A friend of mine sent me the below link in an email.
It's a sermon from Pope Benedict VVI from a few years back.
It references the challenges to our faith in recent times (SSM) and he talks very well of, what he calls the DIY faith a lot of people have. ( What a wonderful expression he coined here, DIY faith, brilliant), and Ive always got the impression that Pope Benedict XVI seems to have had a good understanding of the new age religion and how it's a spaghetti incident of all the worlds religions served together.
He also touches on the need for us to cultivate the inner life, which was wonderful to read.

Anyway, though of you all when I read it and wanted to share here:

Thanks for this post and link! Confirms for me a prayer ive been saying the last 2 months, renewal of my mind and it is no longer I who live but Christ within me....

In the second verse we are given the answer: "Do not be conformed to this world but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that you may prove what is the will of God..." Romans (12: 2). The two decisive words of this verse are "transformed" and "renewal". We must become new people, transformed into a new mode of existence.

    Galatians 2:20
I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me; and the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.

Many thanks to you and your friend Torrentum.
This is a fabulous piece. Sometimes i forget how precisely BXVI speaks to my heart. No ambiguities, no contradictions...
Thank God we still have him! His words give me security in the waves that surround Pope Francis.

I encourage everyone to read some of Bendt XVI's books.
His book are amazing displays of knowledge about the faith and the bible. But, they are challenging to read. So expect to spend a while with them, or maybe it's just me, but one of his books took me a month to get through!
