Rumors were abounding last night that Shenzhen was going into lockdown. This would be huge as it's a city of 12.5 million people and it's their technology hub, the equivalent of our Silicon Valley. It's the #1 major location of all technology that China exports, for example the FoxConn plant that manufactures iPhones is there. If they lockdown Shenzhen, it'll tank markets worldwide and really cripple a Chinese economy that is already in trouble due to the tariffs we slapped on them. The Chinese govt. will do whatever they can to keep it open, if they lock it down that's all you need to know about the severity of this outbreak. I have several suppliers in Shenzhen and yesterday one told me a big shipment they were supposed to send to me earlier this week was delayed due to flights being restricted out and they planned to send it to Hong Kong (which borders Shenzhen) and get it out to me on Monday. Well, the rumors were just heightened as the Shenzhen health authority just announced this and I just saw video of thousands in lines at the border with Hong Kong trying to get out before it's shut down at midnight: #Shenzhen health commission posts on social media that starting from Feb 8, 00:00, vehicles entering Shenzhen need to register online beforehand. Shenzhen to set up checks on all highways connected to city. Coronavirus and face masks A friend works at Home Depot in Johnstown PA. Yesterday an Asian man came in and purchased several cases of painters masks. My friend hadn’t previously thought about this. Just out of curiosity he checked on stocks of masks in his store. There were NONE of any type/style. Coworkers said Chinese people are coming into their store early the day they get restocked and literally buying all of their masks on the spot, two or three thousand dollars worth at a time. And there’s only a very small population of Chinese living in the Johnstown region. If you plan on eventually buying masks for this coronavirus pandemic, start now, not later.
My own inclination is to believe the deaths are being massively under reported. Chinese folks would have heard this through the grape vine.
I had heard vague rumors that this virus targets Chinese but thought it was nonsense. This video quotes a non peer reviewed Asian study saying this coronavirus targets a receptor in lung tissue that is much more prevalent in Chinese males than blacks or Caucasians. That might explain why it’s seemingly going parabolic in China but not outside China. The Chinese communists IMO will eventually use that to claim this was a bioweapon attack on China by the USA (to cover up their own incompetence) and could cause a war.
I have read many conflicting reports about these masks from various professionals, some say the only effective masks are medical grade, and used in hospitals. These particular masks come in different sizes and are tightly fitted to the face. What do you think Brian, would the non medical masks offer any protection.

I’m honestly not planning on buying masks. Other than stopping transmission to others by catching droplets from coughing and sneezing, they don’t really do much to prevent getting infected. They might lower spread to others if you are infected. They don’t stop breath from escaping unfiltered around the cheeks and under the chin. Eyes are also mucus membranes and a virus can infect via the eyes as well as the nose and mouth. In the end, using masks is more of a psychological benefit than anything. It reminds you not to touch your face.
