TWO strains of the killer coronavirus are spreading around the world – and 70% of infected patients have caught the more aggressive and contagious type, study claims https://www.dailymail.co.uk/health/...iller-coronavirus-spreading-study-claims.html Article goes on to claim that since the more aggressive form was isolated faster, it is dying out faster
It good to look on the good side too. A for instance, no more stupid endless talk on the Media about transgender LGBQ and Feminist issues and such like endless pointless drivel on the Media. People turning to deeper things like the meaning and purpose of life. All the vapid nonsense our post God civilisation lends it to going out the window. I include inside the Church. A for instance we need not worry about Global Warming anymore. No one is doing anything let alone flying. There is nothing so good as death to concentrate the mind on what really matters. No more on plane press conferences from the Holy Father; what a blessing!! (By the way I hear those with HIV are very vulnerable to this virus, its more nor less a death sentence if they catch it...just saying)
https://www.rte.ie/news/world/2020/0306/1120536-coronavirus-world/ The Vatican has reported its first coronavirus case, saying it had suspended outpatient services at its health clinic after a patient tested positive for Covid-19. The clinic inside the city state - which has around 1,000 residents - will be deep cleaned, while the emergency room will remain open, spokesman Matteo Bruni said. The patient tested positive yesterday. The clinic is used by priests, residents and employees - including those now retired - as well as their relatives. Mr Bruni said the Vatican was getting in touch with all those who had passed through the clinic, as per protocol. He gave no details on whether the person who tested positive was such an employee or among the relatively few clergy or guards who live inside its walls. The Vatican has said Pope Francis, who cancelled a Lent retreat for the first time in his papacy, is suffering only from a cold that is "without symptoms related to other pathologies." China's central province of Hubei, excluding the provincial capital Wuhan, has reported zero new cases of coronavirus over 24 hours for the first time during the outbreak, as authorities continued to contain imported infections in other parts of the country.
I think Ireland will be in big trouble with this virus, in terms of spread. It's such a small island and people are very slow to stop carrying on as normal and take precautions. The outbreak in the West is a family of 4,the father is a family doctor. They returned from northern Italy and he was sick with symptoms but continued to work and see patients. That is the Irish mentality. I think we are gonna be in trouble.
Yes it's true. What chance have we when a doctor can be that stupid? I'm now hearing on social media that he did a 12 hour shift in the Regional Hospital Limerick and that the staff who worked the same shift have been told to self isolate. Nothing on the news about this. I'm hearing there's a case in Arklow - again nothing on the news. Instead, as someone said, once a day on the 6 news we get the 3 wise men sitting behind tables telling us little to nothing and off with you now and wash your hands sure it'll be grand. Italy now has more cases than Wuhan but we are allowing plane loads of fans over from Italy this weekend for a match that has been cancelled. I was out driving there and the radio was just politicians arguing over who should form the next government. It was almost funny. HELLO the country should be on a war footing we have an unseen enemy show a bit of leadership
Trump was scheduled to fly into Atlanta this afternoon and give a press conference at the CDC to calm everyone down and show they have things under control. They just cancelled the trip last minute. That is concerning as it probably means things are quickly evolving and they need to develop a plan. here’s speculation that they’re going to have to restrict travel, close schools etc here or it would lead to these results: https://www.naturalnews.com/2020-03...on-deaths-domestic-travel-air-rail-roads.html
It is quickly becoming a reality. Our governor just ordered anyone returning from the hotspot countries must go into quarantine for 14 days. Also no international travel for any students. We had another positive case of corona, a student who had been to Italy, and attended a high school about 25 miles from me. They had to close down the school to disinfect everything.
Our world is quickly turning to the ridiculous. Now I have to worry about traveling to and fro every single day. And there is too much information. You literally do not know what to believe. Should I worry about this virus? Should I not worry about this virus? Is there too much panic? Is there not enough concern about the virus? I mean, it makes your head spin. I honestly do not know what to do. What is correct thinking because we cannot trust the media AT ALL, they lie about everything, all the time. The doctors are concerned but some doctors are not and continue to travel and treat patients. The regular flu is worse. The covid-19 virus is worse. Ugh. It is early March. My family has a trip planned this Saturday to California to clean up some loose ends with my father's recent death. We are traveling by car from Arizona to Cali. We are staying first ay my brothers in the Inland Empire. He has not traveled anywhere but him and his wife have lived regular life and work. It is probably safe here. Then we travel to Los Angeles to stay at my father's house where my sister is currently living. She has just traveled to Los Osos by train and back, so 2 train trips. Los Angeles is a huge city. To my knowledge there are no travel restrictions on travel there. I could be wrong. Maybe Chinese flights are curtailed but no restrictions from Italy. She has planned to take us to a museum while we are there. Museum is in downtown L.A. So, how do I make a reasonable decision? How does anyone make a reasonable decision with this ridiculous thing that is happening. Are we safe? Are we not safe? It is ridiculous. This virus, if we do need to worry about it, is going to get out of control FAST. ANd we will all sit here stopped in our tracks because we don't know who to believe
I’m curtailing travel and trying to avoid crowds. But you have a different situation and a larger concern with family.
