    Caution never does harm

The simple fact is that most claimed revelations are false. It is extremely foolish, therefore, to devote oneself to propagating a disapproved or dubious message, which might actually come from the Father of Lies. If one day you see its falsity for yourself, you will regret it enormously, and be unable to undo the harm done to others. On the other hand, there are more than enough approved messages to spread, if you want to spread them. It is better to keep to what is countenanced by the Church, than to go it alone and risk being a dupe of the devil.

There it is folks, in black and white.

As for believing Charlie solely because HE claims he's sent from God and "has inside information"...well...we have nothing to go on besides what Charlie tells us. There isn't another side to the story. And I can tell you from a year-and-a-half of discerning him and his message that a LOT isn't adding up.

(Harper did a great job of telling everyone WHY, and she got a lot of grief for it.)

When someone dismisses other prophecies and asserts that he's sent and not them, doesn't that set off anyone's alarm bells?

When someone says they consecrated themselves to Mary but then "slept around" (the nicest way I can put it) for SEVEN YEARS after that consecration, doesn't that set off anyone's alarm bells?

When someone ridicules someone else for being frightened by their prophecies, and then throws it up on their blog to criticize and minimize their concerns, doesn't that set off anyone's alarm bells?

When someone says things like "you will be held to account by God" for fair criticism, but doesn't speak charitably of critics like Kevin O'Brien, the NCR and Patti Armstrong, and the nameless many he tore into on Disqus, doesn't that set off anyone's alarm bells?

    If these things don't...

    Why?

Julia Immaculate Heart of Mary, pray for us.

To me the answer is very simple really. I get sick to the back teeth of people who preach at me about what they think about this one or that one or some body else. And with the nerve to claim they know the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth.

It is like Mormons knocking on your door shoving their beliefs down your throat. They believe their own rubbish too. At least you can shut them up or shut the door. But in the Forum, it is in your face.

"Preaching" isn't the same as "I found out information about this person that doesn't coincide with the image they're trying to present".

There are a lot of somethings off about this guy and the whole mission - it's very possible that he may have been deceived for 50+ years - and people should know rather than blindly following him.

Thank you for giving us, again, your 'discernment' on Charlie. However, readers are able to make their own discernment on Charlie from the videos I posted earlier and, equally, make their own discernment of the 'advice' you and others are offering. How about just leaving it at that? But I suspect you will not be able to do so.

I think the real tragedy here is not that Charlie is doing the deceiving - I don't believe that - but Charlie has been deceived all along.

That's why spiritual directors advise people to keep these things to themselves vs. going public, speaking tours, etc.

    Just an observation:

The people who say Harper is attacking Charlie are the ones who are actually doing the attacking.....on Harper.....because she disagrees with them.

Harper is doing nothing wrong (she is not attacking) by bringing up her concerns about a seer. Why can't we talk about things civilly on this forum anymore without people going on the defensive and accusing others of _____(fill in the blank).

I just had to comment because the Lake Charles talk you posted my BIL taped! It was at the VFW in Lake Charles and when the air conditioner kicked on it was so loud it drowned out everything.

    God Bless!

Yes, Bernadette, it was annoying when the air conditioner came in but I could just about hear Charlie over it.

But here is another video I've found of a Charlie talk with excellent sound:

Also, this may already have been posted but there is a good page about Charlie at the Mystics of the Church website at: http://www.mysticsofthechurch.com/2014/12/charlie-johnston-alleged-prophet-with.html

Just a final comment from me, I really don't know if his specific predictions will prove accurate but his basic message is one of hope and encouragement and of the need to stick with God and His Church. That seems a pretty good position to hold.

Added comment: It is certainly possible that I have been too impressed by Charlie because of the unfairness (as I see it) of Charlie's critics. The next few months and the US election will show whether Charlie's understanding of future events is more based on human thinking rather than supernatural guidance.

If the Blessed Mother admonished Conchita for chewing gum and Charlie has been seeing his "angel" since, what did he say in the video, 7 or 8 years old? and he is still puffing on an e-cigeratte??!!!! Not only that but he excuses himself for it by interjecting abortion into the dialogue. Come on now sleepy heads, wake up.

Are you able to specify which video you are referring to and where in the video. I cannot work out what you are trying to say. ..... e-cigarette??? ....... 7 or 8 years old???

I don't understand. It would be generally considered that chewing gum during conversation is socially rude, though hardly on a grave scale. Generally, it would not be considered so in Ireland in many social instances of people smoking real cigarettes. It is less likely to be offensive in terms of e-cigarettes which represent an effort by the smoker to dispel his (non-sinful habit) and are unaccompanied by the unpleasant smoke and odours of their real counterparts.

