You are so right Dolours, the bills never disappear. It would quickly lead to financial ruin for so many who couldn't go to work.
I think the arrangement is that his classmates will self-isolate and the medics will keep in touch with them to monitor whether they have any symptons. I'm not sure but I think the monitoring will be by telephone. So, if you had been to a contaminated area and had only mild or no symptoms would you inform anyone in authority if it meant the debts piling up? Hard to blame someone for keeping their mouth shut in that kind of situation.
What to believe?........ IRAN ROUNDUP Feb. 21 to March 1: IRAN PLAGUED BY CORONAVIRUS – Deaths Mounting, People Revolt Against the Khomeinist Regime’s Incompetent & Callous Handling of the Outbreak By Editors of The Free Iran Herald Updates on events unfolding in Iran Iranians Hold Chinese Neocolonialists Responsible for the Epidemic As most of the world has heard by now, Iran is currently wracked by the coronavirus (COVID-19) epidemic, being the country most afflicted by it, second to China. Iranians have been largely cut off from global travel, as other countries fear Iranian visitors may be possible virus carriers. The virus has become so widespread that even high-ranking Khomeinist regime hierarchs are becoming ill, and in some cases, dying. Yet, the regime continues to do little to control the epidemic, or assist those who have been stricken by it. The barefaced unconcern shown by the ruling Shi’a clerics has caused some Iranians to rise up against them. The Tehran regime continues to conceal the scale of the coronavirus epidemic in the statements provided to the international community. As of Wednesday, February 26th, a confidential source inside the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) informed the Persian-language news website AVA Today that 488 Iranians had died from the coronavirus so far – many more than the 34 the regime has said officially. The same site reported another 42 people dying on Friday. However, some reports say the death toll may be far higher than that – with one unconfirmed source saying that 5,000 people have died from the virus. According to a team of Canadian doctors, using mathematical models to estimate the extent of the virus’s spread, 18,000 Iranians – at least – are infected. In videos posted to social media, Iranians are seen collapsing in the streets as they begin to come down with the infection. Many Khomeinist officals were reported to have become ill from the coronavirus, with one, Hadi Khosrowshahi, a cleric, Islamic fundamentalist ideologist, and a former ambassador, dying. Other officials reported or rumored to have been infected include: Massoumeh Ebtekar: Currently one of the regime’s Vice-Presidents, born Niloufar Ebtekar before changing her name, she abandoned her cosmopolitan, secular, upper-class upbringing to become a Khomeinist fanatic. Famous to Americans as “Tehran Mary,” Ebtekar was the spokesperson for the terrorist group that kidnapped the American embassy staff in November 1979, and she personally tortured some of the diplomats. Despite her ostensible hatred for the USA, her son Eissa Hashemi lives in Los Angeles, CA, and was secretly given a US Green Card by former President Obama. Mohammad Bagher Qalibaf: Former mayor of Tehran, and one of the most brutal and corrupt of the regime’s leaders. Among Iranians, Ghalibaf is known for having a private army, and prison, which he uses to abduct, torture, and kill his political enemies. Many Iranian intellectuals who criticized the regime were later assassinated at Ghalibaf’s order. Before falling ill and being taken to hospital, he was on track to become the Speaker of the Islamic Parliament (Majles). Mostafa Pourmohammadi: Former justice minister, and one of the five clerics in charge of implementing the 1988 massacre of political prisoners, which killed over 33,000. Multiple members of the Islamic Parliament are also reported to have become ill, and additionally, so has a relative-by-marriage of Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, Farideddin Haddad Adel. The virus is also said to be spreading rapidly amongst Iranian Air Force pilots, and among the staff of the regime’s Foreign Ministry. However, some Iranians are skeptical of these news announcements. They believe that these officials might be lying about being ill in order to then stage a “miraculous recovery” and then build up their reputations among their religious followers as leaders “chosen by God.” Be that as it may, the regime’s response to the outbreak has been woefully deficient. Tehran has refused to quarantine areas where the virus is widespread, and it continues to encourage people to visit Shi’a holy shrines – at a time when mass gatherings would enable a further spreading of the disease. Some clerics are promoting nonsense superstitions, and claiming that licking the poles of the shrines will cure the coronavirus! Meanwhile, face masks and hand sanitizers and even soap remain impossible to obtain in Iran. Corruption is one of the main causes, as officials, notably from the IRGC are said to be hoarding items meant for distribution to the people and selling them at a massive profit on the black market. In another case, the IRGC was seen to be mislabeling cans of air freshener as anti-bacterial spray, and then selling them. Tehran also rejected an offer of aid and assistance from US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo. MORE: https://www.thegatewaypundit.com/20...incompetent-callous-handling-of-the-outbreak/
Weill basically they are saying; Paper tissues will help you. Washing your hands will help you. Self isolating will help you. But going to mass, blessing yourself with Holy Water , taking communion on the tongue and going to Church in general will do you grave harm. This although there is no cure for this plague nor immunisation. Who would give advise like this? The world. and the devil. Either the supernatural exists or it does not. Where is Faith in all this worldly wise advise? Those who strive with selfish purpose to save their lives will loose them. Those who give their lives for others will gain them for Eternity. We should be filling our Churches with urgent prayers for God's intercession not locking them up and walking away. When the going gets tough, the tough get going.