Maybe it just has to go through all of us. Yes, it sounds strange. Maybe we have to build a immune system against it because it will never go away. The mandatory shut downs are probably to slow down spread so hospitals aren’t overwhelmed. interesting part to all of this...you would think people would go back to God. God is not even in the conversation.
I go to a prayer group each week; Last weeks word from God: "... it will be a terrible time for the entire world..."
I feel your pain, there is a lot of conflicting information. But we need to get used to it, as chaos rises the whirlwind and confusion will rise. My best advice is to pray and just go slow and make each decision one at a time guided in prayer. Things are most likely going to get a lot worse, this virus is not "it", lots more to come I'm afraid that will make our head spin. And to highlight the conflicting reports and rising chaos, now an hour later they are saying Trump's trip is back on, worry was someone here at the CDC had the virus but now has tested negative, or at least that's the story they are putting out. The employees at the CDC are very liberal and word is that there is conflict between the reports they want to put out and what Trump's admin is allowing them to put out: https://www.ajc.com/blog/politics/t...-coronavirus-strategy/jx1AUjHUTMNKEEjHuwysZO/
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Valid writing from legitimate authority, posted for those who can appreciate it. James Robb M.D. is the real deal, what is posted below is from an email meant for his friends, family, etc , but someone posted it publicly. I validated that this is real! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Preparing for the Corona Virus This was forwarded from an epidemiologist friend from her Stanford research colleagues. It’s much more specific and useful than the other information out there. Note the masks just prevent you from touching your nose and mouth. Of course, any of these recommendations could change with more experience with this specific virus. Below is a detailed description of the coronavirus. James Robb, MD UC San Diego, is a virologist who’s worked with this virus for almost 50 years. COVID-19 has an affinity for pulmonary receptors that is extraordinary. Robb predicts the next 2 weeks will be significant. Newest info at end of his e-mail to his U of California staff & colleagues. Feel free to copy and send to family & friends. Subject: What I am doing for the upcoming COVID-19 (coronavirus) pandemic Dear Colleagues, as some of you may recall, when I was a professor of pathology at the University of California San Diego, I was one of the first molecular virologists in the world to work on coronaviruses (the 1970s). I was the first to demonstrate the number of genes the virus contained. Since then, I have kept up with the coronavirus field and its multiple clinical transfers into the human population (e.g., SARS, MERS), from different animal sources. The current projections for its expansion in the US are only probable, due to continued insufficient worldwide data, but it is most likely to be widespread in the US by mid to late March and April. Here is what I have done and the precautions that I take and will take. These are the same precautions I currently use during our influenza seasons, except for the mask and gloves.: 1) NO HANDSHAKING! Use a fist bump, slight bow, elbow bump, etc. 2) Use ONLY your knuckle to touch light switches. elevator buttons, etc.. Lift the gasoline dispenser with a paper towel or use a disposable glove. 3) Open doors with your closed fist or hip - do not grasp the handle with your hand, unless there is no other way to open the door. Especially important on bathroom and post office/commercial doors. 4) Use disinfectant wipes at the stores when they are available, including wiping the handle and child seat in grocery carts. 5) Wash your hands with soap for 10-20 seconds and/or use a greater than 60% alcohol-based hand sanitizer whenever you return home from ANY activity that involves locations where other people have been. 6) Keep a bottle of sanitizer available at each of your home's entrances. AND in your car for use after getting gas or touching other contaminated objects when you can't immediately wash your hands. 7) If possible, cough or sneeze into a disposable tissue and discard. Use your elbow only if you have to. The clothing on your elbow will contain infectious virus that can be passed on for up to a week or more! What I have stocked in preparation for the pandemic spread to the US: 1) Latex or nitrile latex disposable gloves for use when going shopping, using the gasoline pump, and all other outside activity when you come in contact with contaminated areas. Note: This virus is spread in large droplets by coughing and sneezing. This means that the air will not infect you! BUT all the surfaces where these droplets land are infectious for about a week on average - everything that is associated with infected people will be contaminated and potentially infectious. The virus is on surfaces and you will not be infected unless your unprotected face is directly coughed or sneezed upon. This virus only has cell receptors for lung cells (it only infects your lungs) The only way for the virus to infect you is through your nose or mouth via your hands or an infected cough or sneeze onto or into your nose or mouth. 