The gentleman above makes a clear point. To allow oneself to slip into hyper-analysis of the Pope/Church is a danger because under what authority do I do so? By what or whose standard or wisdom? Now I am a Dad who was responsible for raising my children in the Faith. I am still responsible for loving and protecting my wife. But humility was and remains necessary for avoiding any exaggeration of my roles. There was a time my convictions caused me to reassess my ministry choice while attempting to remain true to my conscience. May it have been the best choice. This gentleman above has had to make choices, too. I suppose we all will hit similar bumps in life concerning one's role. Thank God for the Holy Spirit, especially His gifts of Fear of the Lord and Wisdom! I tremble when considering my Personal Judgment, but one thing I know: There won't be any doubt that the Lord's choice of my ultimate destiny will be correct.
The main problem is not that people are speaking out too much. The main problem is that people, particularly Bishops are remaining silent. I think though it is not good to obsess to much about it so our lives turn into an endless rant.
I was reading about Padre Pio again last night and the last great persecution of him under Pope John xxiii from 1960 to 1964. Apperently at that time Padre Pio began to speak out more and more about the bad things that were going on to him and around him snd to him. For instance when a Monsignor turned up from the Vatican to do an investigation of him claiming to be from the Pope Padre Pio rebuked him saying he was not from the Pope as he claimed. Very touchingly he prayed for those who persecuted him worrying that they might wind up in hell. He also rebuked those clergy and his fellow Capuchins who tried to steal the money for his hospital. This reminds me of Blessed Fulton Sheen who rebuked Cardinal Spellman who tried to steal money intended for the Missions. Isaiah 58:1: "Shout it aloud, do not hold back. Raise your voice like a trumpet. Declare to my people their rebellion..."
I agree with your viewpoint. I repent of having publicly detracted Pope Francis and prelates on this forum. I went too far.
-We ought to speak, shout out against injustices, with confidence and without fear. We proclaim the principles of the Church, the reigh of love, without forgetting that it is also a reign of justice. Bl Miquel Pro
I did too in the beginning. I remember Fr John a very holy Franciscan priest--a living saint--tell me that we had a right to be angry at the wounds being inflicted on the Church but that this was God's purification of the Church and therefore we had to pray and leave the rest to Him. I have tried to follow that spiritual direction.
Unless of course Pope Benedict’s resignation was coerced and thus invalid, in which case they were nothing more than usurpers or antipopes, in which case one wouldn’t be guilty of disparaging a “pope” but of properly resisting an enemy of Christ. https://www.lifesitenews.com/news/w...of-vatican-exposed-by-fr-murr-in-viral-video/ WATCH: Masonic infiltration of Vatican exposed by Fr. Murr in viral video LifeSiteMon Oct 12, 2026 - 1:34 pm EDT Listen to this article (LifeSiteNews) — Father Charles Murr recently discussed the infiltration of Freemasonry into the highest levels of the Vatican, the mysterious death of Pope John Paul I, and how history is repeating itself with the allegedly forced resignation of Pope Benedict XVI and the installation of liberal bishops by Popes Francis and Leo XIV. During an interview on the WORLDCA$T YouTube channel, which premiered October 8, Fr. Murr discussed the Masonic infiltration of the Vatican in the 1970s following the appointment of Cardinal Sebastiano Baggio, the prefect of the Congregation for Bishops who Murr has claimed was a 33rd-degree Mason, and Baggio’s alleged role in the death of Pope John Paul I just 33 days into his pontificate. This is the subject of Murr’s book, Murder in the 33rd Degree: The Gagnon Investigation into Vatican Freemasonry. Toward the end of the interview, Murr emphasized that history is repeating itself today, claiming Pope Benedict’s 2013 resignationwas forced and discussing how that resignation marked the liberal reshaping of the episcopate under Pope Francis and now Pope Leo XIV. The priest also noted that Francis’ final prefect of the Congregation for Bishops was the future Leo XIV, then-Cardinal Robert Prevost. “Today, all of that (infiltration) is repeating itself. After the resignation of Pope Benedict, who was forced by men in the Vatican to resign, they began to remake the episcopate throughout the world. The new bishops (are) all liberals,” Murr said. “And the last person in charge of the Congregation for Bishops, who was it? Robert Prevost from Chicago. Cardinal Prevost, who came to be Pope Leo.” “All the bishops that the Vatican is appointing, all of them, are liberals. There is a very big conflict, a war that is happening within the Church that could’ve happened under Paul VI and John Paul