that is sooo interesting! Are you using ancestry.com? Sometimes you can find relatives who have worked on family trees that mingle with yours. I have found alot of info that way. And bless the people who save their old photos! There is an interesting website called 'find a grave' .com and you can search for headstones of your ancestors. I have found many headstones and left pictures of the deceased person on the site in case any progeny comes along in the future. At least they can get a picture! And there is room to leave a flower and message. I like that! There is no charge for find a grave and people in local areas go out and photograph the headstones and put them online. I think some of the historical societies are behind it. I hope you find your Murphy! I have a Murphy in my background, but don't know where they originated from.

Yes I have seen "find a grave". Never thought about leaving a picture for the future generations to see...great idea!

I haven't joined Ancestry simply because of the expense, and I can search Ancestry free through the Library, but I have my family tree on Family Search which is free. It is very extensive and I found some distant cousins who are trying to help me through there. I also use Find A Grave. I do have lots of pictures of other family and have been posting them on Find A Grave and now I see some of them being copied and showing up on Ancestry by others who share my tree so am glad they are able to see my pictures.
