so even though the Magisterium says otherwise, they hold the trump card because of sensus fidei."[10] Cardinal Newman's actual view is that only the Ecclesia docens ("teaching Church", magisterium) discerns, discriminates, defines, promulgates, and enforces any portion of the tradition of the Apostles committed to the whole Church.[11]

Cardinal Charles Journet wrote that the sensus fidei is "neither a teaching nor a magisterium, but only the felt conviction of a truth." Believers can mix with their faith data or feelings foreign to it and they therefore need, he said, "to be helped, directed, judged by the divinely assisted magisterium." The magisterium for its part "has the task of discerning and confirming what is pre-felt, indicated, and anticipated by the sensus fidei."[12]

    Identified with prevailing opinionEdit
The Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith ruled out the "sociological argumentation which holds that the opinion of a large number of Christians would be a direct and adequate expression of the "supernatural sense of the faith" (sensus fidei). It commented: "The believer can still have erroneous opinions since all his thoughts do not spring from faith. Not all the ideas which circulate among the People of God are compatible with the faith. This is all the more so given that people can be swayed by a public opinion influenced by modern communications media. Not without reason did the Second Vatican Council emphasize the indissoluble bond between the sensus fidei and the guidance of God's People by the magisterium of the Pastors. These two realities cannot be separated."[13]

With regard to passing a judgement on the attitude reflected in the activities of the Inquisition, Pope John Paul II stated: "The theologians will be guided by a distinction in their critical reflection: the distinction between the authentic sensus fidei and the predominant mentality in a specific epoch that might have influenced their opinion. The sensus fidei must be asked to exercise the criteria of a level judgment of the life of the Church in the past."[14]

Theologian Cardinal Georges Cottier wrote: "Obviously, the sensus fidei is not to be identified with the consensus of the majority, it is not defined on the basis of the statistics of polls. In the history of the Church it has happened that in certain contexts the sensus fidei has been manifested by isolated individuals, single saints, while general opinion hung on to doctrines not conforming to the apostolic faith."[12]

Donal Dorr instead has commented critically on what he sees as the Church's failure to effectively listen to what he views as the sensus fidei, which he perhaps looks for in Third World countries, since he also speaks of actual Catholic social teaching as showing a western and ethnocentric leaning.[15]

    Continued:

    "Identified with prevailing opinionEdit

The Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith ruled out the "sociological argumentation which holds that the opinion of a large number of Christians would be a direct and adequate expression of the "supernatural sense of the faith" (sensus fidei). It commented: "The believer can still have erroneous opinions since all his thoughts do not spring from faith. Not all the ideas which circulate among the People of God are compatible with the faith. This is Addressing a group of theologians in December 2013, Pope Francis said: "By the gift of the Holy Spirit, the members of the Church possess a 'sense of faith'. This is a kind of 'spiritual instinct' that makes us sentire cum Ecclesia [think with the mind of the Church] and to discern that which is in conformity with the apostolic faith and is in the spirit of the Gospel. Of course, the sensus fidelium [sense of the faithful] cannot be confused with the sociological reality of a majority opinion. It is, therefore, important—and one of your tasks—to develop criteria that allow the authentic expressions of the sensus fidelium to be discerned. …This attention is of greatest importance for theologians. Pope Benedict XVI often pointed out that the theologian must remain attentive to the faith lived by the humble and the small, to whom it pleased the Father to reveal that which He had hidden from the learned and the wise.”[16]

    Concerned with Church governanceEdit
Confusing the sensus fidelium or sensus fidei with questions of governance departs from the teaching of the Council, which applies it instead to the teaching office of the Church.[17]

The Second Vatican Council, quoted above, spoke of the sensus fidei as concerning the showing of "universal agreement in matter of faith and morals," a "discernment in matters of faith ... exercised under the guidance of the sacred teaching authority, in faithful and respectful obedience to which the people of God accepts that which is not just the word of men but truly the word of God."[6]

I just realized we're in the Garabandal Info thread, so I apologize if this got too far off track.

I do think the potential for this synod to veer off into dangerous territory is pretty great, because I doubt hardly any laypeople understand the true meaning of the sensus fidelium. I wouldn't be surprised at all if this is the synod followed by the Warning. Regardless, we should hope against hope and pray for St. Joseph's protection and guidance, that the Holy Spirit prevents terrible damage and even brings about something good.

Yes my main point of my post was that The scheduled Oct 2022 Synod was changed to the 2021-2023 Synod/Synodal process that is an important one that could POSSIBLY BE (not will be) THE SYNOD Shortly preceding the Warning as Mother Nieves advised of. Peace.
