I heard that interview. Are you expecting the "experts" to recommend banning Mass? Their excuse for continuing with the stupid parade is that it's outdoors and the sun (in Ireland!!) makes outdoor gatherings safer. I imagine that if they close churches they will also have to close pubs, clubs and put passenger limits on buses and trains. I don't think that the Italians shut bars and restaurants or limited the numbers on buses after the churches were closed. Even now, restaurants are open with some silly rule about customers being seated a metre apart.
Went to Mass this morning . . .southern Alabama. There are reports of the virus two counties over. Still had Holy Water, Still had Wine in Chalice, church was full. No mention of suspending anything. This morning our county issued a statement that we could download an Ap on our phones to track the virus if we want, and in the comments everyone was laughing at it. We figure mainstream media has nothing else to scare people about, so now it's the pandemic since impeachment is over. So, life carries on. The common cold is a virus, too.

Interesting observation: I’m on the New York Rt 87 Turnpike having visited a friend south of Albany this weekend, and I just stopped at a rest stop. Unlike in the past, very few people are touching door handles, knobs, etc. People are using elbows or clothes or handicapped buttons to open doors etc and they’re washing their hands and using the hand sanitizers just outside restrooms. I.e., behaviors are already changing. I always carry this stuff whenever I travel, but I’m even more thankful for it today:

Yes. It’s exploding out of control in Italy. 10% of those infected are in intensive care. The death rate is 5% in Italy meaning 5% of those infected have died. This is not just the flu. This is serious. There were doctors and US govt officials on Meet the Press this morning. The one guy was an M.D. who was head of the FDA from 2017-2019. He said we are going to see here in the US over the next 2 weeks what Italy has experienced over the past 2 weeks and we need to start closing businesses, theaters, restrict travel.