2) Stock up now with disposable surgical masks and use them to prevent you from touching your nose and/or mouth (We touch our nose/mouth 90X/day without knowing it!). This is the only way this virus can infect you - it is lung-specific. The mask will not prevent the virus in a direct sneeze from getting into your nose or mouth - it is only to keep you from touching your nose or mouth. 3) Stock up now with hand sanitizers and latex/nitrile gloves (get the appropriate sizes for your family). The hand sanitizers must be alcohol-based and greater than 60% alcohol to be effective. 4) Stock up now with zinc lozenges. These lozenges have been proven to be effective in blocking coronavirus (and most other viruses) from multiplying in your throat and nasopharynx. Use as directed several times each day when you begin to feel ANY "cold-like" symptoms beginning. It is best to lie down and let the lozenge dissolve in the back of your throat and nasopharynx. Cold-Eeze lozenges is one brand available, but there are other brands available. I, as many others do, hope that this pandemic will be reasonably contained, BUT I personally do not think it will be. Humans have never seen this snake-associated virus before and have no internal defense against it. Tremendous worldwide efforts are being made to understand the molecular and clinical virology of this virus. Unbelievable molecular knowledge about the genomics, structure, and virulence of this virus has already been achieved. BUT, there will be NO drugs or vaccines available this year to protect us or limit the infection within us. Only symptomatic support is available. I hope these personal thoughts will be helpful during this potentially catastrophic pandemic. You are welcome to share this email. Good luck to all of us! Jim James Robb, MD
https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases...ld/expert-answers/zinc-for-colds/faq-20057769 Zinc for colds: The final word? Will taking zinc for colds make my colds go away faster? Answer From Brent A. Bauer, M.D. There's been a lot of talk about taking zinc for colds ever since a 1984 study showed that zinc supplements kept people from getting as sick. Since then, research has turned up mixed results about zinc and colds. Recently an analysis of several studies showed that zinc lozenges or syrup reduced the length of a cold by one day, especially when taken within 24 hours of the first signs and symptoms of a cold. Most colds are caused by a type of virus called rhinovirus, which thrives and multiplies in the nasal passages and throat (upper respiratory system). Zinc may work by preventing the rhinovirus from multiplying. It may also stop the rhinovirus from lodging in the mucous membranes of the throat and nose. Zinc may be more effective when taken in lozenge or syrup form, which allows the substance to stay in the throat and come in contact with the rhinovirus. But the recent analysis stopped short of recommending zinc. None of the studies analyzed had enough participants to meet a high standard of proof. Also, the studies used different zinc dosages and preparations (lozenges or syrup) for different lengths of time. As a result, it's not clear what the effective dose and treatment schedule would be. Zinc — especially in lozenge form — also has side effects, including nausea or a bad taste in the mouth. Many people who used zinc nasal sprays suffered a permanent loss of smell. For this reason, Mayo Clinic doctors caution against using such sprays. In addition, large amounts of zinc are toxic and can cause copper deficiency, anemia and damage to the nervous system. For now, the safest course is to talk to your doctor before considering the use of zinc to prevent or reduce the length of colds.
Oh dear. You are all in my prayers. Maryrose started a Rosary novena yesterday for everyone's safety. I joined her intentions by starting a Rosary novena as well last night. It is something to consider. We went to New Hampshire yesterday to meet friends who live where the newest covid 19 patients have been found. I was very uneasy but my husband was all get up and go. This morning he is sick with a resp infection!!!! It's too soon to be THE virus but it sure stopped him in his tracks. I am praying not to get it. This is quite a Lent we are all having. Blessed be God!
Thank you AED, prayers for your husband and your health. As we all move forward, may we keep the calmness of our mother Mary. She was the perfect example of taking each day at a time as she knew and knows the end of the story.
