I should explain to non Americans that Joe Biden is the Vice President of the USA and a Catholic. He comes, I believe, from a particualarly Liberal strand of American politics , one which would for instance be very pro abortion and pro homosexual , 'Rights'. So I never in a million years thought I would be posting a video of him talking about his faith . But recently in an interview with talk show host Steve COlbert he talked very movingly about his faith, the mass and rosary and the recent death of his son. It moved me quite alot and was a warning shot across my own bow not to rush to judgement too quickly. Perhaps if you listen to this guy it will make you think too and move you in the same way as it did myself.
I don't trust him. I feel like it could be all an act, an elaborate plan to gain favor so he can become President. Liberals know how to make emotional appeals. But, I could be wrong.
He is certainly, on the face of it a very likeable, humble seeming man. However I kind of suspect the upfront humilty. Nevertheless if someone tells me they are praying it makes my ears perk up. If I was his parish priest would I give him Holy Communion? NO!!! Interesting, though that he talks so openly about it his Faith in the Public Market Place...the Pope Francis Effect?
I agree with you Padraig. I was also touched by his candidness while discussing his faith. He just lost his son, lost his first wife and daughter earlier in his life, I'm sure he does have faith, without it how can people endure such deep, deep losses? On a happier note, He had Steven King on last night and I thought it was quite entertaining. They talked about Donald Trump and I don't think they were 'REALLY' kidding either! I should mention I NEVER read his books and have seen very little of his movies, (too scary for me), but he was entertainting last night.
Progressives are great at saying one thing and doing another. They have mastered the art of wolves in sheep's clothing. I think our Lord called them out in his day with many admonitions. Anyone who supports the killing of innocent lives is evil. We can and should pray for their repentance.
The Regan Democrats were the 10% swing vote who were catholic sheeple....Dems depend on this group. Biden has not denounced ABORTION and supports civial unions...aka marriage To me hes who Jesus spoke about they say long prayers in the public square to seem pius. If Biden is converting, welcome aboard the Bark of Peter, but he has used the Church for his advantage in the past.
Biden is just your typical slime politician (of both Parties) who sold his soul for votes decades ago .............. he must not be overly smart either ...... unlike many (most?) of his corrupt Senate Pals, he has not amassed a $$$ Fortune during his 40+ years of Public "Service"! GOD SAVE ALL HERE!! PS: Elections always remind me of my military career where I voted by absentee ballot. As such, I knew little about the local elections and used my Old Navy Dad's advice. Just vote whoever is in office .. Out. If he believed what he says he does, then he would need to go to confessions, repent and publicly denounce most of what he supported in public life. His policies and that of his party are largely responsible for the downfall of our nation. Like everyone, he deserves his chance at forgiveness, but to my knowledge he has never regretted or repented of any of his viel public policies. Maybe with the death of his son, he will rethink his own mortality and look to his salvation as opposed to his ego driven political ambitions. God help him....literally.
It makes me stand back and take a long hard look at my own SPiritual Life and wonder how much and how often I am engaging in self deceit? Imagine how awful it would be to reach your death bed...or beyond before finally realising you had taken a very wrong turning! That is the best thing with having a very good confessor or Spiritual Director; someone to point you in the right direction.
Maybe a good sign you are on the right course is this: Be wary when the world prises you and gives you honour. Be happy when you are little, poor and rejected by the world, for so they did with Christ. Lucifer is Prince of this World and well knows how to reward those who serve him.

I have no doubt that Biden truly does have some belief in God, but from all outward appearances he does not appear to have the supernatural gift of faith. The faith given us by God to accept what he teaches even if it does not square with what we would like or even what makes sense to us. If he does have that faith, he is ignoring it. He seems to have the sort of faith I had up until a year and a half ago. I believed in God, the Church, etc. but figured they must have something wrong because God wouldn't send anyone to Hell. In short, I created my own "reality" which wasn't real at all, but helped me sleep at night. I had what I call a "pilot light" of faith. There was something still there deep inside that was just barely alive, but it was so dim it was overwhelmed by the darkness in my life. In short I believed what I wanted to believe, not revealed truth. It is called pride. I am not judging Bidens interior motives, only what we can see from his actions, which seems as horribly opposed to God as one could be. It is even worse because of the power he has held during his life. He is still able to be saved though. He might be the kind of person who could be turned around by the warning. For all of the evil I have done in my life, and it is a lot, I would not want to trade places with him on that day. He has oceans of the blood of children on his hands. We should all pray for as many conversions as possible when the warning comes.
Padraig, there are many politicians who compartmentalize their public and private life; Biden is one of these. In front of the constituency, they say whatever gets them the vote. In their private life they may believe the opposite, but do not act on their faith in public, if this goes against their constituency. I think that after a time, this double life takes its toll, and forces them to lose their faith; and they don't even know they have lost it.
Faith is not only about belief but about how you live so it cannot be compartmentalized into private vs public. If someone is too cowardly to live by their faith in the public arena then that is not real saving faith.
Yeah those politicians, they shed real tears, then plan their next strategy. Actions speak louder than words.
I didn't watch the video. I think Biden has played the village idiot so long that he makes Nancy Pelosi and Obama look good. As our vice president he is a joke. These token catholics ( with a small "c" are a group of elite people who do more damage than good. Glad-handers. ..may God convert their hearts!
If Charlies prophesy holds true and Obama doesn't finish his term, then ,Ol Joke'n Joe is 2nd in line per the US Constitution to be President. 3rd is speaker of the House. In lite of Charlies prophesy I find the 3rd tier interesting with Bohner stepping down and McCarthy stepping down... To be speaker of the House, you don't have to be elected, The speaker can be anyone the House nominates to be speaker.... Poor Joe Biden. My Spiritual Director died of Prostate cancer it is not an easy death. I see the cancer has spread to his bones. I hope that despite his dementia God will give him a chance to make a good confession before he goes. All that very great wealth and power, but what good is it now? We all have to die. Prayers for poor old Joe.
