There was a post up on youtube saying that the Vatican didn't ban the TLM pilgrimage. The pilgrimage applied to the Vatican but the Vatican refused because it clashed with another event - the 800th anniversary of St. Francis of Assisi. It is said the Vatican gave the TLM Pilgrimage a different date but they didn't take up the offer.
I was reading a copy of the letter the Vatican sent earlier on today. It is true about the St Francis thing but I did not read in the letter about them offering another date. The letter was just a few lines and it was very curt and bare. Just telling them they could not use St Peter's. I will see if I can find it and post it. It was up on face book: https://dianemontagna.substack.com/p/letter-confirms-vatican-barred-annual VATICAN CITY, 25 October 2026 — A letter from the Vatican Secretariat of State to the organizers of the annual Ad Petri Sedem pilgrimage, obtained by this journalist, confirms reports that the pilgrims were barred from entering St. Peter’s Basilica in procession to pray at the tomb of the Apostle. The letter (pictured below), dated 30 September 2026, is signed by Archbishop Paolo Rudelli, Substitute for General Affairs, and addressed to the pilgrimage’s chaplain, Abbé Claude Barthe. Written in French, it reads: “Dear Father, in reply to your letter of 8 September, concerning the international pilgrimage Ad Petri sedem, I inform you that it is not possible to respond favorably to your request. Please accept, dear Father, the expression of my religious and devoted regard.” In his letter of 8 September, Abbé Barthe had acknowledged the Secretariat of State’s refusal to authorize a Mass in the usus antiquior, the older form of the Roman Rite, in St. Peter’s Basilica this year. He then asked: “May we nevertheless, this coming 24 October, enter the Basilica in procession, pray for the Pope at the Confession, and adore the Blessed Sacrament at the Altar of the Chair? The Basilica’s sacristy indicates to us that this would be possible at 1 p.m., should you grant us permission.” Now in its fifteenth year, the Ad Petri Sedum pilgrimage — more popularly known as the Summorum Pontificum pilgrimage — is held annually in Rome on the weekend of the Feast of Christ the King, as observed in the traditional calendar.
IN addition the TLM were given the bum's rush from the Basilica of St Maria Major . They were allowed only an hour for Mass and forbidden to take photos so they could not do Solemn Mass. Mad. Perhaps if they bring rainbow flags next time they will let them stay a week in St Peter's and get to meet the Pope.
This weekend I went to two different churches in my diocese. Saturday and Sunday. I like to join in the rosary on Saturday before Mass at my local church, and I joined the choir in another church on Sunday fifteen minutes away. Neither church mentioned the Feast of Christ the King this weekend. So sad about that!
The Feast of Christ the King is the last Sunday of the Liturgical Year. The following Sunday is the First Sunday of Advent.
You speak the truth, Padraig. People pay attention to their bills food prices and gas, the falling economy...yet turn away from the truth.
Ok Thanks for that. Traditional. I know I had seen it somewhere and it got locked in. So our Lord and King will get two in my heart this year.
The reason that the, 'Church', of England is so filthy rich is that they stole it all from the Catholic Church during the Protestant Rebellion. If they are sincere about reparations they should be giving the look and property back to the Catholic Church. If you ever looked at the Series , 'Downton Abbey'. the Abbey part would have been a Catholic Abbey stolen and given to some Protestant thief.
It may be that there was a good deal of sour grapes on the part of the Vatican, but the post I referred to is on the Decrevi channel which in turn refers to another post by The Catholic Traveler. You can view it there.
Politics always makes faith awkward it seems. Power corrupts and so on. Compassion is what it all points to. But getting there is a struggle. Winter doesn't end with fireworks blowing up ice, but when the sun shines gently in in a calm ambience.
A great point, Padraig, but Catholicism lies at the bottom of the ‘woke’ scale (thankfully), so we’ll not even be thought of. The great heist of Henry VIII and the ‘nobility’ was one of the greatest social crimes in history, at least the equal of the Bolshevik Revolution. The latter might have had some sincere social reformers among its thieves, but the English Reformation was 100% pure kleptomania. It was an appalling crime against The Church that had existed in England for nearly a thousand years. All its property, the product of centuries of donation by the faithful, was either stolen or destroyed and the clergy and faithful were ruthlessly exterminated. What is also forgotten is that the Church was the ‘social welfare system’ of the English people. Its low rents and always available food for the destitute was replaced by ‘sheep are eating men’ and rack-rents. Because of the insatiable greed of a few families, even the people’s commonage, their own property, was stolen from them. As a result, the English people were left destitute. It was the tragic end of Merry England, a great country in the Middle Ages, but look at it now. The same soon followed for Ireland, which had been under a benevolent English rule prior to these demonic events.
Even the pagans of old (much wiser than the modern ones) knew that ‘whom the gods wished to destroy they first made mad’. Or, as Saint Anthony of the Desert predicted, and I paraphrase, towards the end men will become mad and will accuse those who are not of being the mad ones. If one replaces ‘mad’ with ‘heretic’ or ‘apostate’, one might get an even more accurate sense of what St Anthony meant.
Nature, they say, abhors a vacuum. When Faith is gone, we see the devil quickly sending in a replacement for the hole left behind, consisting of sacramentalised sodomy, environmentalism and misplaced humanitarianism and all those who object are, as St Anthony predicted, dismissed as the ‘mad’ homophobes, racists and climate-deniers. Funnily enough, these latter are also the ones who continue to believe in God.