There is no way in the world young teens will self isolate at home for two weeks. It would be like trying to hold water in your hands. It ain't gonna happen. You'd be very, very lucky to keep them at home for 24 hours.
With social media and computer games, I'd give them more than 24 hours. Maybe a few days. I'm not sure the neighbours would be happy to see the kids out and about. The school is about four or five miles from the city centre, and further than that away from me so I won't need to hibernate yet.
Apparently this has been discussed here on this forum previously.... http://motheofgod.com/threads/luz-de-maria-message.5650/page-32 The post shows the video you mention
https://www.carrickfergustimes.co.u...sign-of-peace-in-coronavirus-update-1-9249489 Parishes are asked to: “Suspend the Sign of Peace (a handshake during the service); “During mass only the celebrant should receive from the chalice; Holy Communion should be administered into the hands only and not onto the tongue; “Holy water fonts should be drained and not used;
Interesting thing happened at mass. No one had the precious blood of Christ. Also, when I went with tongue, the priest looked worried. no one shook hands either! interesting time!
So very,very sad. https://www.nytimes.com/2020/03/01/world/europe/virus-italy-churches.html Fear of Coronavirus Leaves the Faithful Without Mass in Italy’s North Concerns over safety and the fear of spreading the virus have upended many rituals of life in the region, including Sunday Mass. MILAN — The camera focused on a woman reading a prayer for people infected with the coronavirus, and for the doctors and nurses helping Italy deal with the largest outbreak in Europe. “Lord, hear our prayer,” Julia Kranzelmayer, her husband and three children responded Sunday from the couch of their Milan living room as they followed the Mass on television. “It’s strange to watch it on TV,” she said. In an effort to prevent the spread of the coronavirus, regional officials canceled the public celebration of Mass throughout much of northern Italy, and upended sacred rituals of Italian life. Soccer players have held matches in empty stadiums. Milan’s vibrant aperitivo scene has slowed to a halt, and empty trams smell of disinfectant. Ms. Kranzelmayer’s employer, like many in Lombardy, has ordered its staff to work from home, and her children cannot return to school for at least another week. The coronavirus has infected more than 1,500 people in Italy, with nearly 1,000 of the cases in the Lombardy region in the north, which includes Milan. At least 34 people, almost all elderly or with underlying conditions, have died. Tens of thousands of people in 11 towns are under quarantine in “red zones,” with their loved ones outside forced to drop off cigarettes and care packages for them with authorities, who then deliver the goods. Amid all that disruption — the uptick in cases and enormous economic damage, including from the application of the United States’ most severe travel warning to Lombardy and Veneto — the loss of church gatherings has shaken a fundamental pillar for the faithful. You have 4 free articles remaining. Subscribe to The Times Pope Francis has sought in Rome to be close to the sick, even as he shows cold symptoms himself, and church leaders in the north are unhappy about being forced apart from their flocks. “The difference between participating in the Mass in the church and watching it on TV is like the difference between sitting next to a bonfire that warms up, illuminates, brings joy, and watching a picture of the fire,” Milan’s archbishop, Mario Delpini, said on Sunday as he celebrated a regionally broadcast Mass without congregants inside the crypt of Milan’s empty cathedral. He acknowledged that assembling could be “not without danger,” but said, “It is painful to celebrate without the people.” Critics of the closings have argued that the salve of faith, and the clergy’s concrete help, has aided Italians through past epidemics. The Lombardy region’s patron saint, Charles Borromeo, is revered in part for his noble actions during a 1576-1578 plague, they point out.
