My brother-in-law, Kirk, who is not a Christian and his wife and sister-in-law and kids all live in Texas in the same area of my mother-in-law. Wonderful folk, but no faith and no religious inclinations. I've touched on it with them but get the silent treatment so I have just been praying on occasion for them. I requested special help when I visited the shrine in Wisconsin for my bro-in-law since he is dieing of cancer. He is getting worse and time is running out. I doubt a cure is going to take place so I'm asking for prayers for his soul. If we could just save him from damnation- that would be fabulous. To bring him up as high as we can in the levels of purgatory is even better- and Heaven is.... well Heaven. He is a very nice guy- but I'm afraid for him due to the stony responses to the religion issue. I'm sure he is angry, as he is dieing at a young age. If somehow this turned into a miracle where his entire family circle came to God through him- that would be a wonderful way to turn this tragedy around. Any prayers are so appreciated. Thanks, Kath

God is so good, I am never afraid to be greedy , so praying for his body, soul, family, you and the entire state of texas for an end of the dorught. God we pray for all, grant us all, through the intercession of the Mother of God.
May Kirk be receptive the stirrings of the Holy Spirit, find mercy and peace, and die with Jesus' name on his lips.

Prayers on the way Kathleen!! All we can do is pray and leave it in God's hands. I can't imagine what one thinks about when they know the end is near, especially if you don't believe in Heaven. As you always rightly say, pray, pray, pray!

Though he is probably angry right now, I think you should tell him how much you are praying for him, that you prayed for him on the pilgrimage to Green Bay, and that others in the world are also praying for him, and that whether he feels it or not, God, and Mary and his angels are all with him, helping him to do whatever is next for him to do. Acceptance will eventually happen and it is then that he will think about God. I truly believe that. If he was once a believer, I believe he will be again, and be glad to see God. That, along with the prayers of those who love him like you, will help him find his way to heaven one day. Ok, that said though, I agree with Padraig...lets ask for that miracle again and again! I think that is wonderful. I forgot about seeking a patron Saint. I'll look about and see if I can't find a convent or group of brothers who pray for cancer patients and see if I can't get him on a prayer list. I have done that before for my mom and others. Fr.