I'm still fence-sitting, but it will take a little more than e-cigarettes and other jansenisms to knock me off onto the anti-Charlie side. Such as discovering him guilty of lies or fraud or similar grave deception, or of fomenting disobedience or heresy. The Catholic Church is not rigoristic or puritan. All sin is outlined in the Cathechism of the Catholic Church. As far as I know, there is no mention of smoking, real or virtual. One is not entitled to make oneself more Catholic than The Church by inventing new sins. Perhaps you are the sleepy-head and the one needing to wake up (I'd insert one of these winky, smiley faces here, if I knew how)!

[And no, I'm not accusing Our Lady of possessing Jansenist tendencies-she is of course due special deference as both the Mother of God and Queen of Heaven and Earth. Such protocols do not apply to most of us plebs down here].

[That said, I'd be very wary of chewing gum or smoking in front of that Kim fellow in North Korea who executed some misfortunate bureaucrat recently for dozing off in front of him. That is where puritanism can lead one!]

Oh no! My wife can be rather wild at times (I can give her good cause) and, although I have come to prefer brandy, I like an occasional whiskey. Must I relinquish my wife and whiskey? Would it be ok to drink whisky without the 'e'? Is the brandy ok? Seriously, if Charlie appeared in the video with a tipple of whiskey in front of him, I wouldn't be put off in the slightest (of course, if he proceeded to polish off a bottle things might change).

davidtlig. Charlie does use e-cigarette. He was a smoker. And you will see in his shirt pocket what looks like a pen; that is the e-cigarette. You may notice him from time to time pulling it out and quickly getting a puff, usually while someone is putting a question to him. For all those who see smoking as a sin...I formally come out of the closet as a smoker myself....if I get attacked for it, so be it.

One thing that concerns me about the 'be damned' brigade is while they are instigating attacks on someone's faults and failings; they are unwittingly silencing other forum posters or readers who may have personal faults and failings that cause a private sense of shame, when it is published like this. And I find this behaviour to be very off putting, elitist, clicky; especially to some one who may just have popped in searching for a nice Catholic Forum. IMHO.

... or near as I can tell nor was Jesus from my limited understanding of Scripture! Nor did Jesus spend much time , it seems, Hanging-Out with Temple Priests, Scribes, Pharisees .... just regular Folks ... I'd like to think ..like me ;). God made us Human with all of our foibles & weakness! He made us that way for a reason ... Why didn't He make us perfect? ... Folks since ancient time have been trying to figure that out and most explanations ... Well! ..?? It will be revealed to us in the Next Life along with, I expect, many things that will go against lots of our incorrect notions and conceptions. I think we spend wayyyyyyy too much time asking God to forgive us for the Human Nature He installed in each one of us!? God gave us Life and we are supposed to live Life.... as best we can and as Charlie sez: FAITH & TRUST! ... and .... Take the Next Right Step!

I am trying to leave this thread alone...because i have said my peace. I dusted my shoes...but here i go running back.

She does have a point about e-cigarets. You might not think its a sin. And e-cigarets in and of itself might not be. But the sin comes in the addiction. Now you and I would have different standards to addiction and sin. (Standards...one e-cigerate might not be sin to you but it might be sin to me). But charlie will have much greater standards. HE IS TALKING TO GOD. HE IS TALKING TO ANGELS. Can we understand what a great responsibility that is and how IT HAS TO CHANGE YOU. His world has to change completely. The steak dinners are gone. The e-cigarets are gone. The dinner parties are gone. Your past is not your highlight but your lowlight. Charlie is a nice guy and has a nice message. And even might be guided by the Holy Spirit. But the visions change everything. True visions from God doesn't just change you...but you totally wipeout your past life and become a whole new person. That is one of my main issues with Garabandal and Medjugorgi. The tradition of the church is...whatever position you are in when called, you stay in that position. In other words, if married stay married...but if single you give your life to God.

This is just my personal opinion. But once you say God is talking to me...then you have entered into the battle. You might tell us to pray the rosary... but it is the visionaries example that must be above and beyond what God is asking everyone else to do.

To all the forum members...what if the Our Blessed Mother came down and talked to you for a year straight. What would be your reaction. And in those messages you see heaven and hell. Would your life change completely. The answer is a profound yes. In a sense... you have to agree to these visions. And once you agree...it entails all the sacrifice and hardships that go with it. Being a Christian on earth, is not the easy path...it is filled with hardship because we become the anti-world. We might accept the cross with joy...and in turn that makes us smile on the outside but one the inside we have a sense of urgency that time is short.

Charlie has a good message...it is just that. I do not believe it is from his visions. But hopefully it is from the Holy Spirit.

    :(
