Start with small prayer but be consistent...maybe when you wake up and when you go to bed. Make a goal that you will do it for a month. The morning prayer should be a morning offering. Giving your day to the Lord...and your night prayer should be a reflection of your day what you did right, wrong and things you have to improve.

    Remember baby steps :)

I will pray for you and your family

Well one thing we know is that Mary has been promting the rosary and scapular in a more profound way since Fatima. Pray the rosary daily has been her constant appeal. St. Padre Pio called it 'my weapon'. The daily rosary is essential. Developing a personal relationship with God (prayer from the heart) is essential as well. Mark Mallett www.markmallett.com has recent blogs on this.

there is an app called "Laudete" which is great for your phone or tablet. It will teach you how to pray the rosary along with a lot of other devotions. You can listen and pray along with podcasts of the rosary or divine mercy chaplet. Or you can pray bead by bead on your own if you want. With this app, you can also get the daily readings, saint of the day, lots of prayers, Vatican documents, etc. If you can't access apps, there are lots of web sites that will teach you how to pray the rosary. Or, just tune into EWTN when Mother Angelica prays it!

It is important to just pick a time of day to pray and just start doing it. Maybe start with just 7 Our Father's, 7 Hail Mary's and 7 Glory Be's and build from there. You may be surprised what time of day works for you for your dedicated prayer. I am a total night owl, but I pray very early in the morning before work. My rosary and a cup of coffee..doesn't get better than that :)

    little mary,

Do not overload. Give your heart to Jesus and Mary. Pray Ps 131:

1 O LORD, my heart is not lifted up, my eyes are not raised too high; I do not occupy myself with things too great and too marvelous for me. 2 But I have calmed and quieted my soul, like a child quieted at its mother's breast; like a child that is quieted is my soul. 3 O Israel, hope in the LORD from this time forth and for evermore.

Remember this beautiful truth from the fourth chapter of Saint Paul's letter to the Galatians in the New Testament:

4 But when the fullness of time had come, God sent his Son, born of a woman, born under the law, 5 in order to redeem those who were under the law, so that we might receive adoption as children. 6 And because you are children, God has sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, crying, "Abba! Father!" 7 So you are no longer a slave but a child, and if a child then also an heir, through God.

If there is Eucharistic Adoration at any church near you, that might also be a good way to start. Go and kneel before Jesus in the blessed sacrament and just talk to him, as you would to a friend. And then, of course, be silent for a time and just let him speak to your heart. Start with 5 or 10 minutes at a time and try to go once a week, and then build up from there.

Here's a good link for learning to pray the Rosary: http://www.ewtn.com/devotionals/prayers/rosary/how_to.htm

My favorite rosary app is Rosario, as the music is great and they read lots of scripture to introduce each mystery. It takes about 45 minutes to do the rosary. My favorite divine mercy app is called Free Divine Mercy and that has 2 recordings of the chaplet, sung beautifully from the national shrine of divine mercy. I also recommend iCatholicRAdio app, for both rosary and divine mercy podcasts. That rosary only takes about 18 minutes if you are pressed for time. You can also stream catholic radio with this, and every day at 3am and 3pm EST is a most beautiful holy hour, with divine mercy chaplet and rosary with Quiet Water Productions. I love the Quiet Water Productions rosary, and wish they had an app!!

So, there are tons of rosary apps out there if you search for audio rosary or just rosary. I have about 5 and I've only mentioned a few here. Some are long, fast, music, no music, lots of scripture, just announcing the mystery...something for everyone!

I suspect that I'm not the only guy here that has trouble keeping up with Devotions, Litanies, Chaplets and ......?
I used to get discouraged but came to the conclusion that The Lord just wants US to think about and talk to Him when we can and wherever we are. Tell Him about your life, concerns and needs ... just like we would with a close family member or Best Friend ....?

Devotions, litanies and chaplets are good but it comes down to consistency. Choose one, maybe two and be devoted...consistence is what will give you the most graces. Not only does repetition bring you greater concentration...it leads you into the devotions mystical attributes.

Its easy to jump from one to the other. But it is a greater gift to be consistent and make it a true devotion. The Rosary is the greatest weapon and has so many different mystical attributes that it is the candy store of prayers. Where all prayers and devotions are the candy. The Rosary is the candy store. One can grow both spiritually and mystically in many different paths.

If you can find a prayer group somewhere near I think it would be a big help. It is hard going alone at the start.

Also if you have relative or friend , priest or religious who could could befriend or help you, someone further along the road it might be good.

Be aware the devil will hate you for this and try to trip you up.

God craves your friendship and love...Talk to him all day long.
    For example...
Thank you Lord for the close parking spot (at the grocery store),
or please help me to not get to angry with my children,
or please show my how you wish to be loved,
or help me to pick out a dress Lord...

Try to make it a point to thank Him whenever you get a gift, corporeal or spiritual. Question Him when you are not understanding something or are frustrated. As a good Father he will give you everything you need and most everything you want (as long as it's good for you). So don't be shy when asking for something ...be bold. And ask for much.

    Peace

It is not silly but really nice of you to share this to us. You can be anywhere and pray to God, and sometimes its better to just go to a quiet place and pray in your heart because God knows what you want and what is on your mind. I go to Holy Hour every Wednesday here in our Church, there is only few of us and it is nice that sometimes you empty yourself to him and let him speak to you and all you have to do is listen. And I recommend for you to call the Holy Spirit he will guide you.
