“‘It is true, My daughter, that many souls begin, but few persevere to the very end, and those who persevere do it to receive the graces promised. The souls who make the Five First Saturdays with fervor and to make Reparation to the Heart of your Heavenly Mother, please Me more than those who make fifteen, but are lukewarm and indifferent.’ “‘My Jesus! Many souls find it difficult to confess on Saturday. Will You allow a confession within eight days to be valid?’ “‘Yes. It can even be made later on, provided that the souls are in the state of grace when they receive Me on the first Saturday, and that they have the intention of making Reparation to the Immaculate Heart of Mary.’ “‘My Jesus! And those who forget to form this intention?’ “‘They can form it at the next confession, taking advantage of their first opportunity to go to confession.’ “Right after that He disappeared, without me finding out anything more about Heaven’s desires, up to the present.” http://www.fatimacrusader.com/truestory/pdf/app1.pdf
Within eight days before or after First Saturday - reason being, there are not enough Churches with confessions on Saturdays (we don't even have Mass on any Saturday - I drive to another Parish - very sad!).
First Off, thank you all for your swift responses. Forgive me if this is a stupid question, but in the article quoted above when it says "form this intention", are we supposed to tell the confessor what we are doing? It mentions "forming an intention" at the next confession. I just want to make sure I've got it down correctly.
I usually begin my c0nfession with this explanation. It reminds the priest of this devotion too and then maybe he will remember to remind others.
I usually make my intention silently before I go into the confessional. I have taught my children to add it verbally though. Bless me Father for I have sinned ,it has been X since my last confession, And I offer this confession in reparation to the Immaculate Heart of Mary for my first Saturday. And the same little offering before communion, rosary ,and meditation.
Thank you again everybody, I think I will use this verbal prayer you mentioned as well. "Bless me Father for I have sinned, it has been X since my last confession, And I offer this confession in reparation to the Immaculate Heart of Mary for my first Saturday." This will be my first attempt at doing the first Saturdays and I would like to do them right. I don't know how much longer we may be privileged to be able to do them.
Bumping up this thread as a reminder that tomorrow is the First Friday of the month, followed by the First Saturday.
This is an issue where I live also. Confession is offered on the first and third Thurdays each month. Mass is offered Saturday evenings with Rosary a half an hour before by the Rosary Altar Society. But there is no confession on Saturdays at all that I can find locally. This First Saturday devotion doesn't seem to be a priorty or concern. It would be nice if at least one church locally offered it.
Ok. Help please. I've never heard if this! Can someone just tell me what to do. I went to mass today. Check. I will say my rosary. I will go to confession tomorrow. What else. Please forgive my ignorance!
In addition to Mass and Communion and Rosary we are asked to meditate for another 15 minutes with Mary on one or all of the mysteries of the rosary. All of it has to be done with the intention of atoning for the 5 offenses to Our Lady: 1. Against her Immaculate Conception, 2. Her Perpetual Virginity, 3. Her Divine Maternity, (Those who deny she is the Mother of God), 4.Her Images and statues and finally for 5. failing to install in children a love of her Immaculate Heart. Sister Lucia was told that heaven would accept a confession within a week of the Saturday but as soon as possible. I have driven all over the place to do mine today only to find out I didn't have to. Festinare Lente. At the start of my confession I briefly explain it is part of the 5 Saturday Devotion requested by Our Lady of Fatima. This explanation is not a requirement.
Thank God, I was able to complete the 5th First Saturday and First Friday this Month. Especially with the Synod coming up. With the help of God I will continue to finish and make 9 First Saturdays along with the 9 First Fridays in honour of Sacred Heart of Merciful Jesus. We are only required to complete 5 First Saturdays to repair for offenses against the Immaculate Heart of Mary; but I want to carry on if possible especially in these turbulent times. God bless those new Apostles joining the ranks of Blessed Mothers little army here in exile. The Rosary, the scapula and the 5 First Saturdays makes us armed and dangerous to the enemy of Christ. Keep up the good work.
I always believed a penitent can ask a Priest to hear their confession at any time. And I understand he should oblige. I have asked the Priest more than once if he would hear my confession. I would explain to him that I am making a First Friday or First Saturday, and I have never been refused yet. That is of course when I have not been able to get to available confession. Because I think Blessed Mother and Jesus are worth the risk of being told off. LOL
After confession last night, I finished the 5 first saturdays. I was inspired to do so because some apparition said that we would only have until this month to do it before masses are not available. True or false, it inspired me to do it. Praise God for letting me see this through.
On a lighter note, I was just wondering what we are going to do when we get to the Pearly Gates and find a sign saying 'NO LAPTOPS, PC'S OR IPDS' BEYOND THIS PONT.'
Does anyone know if the first Saturday Masses that we attend have to be morning Masses as the 4PM or later is the Mass for Sunday?
