My dear friend's entire family came down with Covid over the holidays mostly with minor symptoms. Her husband, John, however, got the cough which went into his lungs and he went to the emergency room this past Saturday. His oxygen levels were in the 60s. Since then, they were able to bring his levels up to the 80s but then he suffered a heart attack and they found clots in his legs and damage to his heart. His oxygen levels have dropped again and he is in ICU on CPAP oxygen. If they can't bring his levels back up he will then be put on a ventilator. Please pray for his recovery. The family are good practicing Catholics and he is a good, self-sacrificing husband and father. My friend is wracked with guilt over not getting the vaccine and discouraging her family from getting it as well. I have told her that there are no guarantees that the vaccine would have helped or could have possibly even caused the same damage. I have been praying for him but wish there was some way I could be more supportive. I know there are strong prayer warriors here and I beg you all to please pray for his recovery. God bless you all!
I will certainly pray for this intention. I am sorry for this difficult situation and the whole issue is a quandary.
Cathy, I have a family member going through this too. On oxygen for two months, ventilator for two month’s, coded three times, collapsed lungs twice and is now off the ventilator and in rehab. Still very ill. Lost 100 pounds and on a feeding tube as of last week. He is suffering horribly. My sister, his wife said that even with everything he has gone through, she was shocked that he recently told her that he does not regret not getting the vaccine. He called it evil. I could hardly believe it myself after the way he has suffered. He too is a good practicing catholic. I pray he makes it. I pray your loved one makes it too! Sadly, we are now seeing stories of those who were vaccinated having serious, irreversible injuries from the vaccine. I think there will be more to come…I hope not because many of my beloved family members have had the vaccine. Ultimately, are lives are in Gods hands regardless of how or why we become ill. In the end, regardless of when we die, are we dying with our faith intact? …..that’s what matters most. God bless.
edited to correct a misstatement… He said that he still does NOT regret Not getting the vaccine. He said it is evil. Apologize for wrongly wording my initial comment. God bless.
Thank you, Beth and everyone. Despite his suffering your brother-in-law's story gives me hope for John. My poor friend, his wife, has been very vocal about the evils of the vaccine so she is feeling very burdened with responsibility and probably some cognitive dissonance. She is still recovering from Covid, herself, and is in an obvious state of panic. This is truly a test of faith for her and all of us. I am so so grateful for the prayers and comments of everyone here. It helps more than you know. I rarely post but am a daily lurker and silent prayer for all of your intentions as well.
Prayers of intercession to our dear friend Rick (theflyingnun) for John, May Rick implore our dear Lord for a miracle.
Cathy, today during my lunch break, I was walking around the pond in our city that is very popular and a woman came up to me to ask if there were anything she could join me in praying for. I mentioned some personal prayer intentions and remembered your request for John. We prayed together for him. I noticed later that this good woman approached various other people to ask the same. I felt glad that she was so brave to be able to go up to strangers and ask if they wanted to pray for their intentions with her. I could not do the same, as I have been conditioned to not speak about prayer/matters of God with people that I do not know. It was quite astonishing and all on the feast of the Epiphany.
Thank you so much for sharing this, Waiting, and for your prayers. What a lovely woman a good reminder to me to step outside of my own worries and think of others. This just brings tears to my eyes. Just to update, I spoke with my friend yesterday and John was doing a bit better and they were able to bring down the oxygen flow rate a little from 100 to 90%. He is definitely not out of the woods yet but has moved in the right direction. I believe it's a result of all of your prayers. Thank you all again, so much! And please continue to pray for John as I will for all of you!