The official figures lag well behind because one person can infect many others but symptoms may not show for a fortnight. So the spread cannot easily be traced. Things are much worse than the figures we are being given especially in Italy and Iran.
You'd be surprised with what teens are like these days. I have a 16 year old. Give them a phone and some Netflix and they won't budge. It's quite sad actually. I'd rather see them out and about. (Under normal circumstances, obviously. Not if they have the virus.)
Some good has come of this, with the suspending of the Sign of Peace. Relief for a while. It is Canutian to attempt to resist the spread of a virus of this nature. The authorities might be just as well advised to let it off and allow a broad natural immunity develop. Prolonging the agony might actually worsen the consequences. However, as hysteria is now the default response to every 'crisis', things were never going to be different. We must also bear in mind that this sequence of events is selling more newspapers and generating more on-line 'clicks' the longer it goes on. It is therefore in the interest of the media to hype up and prolong this as much as possible. There is a blogger over on the 'Orthosphere' called Kristor, who is both a very astute financial advisor and a devout Catholic in real life from whom I obtained the information in the previous paragraph. He puts a lot of trust in the market, as it reflects the considered opinion of very many millions of people worldwide. They are also putting their money where their mouth is. He considers that the present drop in the market (in the order of around 20%) is not reflective of the scale of catastrophe suggested by the media and is little different from very many other adjustments throughout his long career. I think his point is right that the market is a more honest institution than the media. Please God that is so.
Thanks. I knew that there had been previous discussions about the messages but didn't remember that thread. It's very hard to find any reliable source because the internet is awash with people quoting her messages, clogging up search results. It seems to have turned into a cult. If someone on the forum mentioned that they saw a crow perched on a fence anywhere in the world, it's almost guaranteed to generate a Luz de Maria quote and my eyes glaze over when I see the "Jesus" or "Mary" or "God the Father" to Luz de Maria opening to some rambling so-called message from Heaven.. When something is pushed at me relentlessly the way those messages are inserted into so many threads on the forum, I'm inclined to turn away from it. And the fact remains that the supposed apparitions have not been declared by the Church to be worthy of belief, otherwise anyone claiming that they have would be able to point us to the official statement from her local Bishop. That's my own attitude to it. What others choose to believe about self-proclaimed seers is their business. I may well lean too heavily on the side of caution but I prefer that to being in the camp of people who have yet to read or hear about a "seer" they didn't believe in.
I don't want to be a Cassandra or Jeremiah but I think things are very much worse than either the media or market suspect for many reasons. I hope I am wrong in this. My own reading woulf be that it is on the same level as the Spanish Flu of 1918 which kiiled upwards of 150 million people, probably quite a lot worse. But I wouldn't argue, people will have their eyes very much opened as things roll onwards. By the way the British Health Secretary was interviewed by Andrew marr on the BBC on Sunday Morning. He put it to the Minister that Britain could expect upwards of 500,ooo deaths. The Health Secretary did not disagree. These are around the Ball Park statistics I would expect myself. You can watch it on utube just type in , 'Andrew Marr 2020' and go to yesterdays show.
There are reports that a reliable treatment will be available within months. If true, it should make a big difference to the death rate. Thank God, sub Saharan Africa is largely virus-free. Pray that it remains so at least until the treatment is ready for general release. What this virus has brought to light is the world's reliance on a country like China. A situation brought about by greed on the part of the uber rich and their political puppets. It's very worrying that the developed world relies on China for supplies of all sorts of necessities to see us through emergency situations like this. May virus scare cause the powers that be to reflect long and hard about the shortages especially shortages of essentials for a medical emergency. How can the production of steel be more worthy of protection than the production of antibiotics?
