I have good news to share on my family member who has lost their belief in Jesus. I have mentioned in other threads, I was doing a 54 day novena for a job, but switched the intention after learning a family member had lost their belief in Jesus (he existed but was just a carpenter) and was iffy on God. The reason why the topic of her beliefs came up in conversation was because her oldest child is now old enough for his first year CCD, and she was really struggling with signing him up. She did not want to as she no longer believed and she also struggles with the churches position on social issues. Because of this, she left the decision to her husband, who has a stronger belief although only attends church on Easter and Christmas. Family was not giving them pressure one way or the other...which surprised them, since they thought more would be upset if they didn't enroll them in CCD. They had also begun going to services of other non-christian religions. When I heard that the decision was being made by the husband, I did the novena for hopeless causes (posted in the prayers section) for the husband, praying that he would decide to enroll their child in CCD. I have just found out that they WILL be enrolling their child in CCD and they will begin teaching him about God before the first class!! Although my family member's beliefs haven't changed, I thank God that she will be participating on some level in this education, and may even go to mass once CCD classes begin. Perhaps through this process she will re-discover Jesus as her savior. Thank you our dear mother in Heaven for hearing my prayers. They were at a fork in the road with a wide path or a narrow path and I really feel Our Lady grabbed the husband by the hand down the narrow path, and he will take his family with him. A small battle won in this spiritual war that helps me to believe in the power of prayer!!
OH thank God! Maybe now God will answer your other intentions too! Her story is in a way, my story, though It was I who finally decided to sign them up. My daughter was three years delinquent, and my son was the age to start. I was angry with the Church on issues too, and remarried...so no longer a welcome member. We tried some methodist sunday schools for a while, but didn't stick with that either. I was still a Catholic inside, doing nothing was what was easiest for many years. My mom gently prodded me, but didn't really push that hard either. But when the time came for my son, well, she did renew her prodding, and now I know she was praying for it for a long time too, for me to get the kids into CCD. When I finally did it, it was the beginning of my journey back as well. Yes, you do have to go to church a little more, it only seems right. To pick them up from CCD and not go to church is very aukward. Also, when it comes time for them to go to confession, they involve the parents and strongly push you to go "with" them, to stand in line and show them its not so bad...or, perhaps to go after them, if you are the one who needs encouragement...LOL. At least that's what they did at our church. I pray that this works and they all find their faith together for the first time, forever.
If God doesn'tget you that job now, he's going to have an angry irishman knocking at the golden gate to punch him on the nose!
  I'm just thankful the novena was answered! My family member can't be too, too far from God if she is willing to support the decision and participate on some level in his education. A part of her heart is still open and Jesus will know what to do. My 54 day novena is done, and now I've placed this situation (her unbelief in Him as her saviour) in Jesus' hands to resolve and I trust that He will resolve it
