I hope there is some bible buff or medical expert can answer this as it has been puzzling me.

When a person is supposed to be tested to see if they have leprosy the priest is supposed to visit the persons home. Now one of the signs that it is leprosy is if had spread to the walls and furniture of the house.

Now as far as I know leprosy does not spread on walls and furniture like a kind of fungus. In fact I know of no disease that does this.

I also know that leprosy is a generic cover all term for lots of different skin complaints. However I was wondering what would cause this. Also if there is no disease today that causes it, is it possible there was a kind of fungus illness back then that has not survived?

Thanks. Leviticus, funny enough I don't find boring, though it is a big book.:)

    Leviticus 14:55

    Cleansing a Home
54This is the law for any mark of leprosy-- even for a scale, 55and for the leprous garment or house, 56and for a swelling, and for a scab, and for a bright spot--…

Is the verse above talking about contaminated clothing/furniture, ie, clothing/furniture that would need disinfection/disposal?

Leviticus says if the disease has spread to the walls of the house the house must be burnt , it talks about it marking the walls as though if were a fungus. It sounds very Science Fiction and truly horrible.