II, but it is happening today. With the majority mentality of the liberal bishops ‘changing the Church from within.'” READ: Pope Leo appoints bishop who celebrated ‘LGBT Mass’ with drag queen speaker Murr continued with a word of encouragement, reminding viewers that despite the deep infiltration of the Church, Our Lord will win in the end. “How is it going to end? I only know one thing: Christ is going to win. I have His word that He will be with the Church until the end of time,” the priest said. “How will the salvation of this Church that is in crisis come about? I do not know… but I do know that it will be remedied, that is called faith… And I have faith in Christ, my Christ is no liar, what He said will come to pass.” To watch Fr. I’ve mentally and spiritually “checked out” of the debate over the current and former occupants of the Chair of Peter. I refuse to waste any more of my energy worrying and obsessing over them and trying to claim that they somehow don’t make a liar of Christ with their blatantly obvious heresies and other violations of His Petrine promises. Stop it with the hand wringing and mental and spiritual gymnastics friends. The ONLY explanation for these “pontificates” is that they are false popes and an inherent central part of the current minor chastisement. Just be Catholic the best you can. Seek joy and peace in that Catholic life and know it’s not much longer till the Triumph and era of peace.
Thanks, Brian! The Triumph will come! But His Peace is available now. John 14: 27 Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.
I'm reading a very thorough history of the Catholic Church to my oldest son for school, and let me tell you, the amount of antipopes and insane behavior from even legitimate popes that went on during the 9th and 10th centuries would make the modern man's head spin. When Jesus promised that the gates of Hell would not prevail against His Church, He obviously meant the long game, because individual time periods could still have so much wrong in the Church that many people were scandalized and left wondering who the pope actually was, or why he was so unholy. I think He meant that even when things look terrible, they WILL be righted, and we have to pray and hang on to Christ until He sorts it out....as He always has.
During the time of the Borgia Popes there was a saying in Rome that the Madams of the cities brothels picked the Popes rather than the Cardinals. There was a lot of truth in this. When a Protestant lady from Lombardy heard that that a good person had been elected Pope she was astonished and was heard to say, 'But he is a good man! How did that happen!' The Italians are a lot laid back about there being bad Popes that we are. They saw it all before first hand.
Back home after the wonderful visit to Portugal and seeing some news on TV. They haven't spoken about it yet but a banner across the bottom of the screen says Pope Leo has had a phone call with Putin urging a truce with Ukraine. Edit: This excerpt from the RTE news page: "During the call with Mr Putin, the American pontiff expressed "deep concern" for the humanitarian situation in the Russian-occupied Ukrainian town of Oleshky. Pope Leo urged Mr Putin for a truce to allow the entry of first aid and food supplies into the town, the Vatican said, and to permit a voluntary evacuation of the civilian population."
Thanks AED, my apologies for the other (now deleted) thread. I have not been sleeping well or sleeping adequately for the last month and I’m working on some major very difficult projects. Plus I just spent a week up a mountain at 8500 feet and I seriously think I had elevation sickness and didn’t realize it, and its really affecting my thinking, even now. Ad in post stroke fatigue and I’m just exhausted and irrational, like a 3 year old who needs a nap. That’s an explanation, not an excuse. Mea maxima culpa.
Isn't THAT the truth!! Any, the gates of Hell will not prevail. A priest re ently said, that does not mean it won't ever be pounding on the door, numerous times. We know it has been infiltrated but WE are also the Body of Christ. WE are the Church & will NOT be brought down!
Man proposes and God disposes. You never know what's round the corner. The Pope visiting Moscow would be mind blowing.
I got a message today from CWN about Pope Leo ‘pontificating’ about ‘a new world food order’. I thought Vatican II said that popes should refrain from inappropriately using their authority upon matters to which it does not apply? This, to me, comes across as liberal-style virtue signalling. While it is unfortunate that there are still people who hunger (didn’t Someone say there always would be?), it is a simple reality that there have never been as many being fed as there are now. It is one of the undoubted achievements of modernity and, while imperfect, one of those incidences whereby ‘if it works don’t fix it’ applies.
Here is the gist of what he said https://www.vaticannews.va/en/pope/news/2026-10/pope-fao-message-for-world-food-day.html
