Pope Francis is making it easier for women and doctors to seek forgiveness for abortion, by allowing all priests to forgive it. However, he has not changed Church policy on contraception. Speaking earlier this year, Pope Francis said that although contraception remains forbidden, there was no need for people to breed "like rabbits" to be good Catholics. Is the above two quotes in the news today totally true or did the media do their usual change tactics with Pope Francis's word's ???
I cannot remember the exact details but I think when in the Philipines he was asked about a mother who had many children already and had some medical complication which meant that more children could harm her health. In that event he said something to the effect that she was not obliged to have more children, meaning she could use natural family planning, he didn't mean it to authorize artificial family planning. Maybe somebody else has the story clearer but that's as I remember it anyways.
there's nothing to worry about with either quote. In the first one he's making it easier to receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation for those who have sinned by assisting in or allowing an abortion. That's a good thing. Why they juxtaposed the second quote after today's good action is probably just the media playing more tricks. We can't use contraception either, that's a good thing as it's choosing life. My wife and I figured out the natural family planning and it's working just fine
